Laying there on the sofa, Akihiko forced his body to just relax. His head hurt... it hurt to open his eyes, to move... to talk even. Like someone was chiseling away at the inside of his skull.
"Ruki, I..." but before he could protest about being fine, his manager was bringing this specialist in.
The man seemed professional enough, but... "I... I'm sorry I don't remember you. Don't take it personally though, my head's been through hell." Akihiko spoke, laying an arm over his eyes tiredly.
Why was he suddenly so exhausted?
"I had head trauma. A hemorrhage or something at the charity event. I underwent surgery but then I couldn't remember s**t... flew out to Hawaii for a vacation with Shou, ended up in the hospital again with another surgery because the doctors there figured out airplane cabin pressure and I don't get along anymore... came back to Japan... been here for a couple hours or so... was cooking and just... I woke up on the floor." Akihiko explained, glancing over at Izzy for a moment, almost guiltily. Then his blue eyes turned to the doctor again. "It... hurts. I felt fine before but when I woke up it just... hurts... when I move or talk or anything."
Meanwhile, on the phone with Izzy, Yuuji was listening as hard as possible to hear what his cousin was saying. "I need to know what the doctor says, Lucky-san. Damn it, I should have been there with the two of you."

The doctor nodded and stared checking him over as he listened. "I'll tell you this much, there will be no more flights for you for a long time. You shouldn't have been flying at all and I'm surprised that you were allowed. You're lucky to be alive."
The doctor careful examined the head and sighed. "It's the pressure changes that's causing this. And well, if you keep flying before that heals you might end up having more blackouts and maybe even another round of memory loss. I'm going to prescribe some medication to reduce the swelling in your skull for right now. Then, some other medication for future migraines. You might get a few while your brain is healing."
Izzy put the phone back on mic so Yuuji could hear better as the doctor was speaking.
"I know this is probably difficult to stomach but having taken care of Shou-sama in the past and you're probably just as stubborn but I'll flat out tell you that you need bed rest for awhile until your head's pressure has stabilized. No flying, No running off to tour. No driving. No driving your assistant crazy because you can't do what you want to do right now. Oh...well maybe that on is just for Shou-sama. You don't have an assistant do you? Mm...But reality is this Narcissus-san, you're human body needs you to stop being a superstar for awhile and given time to heal."
Seemed like the Doctor knew way too well what stubborn people stars were when they were driven past human limits. And as he spoke he got up and opened a very heavy case of medications. Pulling out a few packs he started setting up a prescription.
Meanwhile, Izzy watched and just took time to breath. He just wanted to hold Akihiko for awhile right now. He just wanted everything to be ok. "Doctor, what things will he be able to do?"
"Mmm...well once things stop pounding and swelling, normal relaxing things. Nothing high stress, no heavy lifting, things that don't require too much effort at least for a week. Then slowly add in light exercise and see how things go. Little by little add more activities but take things slow. No tours for awhile because the stress and bright lights might just knock you for a loop. I'd give yourself 3 months before you try to get back to the circuit. Have regular checkups...if not with me, your trusted physician. Brain scans just to watch for anything abnormal." answered the Doctor as he packed the pills and showed Narcissus what he was doing.
"These are for the migraines and here's the instructions. Right now, take two of these other pills." he handed him a pair of purple pills. "Those are for the swelling. You're going to take two of more of these in the morning and then two at night for the next few days. After those are gone then the migraine mediation is your next step if you feel like something is coming on. Now if you've any blackouts or memory lapses call me or your physician immediately." he finished as he glanced over at Izzy. "If he has bad emotion swings or becomes violent, then call emergency because that means the swelling has come back too fast for these purple pills to take care of."
"Ok." Izzy said as he sucked in more air...he still felt his heart racing. "Umm...did you hear all that Yuugi?" Izzy had also totally forgotten to use Yuuji's last name at the moment too.

