She slapped his arm playfully. she had a feeling she might be pale as well.

"What? I didn't do anything." He said with a smile as he tried to act all innocent.

"Sure you didn't." She smiled and shook her head.

"Nope, didn't do anything at all." He chuckled softly, giving her a playful little shove as he leaned against her.

She had to hold onto his arm tightly so she didn't fall. She could hold her own again but still wasn't fully stable. As they got closer to the house her grandfather ran out looking quite worried.

"Bernadette what happened? What did you do to her?" He looked at the boy angrily.

"He didn't do anything to me Zeidy." She tried to get her grandfathers attention.

Alex was shocked to see the old man run out of the house towards them. That was the last thing he had expected. "Sir I swear, I didn't do anything. Something happened to her that neither of us are quite sure about. We were hoping you and your wife might know something."

"You can tell me Berny. What has he done?" He was sure this boy had something to do with her appearance.

"If anything he helped Zeidy. I swear he didn't do this." She touched her grandfathers cheek and looked into his eyes.

"Then what happened?" He became calmer.

"Inside.... Is Bubbee home yet?"

It was painfully obvious that the man didn't trust him, now more than ever and he made it a point to keep his mouth shut for now so he didn't say anything stupid.

"No... come in and rest." He tucked a piece of hair back and then noticed their hands. He huffed and ushered her in.

She looked back at Alex and tried to keep their hands laced.

Alex gave her hand a gentle squeeze before following her inside. Once in he wasn't quite sure what to say or do. Seeing the reaction her grandfather gave about them holding hands he didn't look forward to having to explain that whatever had happened had happened while they were making out.

She watched her grandfather, who was looking much better now, go into the kitchen and started banging things around. She moved to Alex, "I so sorry. Are you sure you want to stay?"

Alex looked at her a moment and gave the question a bit of thought before finally answering. "Not really... but I'm not gonna leave you here. I said we would do this together and I meant it."

She leaned up and kissed his cheek. "Okay." She gave him a small smile.

She came in the house and hung up her shall. She heard someone in the kitchen and then saw the two of them in the living room. "Oh I'm so happy you could join us Alexander." She hadn't really looked at her granddaughter yet.

Alex looked towards her grandmother for a moment and gave her a nod before averting his eyes, still feeling out of place.

She thought this was an odd response until she saw Bernadette. "Dieťa!..... What... What happened?" she rushed over.

"Thats what I need to talk to you about Bubbee." She got her grandmother to sit down before she went into telling her what had happened. The invasion of the shadow.
