Wargaming 2.0 according to them.

Okay, boiling it down it's like this: You play the game with a laptop and software. You move the models, log the movement into the gridmap of the software and the software does everything else from rolling to telling you where you can move.

Basically, it's a tabletop game that can do without the minis seeing as the software does everything for you, you just stand around like an idiot moving units from one map grid to the other and that's it.

Here's a demo game showing off just how pointless the miniatures are to this game: ]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJ9oztrkSBs

Phuh. If I wanted to play a video game, I'd play a video game.

Also, goddamn announcer mispronounced melee and morale. ********. And there's an audible c at the end of Franc! ******** hell.

-=Edit: And he couldn't pronounce elite! What. The. ********.

They are Canadian, go figure.

That stupid big model is giving me headaches. The face or head or whatever seems to float, the texture of the arms does not match the torso and I can see the mold lines between the legs.

Yes, welcome to Ex Illis, wargaming 2.0

Man, you should see the company sock puppets they got over at Dakka Dakka, it's just pathetic the way they defend that sorry excuse for a game.

edit.

For those who want to try the software and the *snicker* game:

http://forum.ex-illis.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2622&sid=25232ae58966b80a05be5165ffb1fb60

There you can download a 30 day trial and paper proxies for the models.

the game software looks kinda neat... but I like my creative building methods... and my thinking out the box really wouldn't work with a computer... but it's neat.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 08, 2010 12:13 pm
The idea is there and it could work, but it's just too limited in what you as a player can do. You can move units and decide whether to move or attack when you win a combat. That's it.

Other cons include:
- Expensive boxed sets
- Units require registering before you can play (you must enter the serial on the inside of the box to add it to your army in the software)
- You can't sell or give away units to other people, they can't use them due to registration
- Ex Illis will soon be performing micro-transactions where you can buy new and special abilities for units at a small fee
- Also, here are the stats of a unit:

Characteristics

* HP: 40
* Toughness: 20
* Fatigue Rate: 125%
* Veil Rate: 100%
* Initiative: 100
* Bulk: 2
* Aggressiveness: 4
* Movement: 1

Main melee weapon

* Weapon Damage: 20
* Armour Piercing: 10
* Retaliate: 50%

Secondary melee weapon

* Weapon Damage: 10
* Armour Piercing: 10

Ranged Weapon

* Weapon Damage: 0
* Armour Piercing: 0

Muster

* Number of Miniatures: 5-8
* Point Cost: 40
* Affinities: Mercenary 100%
* Muster Category: Melee

Offence

* Strength: 21
* Shooting: 0
* Magic: 19

Charge

* Charge Priority: 2
* Reaction Priority: 1

Accuracy

* Melee Accuracy: 40
* Ranged Accuracy: 0
* Magic Accuracy: 0

Morale

* Basic Morale: 80
* Morale Sensitivity: 100%
* Morale Type: Standard
* Intimidation: 3.75

Defence

* Block: 20
* Evade: 10
* Deflect: 10

Protection

* Armour: 24
* Shield: 3
* Missile Block: 40%

Resistance

* Lightning 20
* Fire 20
* Ice 20
* Earth 20
* Water 20
* Wind 20
* Light 20
* Dark 20

When I mentioned at DD that I prefer to roll dice instead of lugging around a laptop they told me that without the software it would take the devs an hour to calculate one round of combat, heavily implying that only really smart people could do it without the software.

- Also, it didn't help when they called their target audience "elitist wargame nerds". talk2hand

Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Enter Shikari, Slayer and other loud tunes that horns go with. I also played a song of Pulled Apart By Horses in their honour, they sadly couldn't make it. cry
