((Miro realizes that most of you don't know her very well, so she felt the need to preface this post by saying that she wrote it strictly for story telling purposes. She can see how some who don't know any better might think otherwise, but she put no hidden meanings in it.))
:: At the apartment, Miro wakes with a start and finds herself clutching her panda, heart racing and cheeks thoroughly flushed. She'd been having a rather vivid and intimate dream redface Such was rather uncommon for her, especially after she had gone several years without physical intimacy. As a cleric, she shouldn't even have enough experience in that kind of thing in order to dream it as clearly as she had sweatdrop , but the fact of the matter was that she did indeed have the experience, and though it had become suppressed, it was indelible.
Her husband worried about this kind of thing when she first confided in him that she actually wasn't a virgin like clerics of Tunare are assumed to be. She had assured him that all that was behind her since by the time she'd met him, it had already been ten years since she was last with anyone. It was understood that when she became involved with him, there would be no physical intimacy between them, not only because his strict disciplines as a monk disallowed it (and technically, her position as a cleric did as well), but also because he is an iksar, making their bodies incompatible.
Iksar have a completely different reproductive system that involved laying and nurturing eggs much like most other lizards. Additionally, even the smallest of gestures such as caressing her cheek was something she had to grin and bear as the scaled claw of her literally cold-blooded husband had an unshakable dissonance with her delicate skin. At the time they married, she was completely confident she could live with that. It wasn't his fault that he was born that way, and it's what's inside that really counts anyhow. There was no sense giving up on what they had built over something so superficial.
What they have now, however, didn't seem quite the same as what they had the day they were married. It's uncertain as to whether these things appeared in the years that followed or if she had been blissfully ignorant of them before the marriage, but it often felt now that she was more of a tool than a wife. He liked having her around to heal him as he tested his skills on more powerful creatures than himself, helping him perfect them and come up with new ones. It was convenient for her to be there to resurrect him when things didn't work out as well as he hoped. And it was easier to send her to run errands and prepare his travel pack with as much food and supplies as he'd require before he went out on some sort of quest so he didn't have to waste any energy on doing such things himself.
When clerics with better armor and spells than her began to work as mercenaries, that took away two thirds of her usefulness, and running errands was something he began to do himself when he realized that he was much more efficient at it than she was.
He still told her that he loved her and that she meant everything to him, but with his actions constantly telling a completely different story, such was becoming little more than words to her, though she tried to convince herself they weren't just words. No marriage is perfect and all relationships go through rough patches. It'd be unrealistic to expect otherwise. Working through problems is what would ultimately make the relationship stronger.
However, knowing something and putting it into practice are two different things. Though it would be better for her to talk with him about it, because of the stigma she wore due to not being a virgin, it was easy for him to jump to conclusions as to why she would be unsatisfied with their relationship, which has happened before and made it increasingly difficult for her to feel comfortable being open with him. She thought she would just wait it out and hope it got better. It seemed likely he was just very eager to live the challenge of all the new places that were being discovered back on Norrath and that once that newness factor wore off, he would stay in one place more often and they could get back to how they used to be.
Unfortunately, what she's gone through with Vassnta these past few weeks may just have made that idea near impossible.
She hugs her panda tightly once more as she recalls the dream she had awaken from. Since the time Vassnta had her touch his ear and did the same in return, her mind couldn't help but occasionally venture into that long forgotten realm of physical intimacy. He was so soft and warm.
Keeping him at a distance and shutting out as much emotion as she could seemed to help suppress it once more, but then that night at the club, he had kissed her.... or perhaps more accurately speaking, they had shared a kiss. As brief as it may have been, it was still a kiss and she enjoyed it more than she should have in the short time it took before she pushed him away. With this latest experience refreshing her memory of exactly what it feels like, it was much harder to keep from thinking about it. At least while she was awake, she could try distracting herself with something else, but in her dreams, there was no way around it. This latest one was the most intimate yet as it's the first time in several years she has thought about sex in such detail. At this rate, there would be absolutely no convincing her husband that what she feels is lacking in their marriage has nothing to do with physical intimacy. gonk
Aside from that, there was also the problem of her having kissed another man.... or something like a man? confused Vassnta certainly doesn't seem like a woman at least sweatdrop ... not that his gender or lack thereof really changes anything. Even if she did push him away before long, she was still a willing participant before that point, and that was unforgivable. She had thought about returning to Norrath the morning after in an effort to prevent any other such happenings, but she was afraid that even if she said nothing to her husband about it, he would somehow know. And the consequences for it would be much more severe than one might imagine: incurring the wrath of an iksar more often than not meant death, and she knew her husband was no exception. Before marrying, he had even stated once that he would not only feel justified in killing a woman and her mate if she had cheated on him, but he thought it to be his obligation to kill them. Perhaps that should have sent up a warning flag, but at the time she thought she had nothing to worry about as cheating was something she figured she would never do.
It seems she is now on the precipice of destroying her marriage and her own life along with it. One step in the wrong direction and everything would come tumbling down. Normally being upfront with her husband would be the logical answer, but with a matter that could cost her life, it no longer seemed like a viable option. Staying there with Vassnta didn't exactly seem wise either. There was at least a chance that her husband might show her some lenience for one kiss, but anything more was out of the question. Though, being that she is still there at the apartment with the man she kissed rather than leaving may in itself be more than he can tolerate. In that case, it is already too late for her.