"Yes, you can cook. But as for fun...if it's laying in bed watching TV fun...sure. If it involves huffing and puffing and push ups...If you catch my meaning. No. Not for at least 2 weeks. No extra curricular activities until your head is stable. Stick to the basics...and just take it easy. Better to get your head cleared up and healed than take a chance and have something worse happen. Right?" pointed out the doctor as he packed up his gear.
"From what I can tell your not the type to just sit around so for your musical interests...you can write songs, play piano, strum your guitar. As long as your not stressing your head. As far as the bill, Yamada-san's covering that under Shou's medical plan just to save me paperwork. So, you can owe him. Are there any other questions you have, Narcissus-san." The doctor didn't say how much he thought that someone, he didn't know who, was a complete idiot for making Narcissus travel anywhere by plane under those conditions.
Meanwhile, Izzy took note of all that and realized that the next few weeks would be very slow for Akihiko. The man would go nutty if he didn't have something to do but this would be something he'd deal with. "Yes, I know that." he answered Yuuji as he started to come off of his emotional high getting a wee bit angry at the way Yuuji was talking to him. So he walked further way so the doctor couldn't hear what he had to say next. His managerial side taking full opportunity to put Yuuji back in his place, "Look Takagi-san. If I had any idea that his head trauma would have caused this, then we surely wouldn't have been flying back to Japan where I have to freeze my a** in the dead of winter. We would have been far better off staying in LA. AND... I'm not a complete hormone. I'm a mature adult and I'd appreciate it if you'd remember it. I don't need a babysit and I'm competent enough to handle the situation now that I've a clear understanding of what that is. I'm just lucky that Shou has a physician on short call, who happens to drive a Hummer and was willing to come help. I don't know what I would have done otherwise. And if Akihiko knows what is good for him, he'll stay with in the doctor's parameters or have hell to pay with me." Now this was definitely the manager that Yuuji knew. A very irritated manager rather than the emotional lover of previous moments. Izzy knew he had gone from one extreme to the other but it seemed like he never got off that roller coaster of problems lately.
Izzy knew after he was off the phone with Yuuji, he'd probably spend several minutes on the phone with Shou. Just to recenter himself. At least, he didn't lose Akihiko again to this brain trauma. That was what he had feared deep within. That after all this work...after all the hell they had been through just to have everything ruined in one fell swoop.
As he walked back to the room where Akihiko was with the doctor, he realized that the cake...and dinner was probably going to be a lost cause. He could try to cook the shrimp....bake the cake....maybe if he worked really hard he could avoid burning things. But Christmas Eve...his birthday...while for moments had been wonderful....ended badly. Why couldn't they just have days without...catastrophic issues?

From his end of the conversation, once Izzy was done ranting at him of course, Yuuji smirked. "Good. Seems like you're back to your old self then."
Takagi had purposefully pissed off the megane-clad man in order to get him centered and focused... better than panicking and tearful any day. And if Yuuji had to be the bad guy to get that done, then he would.
"I'll have a Ohayou physician notified to check on Akihiko every couple of days as soon as the blizzard dies down." he continued, typing an email up in regards to that very thing. "Call me and let me know if there are any changes. Happy Birthday, Lucky-san." the man spoke before hanging up and not letting Izzy get a word in.
Meanwhile, Akihiko was still laying on the sofa. "Hai... nothing strenuous... god you know how to ruin my new years plans..." he said, obviously not liking the idea one bit.
He FINALLY had Izzy! Now they couldn't even...
Sighing again, the musician's blue eyes glanced over to his manager who was on the phone. "Arigatou, sensei... I'll take your advice. Completely. Yakusoku. If I lost my memories again... I don't know what I'd do to be honest."
(((OOC: Gomen nasai... I've felt like s**t all day and kept having to run to the bathroom thinking I was going to puke... I can't even stomach chicken soup for godsake! So that may be my only post tonight... I'm sitting here nibbling on animal crackers... -sigh- I think I caught a bug... sinuses are screwed up, my muscles ache... I can't get warm and when I do then I get UBER warm and I can't cool down again... plus I slept all day til like 4pm!!! That's 14 hours!)))

