Skylar continued to stare Himeji in the eye, as Himeji seemed to avert away from him more. Why wouldn't Himeji look at him? Was it because he couldn't bring himself to? Because...he was disgusted with him? He wanted to see him..to see his eyes...that way he could tell what he was thinking.

At his words, he was glad that Himeji finally looked at him, though he wasn't too keen on the look of surprise. What did Himeji have to be so surprised about?

As he thought about it...he knew even before Himeji had spoken.

"But... But didn't you just... leave me... for him... back there?"

The realization of his words cut Skylar like a cold, steel blade. He could see why Himeji would think that; Plus his wavering voice of utter devastation sent chills own his spine as more tears threatened to fall from his eyes.

"...I....I...did leave you alone...though I didn't mean for us to end. It was my fault; I have no excuse. I was so stupid....I'm sorry I didn't listen to you..." Skylar continued, his voice breaking as tears silently began to fall from his eyes again. "I'm weak..we both know it. I was upset that you always had to protect me and not the other way around. I was upset...that I couldn't do anything for you. So instead of talking to you about it, I let it fester in my mind, until I exploaded...hurting the one person who i'd never want to hurt. I know...I'm a stupid idiot." Skylar laughed scornfully, staring at the ground as tears fell while completly hating himself at that moment. He didn't deserve Himeji. The other deserved someone who cherised him...and wouldn't hurt him like he had just done. He wouldn't be surprised if Himeji broke up with him on the spot, which he expected to happen any minute.

Himeji looked up at last when Skylar finished with his statement.
What?
Had he really heard that right? Skylar hadn't meant to end it?
Without actually being able to reply, he just swept Skylar up in a hug, lifting Skylar up off of his feet and twirling him around.
"I love you," he whispered happily, already putting it behind him that Skylar had walked away.
He wasn't the type of person that was going to hold a grudge against someone, especially Skylar, for doing something like that, even if it completely shattered his heart.
Putting Skylar back down, he gave Skylar a soft squeeze and smiled, even if Skylar couldn't see his face from their position.
"I love you, I love you, I love you," he whispered, sighing with relief at the turn of events.
And he had been ready to let Skylar go already.
Well, all right. Not ready, but at least he would have let Skylar break up with him without a battle.
It was Skylar's choice.
If Skylar wanted him gone, then Skylar wanted him gone.
After all, Skylar had changed him from how he used to be, which was a cynical, selfish b*****d.
But now... now that he had found someone to care about... God he felt different.
Laughing a little, he fixed Skylar's dress, sure that it had turned some eyes as Skylar ran around looking for him.
But that could be fixed.
This relationship, on the other hand, Himeji knew was irreplaceable. Once it was gone, it was gone.
Stepping back, Himeji held Skylar at bent arm's length.
"You don't have to do anything for me... You being alive, being happy is all I need..."
His words took a slightly sad tone as he approached his next statement.
"Now tell me... Unless you really want to be here... I will let you go. Any man, or woman for that matter, is lucky to have you... even a... a..."
His fist clenched a little, but he let himself relax, for he was probably going to hurt Skylar if he continued, squeezing Skylar like that.
"A man like Kei," he finished. "So unless you really want to be with me, you can... can go. It doesn't matter if I love you. I always will."
His voice lowered to a whisper.
"It matters that you're happy... Only that..."

When Himeji heard those words, he knew for sure that his heart was complete. Though its wounds were still not fixed, at least Himeji knew that he had finally found the person—the one person that would be his forever. Or at least, the person that he wanted to be his forever. Whether that person would remain so would be up to them.
Not saying anything in reply, Himeji just held Skylar close, enjoying the moment of them together. Those words had been the best words that Himeji was sure he had ever heard Skylar say. The only thing better would be officially the words 'I love you,' but that could wait.
Himeji finally smiled and kissed Skylar's ear with as much gentleness as he could muster.
"Skylar... princess," he murmured, backing up and leaning down to kiss Skylar's hand.
Then, taking his own hand and wiping down Skylar's tears, Himeji continued, "Don't let these tears taint your beautiful countenance..."
Himeji chuckled and finished drying Skylar's cheeks. In the light of the moon, Himeji was sure that he had never seen anyone so beautiful in his life.
"You know," he joked, "If anyone's ever going to break us up, it's going to have to be you."
Though he was joking, Himeji meant his words. He knew that there was no way that he was going to leave this person in front of him. There was no way that Himeji would ever even think of abandoning Skylar...
"May I have this dance?" Himeji asked as he heard the music start up again from within the halls. He didn't intend to go back inside. No. This would be a private dance for a private moment between the two of them.
It would be just him and the love of his life.

Himeji just chuckled and took Skylar's hand, so happy that this ended in relative peace. Kei could have killed this relationship, and Himeji wasn't sure how he would have ever been able to handle that if that had happened.

"It's all right if you forgot. Just... just let me hold you and sway back and forth. No one's here to watch."

Himeji hugged Skylar to him and started taking his own advice, swaying back and forth. Himeji leaned his cheek down on Skylar's hair, feeling at peace in their time together.
This was what he wanted the whole night. Himeji had been yearning to spend some time with Skylar. He had actually wanted to spend the night with Skylar, but at the last moment, Himeji remembered that he had this engagement. At least it was better than going with his second cousin, which probably would have made this night terrible.
Then again, if his second cousin had gone, perhaps this whole Kei thing would never have happened.

"I'm the luckiest man in the world, Sky," Himeji whispered into Skylar's hair. "... No matter what happens, I want you to know that. I'll always be the luckiest man in the world, whether or not... whether or not we end up apart in the end." Himeji wasn't necessarily talking about breaking up. He was actually more hinting at the trip he knew he would have to make in ten days. Nine days until Christmas. Ten days until America. And then... then two years until he would see Skylar again... And by then, well, things could be different.

