*his eyes soften a bit as he looks at her* I know ... I'm afraid that will not always be possible though. Danger comes with the lifestyle I have chosen. My career deals with trying to keep everyone else safe. I may have to put myself in dangerous situations to protect those that I care for. Unfortunately, we come from different sides of the tracks, and this relationship, if there is to be one, will be chided by all. *looks down at his empty glass, then pours himself a shot of whiskey and slams it back*

I'm not used to being treated that way and that's why I can't go through with this. You have no idea what I've done in my life Dougherty and I'm in so deep that there is no way out.