Oooh! Izzy just fumed when he discovered that was one of Yuuji's tricks! Good grief! The man was a crafty b*****d! All he wanted to do was reach through that phone and grab the man by his shirt collar then put him in his place!! But even before he could get a word in edgewise, Yuuji hung up!
"Grr.." he muttered as he ended his side of the call. "Thank you doctor. It seems Ohayou's physician will be checking up on Narcissus-san after the blizzard dies down so hopefully things will go smoothly from here on out. But I am so glad you were able to come on short notice. I really appreciate it."
The doctor buttoned his case and stood up glancing at Narcissus, "You're welcome. Please do. I'd like to hear your newest album sooner rather than later. And I can't promise what would happen if you lost your memories a second time."
Then his eyes drifted towards Izzy as he prepared to get his coat and shoes, "Good, I'm glad Ohayou's physician will be available. Oh it's quite alright. I work on Shou-sama's staff when he tours so I've gotten used to the calls at all hours. It pays well but I never expected to come to his rival's house."
His smile brightened as he turned and walked to the doorway. Izzy followed him and helped carry the bags. "Well, we really do appreciate it. I'm amazed you were able to make it here considering the weather."
"Oh well with my Hummer it really does make a difference. And this location isn't too far out. But it will take me awhile to get home." replied the doctor as he put on his coat and slipped on the shoes. "I'm looking forward to hot coffee and my comfy slippers."
Izzy laughed and then opened the door, "Be careful on the road and if for some reason you get stuck close, come back here. We've got room."
"Arigatougozaimasu." The doctor waved as he loaded the vehicle and soon his 4 wheel drive was rolling out.
When Izzy came back inside, he closed the door and leaned against it for a few minutes before walking back into where Akihiko rested. "Just stay here and relax. I'll be back in a little bit...."
He was hungry but salad wasn't going to be enough for either of them. So he was determined to somehow manage the dinner...and that cake batter. Turning away, he walked down the hall and then off towards the kitchen, rolling up his sleeves while dialing back Shou in the mean time.
And this was that enlightening conversation....
"Hey, Shou...Do you know how to grill shrimp? After all this we've not had dinner and...well...Akihiko was starting to grill the shrimp...but...."
"Grill shrimp?" asks the star who needed Narcissus for the simple task of making pancakes. "Ah......mm....Let me think. Well first you need a...very hot...grill."
"That part, I've got...." said Izzy as he looked at the stove and seeing the grill like feature. "Oh here is the knob....Flame on!"
"OK...we've got fire. Umm.. Umm.. " Shou looked up at the ceiling and at this point tried to envision Jun cooking...Jun cooked. Not Shou....this was really out of his league! "Ok...you need to put the shrimp over the grill with something... something...something umm....like tongs?"
"Oh....Tongs. So like hold the shrimp over the grill with the tongs? Uh...I've also got all this stuff that I think Akihiko was going to dip the shrimp in....Uh...and then there is this cake batter. What do I do with that?"
"Cake batter? Wait was he breading the shrimp before he grilled. No that can't be...He'd have to fry those right?" pondered Shou as he started to pace. Maybe he needed to get help quick before he and Izzy created something that couldn't be salvaged. At least, this wasn't a can of beans....but still!
"Uh...that's my birthday cake batter Shou...I was thinking maybe if I microwaved it, it might rise. I don't want to go back and ask Akihiko, he looked pretty miserable after the doctor told him what his limitations are." said Izzy as he walked over and opened the microwave door and sat the big ceramic bowl inside. He hadn't turned it on yet waiting for Shou's comments but he reasoned that it probably was a feasible cooking solution.
"Micro....wave......?" Shou's eyes blurred at the thought. "Ah...Izzy.. I think it might work. Doesn't Hello Kitty have that mug cake batter that you microwave? I think she does. Maybe it is a good idea. Hmmm... Umm...I think...I think I'll as JUN! Just a second!"
Shou walked into hall outside his suite and rapped his knuckles on Jun's door calling out because he wasn't sure if Jun would be able to hear him with the guitar. "JUN! I need help. I can't grill shrimp and bake a cake at the same time and Izzy needs to make this right now. He wants to microwave the cake. I think that might be a good idea because Hello Kitty does it. What do you think? And is it best to use tongs to hold the shrimps over the fire?"
And if that didn't speak the obvious, it was probably a good thing that Izzy and Shou only had cans of beans and olives on their long journey.

Jun did indeed hear a rap-tap-tapping at his door over the sounds of Shou's angelic guitar. The words he heard as he put the instrument down, however, left his jaw practically hitting the ground.
Oh.....kami-sama......microwave? Hello Kitty? s**t....
Needless to say, the dark star laughed his way over to the door, opening it and pulling Shou right into the room, planting a chaste kiss on his forehead as he continued to chuckle.
"Just because Hello Kitty does something doesn't mean it will work in every situation, ya know." he teased, plucking the cell phone from Shou's fingers.
"Lucky-san? Hayato-desu. So...you need to grill shrimp AND bake a cake? Ok, let's begin with the cake first, because it will take longer to prepare. Is the batter ready? Ok....find a cake pan, or two cake pans if you want to make a round layer cake. Spray the pans down with cooking oil or rub them with shortening and lightly dust them with flour. Preheat the oven to 325 then pour the batter into the pan or pans, then put them in the oven and bake for about 25 minutes. When they are done, set them aside to cool, then flip the pans over onto a cake plate...or any large plate, then frost them however you see fit." the vocalist explained as slowly and in depth as he could, trying all the while not to laugh out loud. The whole Hello Kitty thing had really thrown him for a loop. Poor Shou...and poor Izzy Lucky. It really was a miracle they had survived. But...they had survived.
Dark eyes glanced up at Shou for a moment, and Jun couldn't help but smile. There was his angel. Shou was alive. Alive! He hadn't really thought about just how thankful he was for only that until this very moment. Even if he never had Shou again, at least he lived.
"Ok, Lucky-san...how is everything going?" he asked, checking in on the manager.