Himeji swallowed nervously. He hoped honest to god that that wouldn't happen. But then again, he wasn't planning on saying good bye. That meant that Skylar would probably be quite mad at him... but that was better than Himeji saying good bye. If he did, Himeji wasn't sure if he could even bring himself to leave or not.

((You know what I just remembered? There's still the last day of the festival tomorrow, and that Ran and Himeji still have that kiss in the play. xD))

Himeji grimaced at Skylar's words. Skylar was so close to the truth and he didn't even know it. Himeji was glad that Skylar couldn't see his sad expression right now, for he was sure that he probably couldn't hide it even if he wanted to.
Skylar was the only thing keeping him tied down to Japan for the moment, and it was a strong tie too. Himeji knew that once Christmas passed, he would face the absolute hardest day he would ever face in his life. But Himeji had to do it. It would better both of their futures.

"Sky... I won't ever leave you. I promise. I... I want you to know that I love your more than anything. More than my own life, more than my business obligations, more than my obligations to family, more than my reputation and image. Anything I do... is for you, even if... never mind. It's for you."

And that was true. Himeji was going away because he knew that if he became successful as a businessman, it would definitely help the two of them—that is, if they were even together then. But Himeji definitely intended it so, even if Skylar might think differently.
But if there was a way that Himeji knew to improve himself and not go to America, Himeji would take it. But America was an experience that Himeji knew he couldn't miss. Well, he could miss it if it would damage his relationship with Skylar beyond repair, but Himeji hoped that it wouldn't. He hoped honest to god.

When the music finished, Himeji glanced down at his watch. It was getting late, and they did have school tomorrow. These businesspeople knew that Himeji was still a student, and a high school student at that. It had been commonly accepted for Himeji to leave early considering his educational obligations.
As Himeji looked up to inside the ballroom, he saw Kei's silhouette at the door, staring straight at him with a smirk.
Himeji instinctively tightened his hold on Skylar and asked coldly but courteously, "Can I help you?"

((But today can't be Sunday since there was the second day of the festival yesterday, and the first day was the day before. How about we say that today is Thursday, and that there was no school on Thursday because teachers had to pull together a sudden meeting, and student government was excused from it because it was the week of the Fall Festival? So that means that Tuesday was the first day of the festival, Wednesday the second, Thursday there's no school, and Friday (tomorrow), is the final day of the festival? Then they're off on Christmas break until January 2 or something?))

Himeji couldn't hold Skylar back as Skylar ran off. It actually startled Himeji a little when Skylar spoke up against Kei's bitter words. Himeji had been about to reply with some bitter, yet refrained, words himself, but Skylar had beaten him to it.
But it was Skylar's words that surprised him most. Skylar had such a... naive and innocent view on things that it was hard for Himeji not to smile at what Skylar said. He didn't think that Skylar was right in his speculations, but it sure made him feel better that Skylar thought of him so highly that Skylar thought this video game company CEO looked up to Himeji.

Himeji chuckled as Skylar dashed off, suddenly unsure of his words. Skylar always managed to say things that surprised everyone within hearing distance, but he quickly changed his demeanor so quickly before anyone could say anything in return so deep and profound.

Himeji was pulled out of his amused mood by Kei's words.
Sh*t.
Himeji hadn't told Skylar, but Himeji didn't intend to. That would be too tough. Himeji wouldn't be able to stand Skylar saying good bye, even if Skylar did let him go.

"He... doesn't know," Himeji replied, putting one hand on the balcony and looking down onto the city below with dark contemplative eyes.
"And he damn well better not know," Himeji added steely, looking up right into the eyes of Kei.
"Let me handle my own life, Kei. And do not do something to him while I'm away."
It wasn't an idle threat, and they both knew it. But the only issue was that Kei was just as powerful, though in different ways than Himeji was. That would mean that if Himeji were to carry out his jealous threat, that Himeji would risk going down himself. All or nothing.
Then again, if Skylar willingly went, Himeji would let him go. But Himeji hoped to god that Skylar stuck to his word of loving Himeji... Well, actually, did Skylar ever say that he loved Himeji? Skylar had said practically everything besides the words "I love you," but that shouldn't make Himeji insecure, right?
Sheesh. Hold it together, Himeji. You're starting to think like an angsty teenager!

Himeji stood by silently as Kei said his good byes to Skylar, though he stared at Kei as coldly as he could, making sure that Skylar couldn't see his gaze thought. Kei and Himeji made eye connection, and Kei smirked, while Himeji frowned even more.
Leaving to America was a bad idea, it was turning out... But Himeji had faith in Skylar. And even if Himeji thought that Skylar would go for someone else, Himeji couldn't be an a*****e of a boyfriend and prevent Skylar from doing so. Skylar could go with whomever he wanted, though Himeji dearly hoped that it was him.

"So... what'd you guys talk about while I was gone?"

Himeji, lost in his thoughts and misgivings about going away, only replied, "Skylar, I love you, with all my heart. Forever."
He looked down at Skylar and brought a hand up to gently touch Skylar's cheeks. There were eight days left, not including the present day, but Himeji already felt as if there were only hours left. Minutes even.
"Please... Never forget that."
His expression broke into a small smile for a moment, locking eyes with Skylar and admiring Skylar's blush.

Breaking the sweet moment, Himeji looked away and laughed amiably.
"As for what we talked about... We just talked about our companies and their relative markets."
Himeji knew that if he brought business and economics into this, Skylar would probably be disinterested and avoid the subject, since he didn't understand half of that stuff. Himeji knew that Skylar found it a little boring, and he took advantage of that at the moment.
