needs a name themagikat Oterys My reccomendations would be anything by Marilyn Manson, or Type O Negative. Also anything by Nightwish, and Linkin Park...just to name a few. linkin park isnt goth though... this kinda fits into that other thread but linkin park is definately not goth, it leans mor eon tragic emo than goth (and barely that) Linkin Park is Nu Metal, not Emo. whee I'd hug you if I didn't have problems with, you know... touching?

coriander18 Danthalas Ok, i'd say this song is a must for any goth collection... "Temple of Love" - Sisters of Mercy. Sorry if i like the old stuff quite passionatly and obsessively... wait... no... no i'm not, it's my opinion. Well I think four things are a must for a goth collection. Sisters of Mercy-Either temple of Love or This Corrision Bauhaus-Bela Lugois Dead Joy Division- Love will tear us apart Siouxsie and Banshee's- Dear Prudence
I definatly agree with that, but i'd say more of Bauhaus - Stigmata Martyr actually

Argh! -head combusts- I hate it when people put the genres "goth" and "metal" together. It's like saying "I listen to country hip-hop." They. Just. Don't. Work. Together. Period!
[ D i z z y ] I said "Goth is (in literal terms) dead". Technically Goth was some of sort of really old religion back in the day that died out. But in the say, 70s - 80s those punkadelic british/ american kids started to try to be all bad-a** and call themselves Goth. I don't think Goth was ever a religion. The term was first seen around a thousand and a half years ago, with the Germanic Barbaric tribes calling themselves the Goths, or the Visigoths and Ostrogoths. If they had a religion, it was most likely pagan. Later the term "gothic" was applied as a criticism of architecture that was pre-Romanesque-- "goth" being an allusion to the architecture being dark and unrefined. The term resurfaced again in the late nineteenth century, as a reference to some romantic literature and pre-Raphaelite art. I believe the Doors were one of the first bands to be called "gothic" by a music critic, and Siouxsie and the Banshees years later used it to describe their sound. Thus was the beginning of a genre.
Meh. I'm so fuzzy on my European History. I flunked that class last year. sweatdrop But I'm probably pretty close to accurate.

I knew Bela Lugosi's Dead would come up eventually. It's like the staple goth club song....and a little overrated in my opinion.
And Floodland is just an awesome cd all around. 3nodding

Realm_Of_DarkNess Bauhaus- "She's In Parties" or "Stigmata Martyr" The Cure -"One Hundred Years" or "The Drowning Man" Sisters Of Mercy -"Ribbons" or "Marian" Joy Division-"New Dawn Fades" or "Disorder" Christian Death-"Spritual Cramp" or anything goes from Rozz Williams lol Burning Image-"Time Is Running Out" London After Midnight-"A Letter To God" or "This Paradise" Clan Of Xymox-"Innocent" or "Internal Darkness" The Cruxshadows-"Foreverlast (Mesh Remix)" You like the Cruxshadows new stuff? Personally, I'm not that impressed with their latest album. Their lyrics can be kind of lame ("I heard the angels cry" "have you ever heard the butterfly cry" mad ) and Foreverlast is no exception. I thought Ethernaut was their best effort to date, but then Chris quit the band, and apparently he was the main creative force behind Ethernaut..... -sigh- I fear their best days may be over. Pity. Ethernaut was so good.