For a moment, Jun's eye twitched. Hard. Was this...some sort of joke?
Pulling the phone away for a moment, he glanced to Shou with questioning eyes.
"Shou...is this...." but he paused, noting that Shou had been serious the entire time. Oh....dear....god. How was this even possible, coming from two grown men?
"Nevermind...." he said to the blond, bringing the phone back to his ear.
"Ok...Lucky-san....I need you to slow down for me. I didn't know you needed as much help as you did. You need a cake pan, which should be either a square or round metal pan that resembles a layer of a cake, if it's smaller, or resembles something more like a sheet cake....rectangular. Do you understand? Shortening is something like Crisco...or you can use Pam cooking spray...or even rub a light coating of vegetable oil inside the pan. Whatever you do, DO NOT used sesame oil, olive oil, or butter. It will burn the cake. And I mean it when I say a light coating. Use very little. Now...what does the grill look like? The flames shouldn't be above the grate, Lucky-san" he coached. This was like trying to teach a home-ec class to a middle-schooler. At best!

"Yare yare, my tenshi. Seems you might be coming down with something. Don't go blaming it on me, though. A cold takes a while to spread through your system before you show symptoms. It's a virus, after all. Just relax into the warm water, you'll be fine." the violinist chuckled lightly, gently swaying with Naoko in his arms.
"I understand what you're saying, though. I don't like to fight with you, either. Things really are the best when it's just us, alone...doing what we want to do...but that can't always be our life. I can no longer return to those days free of bloodshed These deep scars rooted within me will not disappear...
Jun heard every word Shou said, noticed just how....intimately....he seemed to know the man. Well....they had been alone together for quite a long time, so.....
So......
For a moment, Jun paused, glancing over his shoulder at Shou. His Shou. He could never admit otherwise...and the very thought of Shou being with anyone else made a jealousy begin to stir deep inside himself the likes of which he had never known...but he pushed it away, certain that nothing was there between his beloved and Izzy Lucky. Lucky-san was with Narcissus-san, and he knew Narcissus loved that man more than anything. He was being...foolish.
"Ah...yes, those are exactly the kind of pans you need. Now, after yo spray them lightly with Pam, sprinkle a light dusting of flour on the inside of the pan to keep everything from sticking. Pour the batter evenly into both pans and bake for 25 minutes." he explained carefully, glad that the manager was actually managing to do this, given the...delicacy...of the situation. He certainly didn't want to be the one held responsible for Narcissus' house getting burned down. Hell...he'd done enough to both Narcissus-san and Lucky-san...he just wanted that to be far away in the past. If anything, he wished he could make up for it...but it's just not possible to make up for some things, he felt.
"Alright...now, for the shrimp...have they been seasoned yet? If not, I would recommend some garlic and lime juice with a dash of pepper. Put the shrimp on the grill and let them cook for five minutes on each side, then they should be done. If they still look undercooked, cook them for an additional two minutes on each side, and you should be good to go." the dark vocalist went on, coaching Izzy through every step.

Oh, there was NO WAY his directions had been that hard that this man was actually having difficulties! Just....spray the pan LIGHTLY! Flour it LIGHTLY. What had he gotten himself into?
Sighing, Jun hung his head, peeking up at Shou through his long black locks.
"I don't know, my doll, but I'm giving it all I've got." he said, almost nervously, to the pajama-clad star.
Turning back to the phone, he began coaching again.
"Ok. Make sure you set a timer for the cake so it doesn't burn. Yes...take the burned shrimp off of the grill and dispose of them. Now, just follow my directions for cooking the shrimp and they should come out fine. Use a pair of tongs to handle the prawns so that you don't get burned. Are you coming along ok, Lucky-san?" he couldn't help but smile as he spoke. This poor man really had no idea what to do on his own. He needed lessons, at the very least. Smiling with his hand over his mouth to stifle the laughter, Jun looked over at Shou, obviously amused now at the situation.