The situation is bad all around, and in the time she has spent mulling it over this past week locked away in the bedroom, she still hasn't found the answer. She doesn't really know anyone to ask advice from either without being judged. Tes might be helpful if she could even manage to get a hold of him, but then again, he might also just get hung up on wondering why she married an iksar in the first place. And considering part of her dilemma involved her having dreams and fantasies about his clone, he's more likely to tease her than hear her out. She doesn't trust Ryzan would have her best interests at heart if he knew. Everyone else in Geezerville barely knows her, or her them. Spending more time sitting around and beating herself up about it wasn't going to help anything either. Something would have to be done eventually, and no matter what it was, the consequences weren't going to be pleasant.
Tired now of her depressing thoughts, she pushes her panda aside and digs under the bed, pulling out a sketchbook she had found in the room earlier that week. The first several pages are things that Draa had done, none of it particularly refined. In her self-imposed confinement, she had begun to draw on the blank pages, partially just to pass the time but mostly as a medium to let out the things she felt she couldn't say to anyone. She flips to the last sketch she started and blushes slightly as she looks it over, turns to a new page, then finds a pencil and some of the naked pictures Vassnta had taken of himself, which she had been using as references.
As she works, the new sketch comes to depict herself and Draa sharing a rather personal moment. ::

*Shopping helped a bit yesterday. She got some decent pillows, a comforter and a plush down mattress top. This should help TREMENDOUSLY because if anything she really does need decent sleep. She also drug him into Upper GGG to shop at some specialty stores to purchase some essentials like some of her facial cleanser, night cream, and a nightgown. She also made him wait while she had a manicure and a pedicure as long as she was somewhere decent. She did some window shopping to view some of the new fur coats that are out for the season heart and they went to a small Bavarian bakery for a spot of coffee and a dessert to share.
Today was pretty uneventful. They both broke out their laptops and worked together in the kitchen…William doing "police stuff" and Psy checking up on MW, conferencing with Kyle so both she and William could see if any new information was revealed about Katana or her alleged "connection." Kyle reported that things were as they had always been. No suspicious activity, at least normal for MW's standpoint and nothing of the sort has been uncovered. She thanked Kyle and when she hung up the video conference William leaned back in his chair with his hands clasped behind his head.* I don't have anything turning up over there from the Department either. Nothing out of the ordinary at least. This could be good meaning that Kat's dealer is out of town. It wouldn't surprise me. I'd think she'd be pretty careful and wanting to seek out some really good stuff. Not have a connection like that too close to home. neutral *This perspective made Psy furrow her brow and stare at her husband. stare Although he may be accurate in his statement, it still was hard for her to hear.* We'll give it a little more time for good measure.
For dinner, they stopped at the Irish Pub William had taken her before and Shamus was delighted to see the couple. He had them sit at the bar so he could wait on them personally. Shamus takes note of Psy's attire, her professionally manicured flawless fingernails and can tell she's wearing some high grade fragrance for sure. The luck of the Irish must be upon me to have such a lovely lass at me bar. wink *Shamus smiles broadly at Psy as he picks up a glass to wipe clean. Psy giggles. lol The couple places their order for dinner and Shamus gets William a black and tan and Psy a glass of ice water. She takes a sip and then inquires.* Shamus, how long have you been acquainted with my husband? *Shamus puts down the clean glass in the proper location and rubs his hand on his chin, contemplating. Let's see now. I believe I first laid eyes on him when he was fresh out of the Police Academy. A young buck with some of his buddies fresh out came here in celebration. The whiskey was flowing free that night and we had a houseful. This one… *Shamus motions to William.* …this one is a quiet one compared to his mates he was with. Then some bloke full of piss and vinegar shoves him. Now i don't like trouble in me bar so I told em to settle it like men. And THAT is when the arm wrestling begun. pirate
*William facepalmed and took a large gulp of his beer while Psy grinned.* Arm Wrestling? Oh Shamus do tell. wink *Psy winks at William and he puts his arms up waving to Shamus.* No. You can stop any time now. *Shamus laughs as he continues for Mrs. Dougherty.* Aye fair lass. Wagers were taken and a table pulled up proper. The two men peeled off their shirts as the crowd gathered round. It was close. Back and forth, back and forth, a brute show of strength and endurance. *Their food order is ready and Shamus excuses himself to get it for them. Dougherty takes another drink of his beer shaking his head, a bit embarrassed in front of his beloved. She sips her water coyly and then lean in close to whisper to him.* And I expect a display of this "brute strength" tonight when we get home. wink
*Shamus returns with their food and places plates in front of each of them.* Now where was I? OH yes. It was a close one indeed, but in the end Dougherty here gave it his all and almost sent the bloke flying off of his chair. pirate *Shamus picks up another glass to wipe it down.* It was a long time ago fair lass. He's been a loyal regular customer ever since. But I don't know why he kept you such a secret. wink *Shamus waggles his eyebrows at Psy and she puts her napkin to her mouth as she giggles again.*
