Actually, the new fluff might shock a lot of people. The little pre and post battle report blurbs show Necron lords discussing things like normal sentient beings, not quiet robots and post-battle one of them has a discussion with captain Sicarius about wanting to possess the body of Guilleman, only to burst out in laughter.

That might annoy a vocal bunch. Then again, it might annoy a lot of people when they see who the author is. sweatdrop

Eh...I can deal with Lords talking somewhat. They had a Pariah being fully voiced in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, with the Lord at least being somewhat vocal.

I just want to see what I need to do with my current Necron army to make it legal.

XD It almost looks like you're quoting the Cyber-Men from Doctor Who.

Why, what did you do to make them illegal?

I wouldn't worry too much about older armies becoming invalidated. All current units are still legal and present, some under a different guise, that's all. Only glaring omission appears to be the Pariahs, though those can easily be pressed into service as Lychguards.

Don't see Pariahs. I liked Pariahs.

They're Lychguard now. Or Crypteks if you got a bunch of them.

I'm not too familiar with the names and faction constructions and the like to really understand what you two mean. sweatdrop

Lychguard are an elites choice armed with Warscythes and Crypteks are a HQ choice that can be fielded solo or as a Royal Court squad.

Mat Ward
A Cryptek is one of the most flexible units in the Necron army list, and it's simplicity itself to tailor one to meet your needs. You'll certainly want to upgrade him to one of the five Harbingers. My favourite is the Harbinger of Despair, with his teleport-enabling Veil of Darkness, and terror-inducing Abyssal Staff. That said, there are plenty of other combinations waiting to be unleashed. Harbingers of Destruction add some anti-tank firepower, as well as enabling you to dispel or induce Night Fighting (through the Eldritch Lance and Solar Pulse respectively). Harbingers of Eternity grant re-rolls to their unit and sap the fighting ability of enemies (Chronometron and Aeonstave) whilst Harbingers of the Storm excel at blasting deep-striking and charging enemies with bolts of Strength 8 lighting (Ether Crystal and Lightning Field). Finally, Harbingers of Transmogrification use their mastery over the living rock to slow and stun their enemies (Seismic Crucible and Tremorstave). Armed with this knowledge, all you need now do is sit back, steeple your fingers, and cackle manically to yourself as you plan how your Cryptek can best humble your foes.

Still can't decide which to use? Then take several Crypteks and form them into a Royal Court to accompany your Overlord - that way, you can sizzle, slow, sap, terrify and electrocute your enemies in one go...

Wow, nice! No wonder the want for using them. Hell, with that kind of firepower, I can understand why people would think making them soft enough to have factions to be stupid.

Got to see a codex yesterday, looks good enough, I wasn't motivated enough to buy one, but it's a decent shot at reviving the metal zombies.

Not saying that it is bad, au contraire, it just didn't catch me fancy at all. I've heard good things about it from Dakka Dakka, though the WAAC crew is lamenting it for its supposed "weaknesses" and inability to dethrone the Imperial Guard as most powerful tourney army.
