I suggest the stopping of comparing rabbids to rabbits, there's not much in common except the ears and similar spellingis to the name, and a like of carrots.

They aren't very rabbit like so I wouldn't say they are mutant rabbits.
Also I'm having a hard time spelling rabbit because I'm so used to typing rabbid.

That is just strange. If it looks like a ribbit and walks like a rabbit and is hunted then it is a rabbit.

But rabbids don't walk like rabbits, they are only similar to rabbits in looks to the extent that we get that they are like bunnies, and they are definitely not hunted like a rabbit.
Haven't you ever played a Raving Rabbids game?
