I do NOY think MCR is emo. other people hear a song like helena and automatically think MCR is emo, just because the song talks about death.

RAYBUNNi I do NOY think MCR is emo. other people hear a song like helena and automatically think MCR is emo, just because the song talks about death. EXACTLY! I ******** HATE that. when people say Mcr is emo i ask them what their favorite band is and why they think Mcr is emo. And everytime ive found some DUMB lyric in that band's songs that is 3 times MORE emo that any mcr lyric. I highly suggest you try it next time some is giving you s**t.

I do agree that their first set of songs is slighty more emo than the rest But i think its more just a "corrupted state of mind" kind of cd instead of a "kill your self because no body loves you."

Way Down` Edit: Yes sad but true i once hated MCR. D;;;; Same here =( I used to make fun of them and mock the "Helena" video... But I really regret it now, saying it was a few months back *cries* And my friends call them goth and emo... it gets really annoying... Like I'd go into school and they would come up to me and say, "You know MCR is goth and emo, right?" And i'd be like, "MCR as in My Chemical Romance? Sorry, but you have them confused with someone else..." POWER TO THE FANS =D

It depends how you see it really. Cause i wouldnt call 'Teenagers' emo. But what i find with any kind of music is, all of it can be emo because emo is emotional right, well all music can be emotional i think it just depends on how you see it. Like er.....*picks song at random* okay the titanic song, thats singing about love so its an emotional, does that make it emo? but thats just what i think

i don't consider mcr emo, but people have different perceptions of what emo is, and their are so many different opinions about "emo" out there, it's hard to change a person's mind.

seriously, what is emo anymore? at first i thought it meant you were a cutter, then i hear it simply means that youre emotional, and so many other definitions of the word. so i mean seriously, if emo means emotional like it should, then who freaking cares if music gets emotional? it shows that they actually care about something and arent just doing it for the money. I personally don't care how people see MCR. Well, okay, I do. But you know what, I don't care what the haters think. They just like to trash everyone's music and listen to their crappy, boring music that apparently is so cool. Screw them! But you know what? Who freaking cares? I don't because MCR is an amazing band that writes good music from the heart and doesn't just care about money. So forget all the haters because there are so many true fans who know the truth about MCR!!! Yay fans!!! Hmmm, I guess that makes four rants today. Cool, I wonder if I'll have a fifth...
P.S. Who cares if a band writes about death? It's not death is just some sort of myth created to scare little children, it's a real thing people have to face so who cares if a band writes about it? It actually inspried me to start living life to the fullest. So, yeah.

heh in my opinion I dont think so...but just out of curiosity...some people class the band members themselves "emo" or do you mean the type of music. I dont really care if suddenly MCR turned to making emotional music...theres nothing wrong with feelings. But when people say the individuals are emo I just dont get it. You cant be a music genre for goodness sake! Its like saying someone was "rock" or "classic". But whatever...the meaning of emo seems to have changed.
My rant for today...just did an impromptu speech on emo in english class today..^^

I suppose they aren't. Even if they were who cares? They are still the best band ever. Pesonally my favorite album was three cheers. Also, there is nothing wrong with being emo.

people say they're goth, punk-rock, rock, emo, but like they've said, they haven't heard anything like them, so they should not be catagroizied. i really don't care what people say they are. because they're nothing but my chemical romance. it's their name and their genre. it's what they are and what they do.

the are emotional... as emo is conserned, they are as emo as marilyn manson, or christina agularia, it takes emotions to be a good enough poet to write music (not like christina writes her own though...)

For me, "emo" isn't really a derogatory word, but can be used as one.
To me, emo as in music or kids doesn't mean wrist-slitting or being sad/messed up 24/7. I think it's more being unabashedly unafraid to show your feelings or fashion sense and things like that. And having a license write ridiculously flowery and emotional power ballads. So, if MCR(Or other bands, inc FOB, TBS, AFI, etc.) are called emo as an umbrella term in shorthand conversation (Like, me blathering to my friends), that's OK to me.
But, if people mean "emo" as endlessly sad, weepy, and wrist-slashing and s**t like that, then it's NOT OK.
Yeah, so I don't find it offensive if people do call MCR emo, but in some ways it can be offensive.
