Maddy Steel Sterling Ok, this is a LOT simpler. Commander Maddox didn't vanish after losing his case. At least 2 other episodes showed him or mentioned him specifically. Name either episode, or what the context was. We've seen Data writing to him in more than one occasion. In one episode Data is making a report to him as to what a normal day for him entailed. I'm sure it didn't end as a normal day in Data's life, but I'm unable to remember what it was that happened or what episode it was.
Hm. That's interesting.
We both remembered that the opening of "Data's Day" specified that Data was recording his activities and thoughts in a 24-hour period, and sending it to Maddox by request.
He was also mentioned in "Contagion" when Geordi was trying to figure out what was wrong- in this case, with Data.
The episode I THOUGHT he appeared in, he didn't. In "the Offspring", when Starfleet sent someone to take custody of Lal, it wasn't Bruce Maddox they sent- it was Vice Admiral Anthony Haftel.
Starfleet DOES have more than one cyberneticist, but I thought Maddox's obsession would have made him first on the scene when there was any news. I suppose having someone else arrive- especially someone of higher rank than Picard- changed the episode, and added complications to it.

YoukaiLuvr Steel Sterling NEW question: What is a Kolvoord Starburst? I believe that's a starship maneuver - the one that got most of the Red Squadron killed...I think. (TNG...or DS9, I think.) It's either that, or a drink at Quark's. xp Sorry I've been AWOL...it's been insanely busy lately - barely had time to check on my aquarium and daily things like that. But I'm back now.
No problem. Can you give us a little more information on the Kolvoord Starburst, like how it looks or how it's performed?
BTW, NOVA Squadron was the flight group. RED Squad was the TRAINING group. NOVA was connected with the Starburst.

The starburst, to the best of my memory (which at the moment isn't worth much), is a group of fighters in a tight spiral formation speeding toward a target before splitting off in different directions at the last possible second, thus creating a 'starburst' shape. I don't remember a particular number for the fighters, but six is ringing a bell for some reason.
And actually, now that I think about it, I could be getting the Nova Squad mixed up with one of Tom Paris' adventures - one of the ones that's revealed in the books and therefore not applicable in this thread. He was, however, on a top flight squad at the academy, and caused an accident that got nearly all of them killed, but I don't remember the name of it.
So it's quite possible that even if I got the answer right, my source wasn't right...dunno if that still counts. sweatdrop sweatdrop

"PICARD: Five ships crossing within ten meters of each other and then igniting their plasma trails. One of the most difficult and spectacular demonstrations of precision flying. It hasn't been performed by an Academy team in over a century. Do you know why?
WESLEY: It was banned by the Academy following a training accident.
PICARD: An accident in which all five cadets lost their lives."
The reason you got them confused, obviously, is that both Tom Paris and Nicholas Locarno were played by Robert Duncan McNeill.

Steel Sterling NEW question! === This is a NextGen question. Picard had to spend part of an episode trying to unravel the way the Children of Tama communicated when they spoke. He had to work out different phrases-what concept each conveyed to the Children of Tama. What concept did each of the following convey? A) "Darmok and Julad at Tenagra." B) "Shaka, when the walls fell." C)"Timba, his arms wide." D) "Sucath, his eyes uncovered!" E) "Picard and Datha at El-Ardril." Three out of five, or better, to respond please. smile
i think i watched this episode a few months ago lol. lets see if i mess up...
A) he was trying to explain the historic hunt he wanted picard to partake in (i think). B) He was speaking about a previous failure in history. C) He wanted to share? maybe...lol D) Try to say that he was understanding it now. E) This was turning Picard and his own time on the planet into a new reference to use for the language.
Wow i hope i didnt ruin that horribly.
