"Deal," Methos said. "Good night, and don't loose your head."

"Same, doubt you really have a prob with that but it's the thought that counts I guess." With that as a parting she slipped out, at lest knowing where she was good enough to pick the right direction to walk off in.

Methos woke the next morning, burrowed deep in his warm covers, with the vague sense that he had done something unbelievably stupid the night before. It took a moment as he lay there, letting the fog clear his brain, but then he sat up with a curse.

Slapping his forehead a few times with the flat of his hand, he intoned, "Idiot" before heading off for a shower. The ancient Romans had instilled a sense of personal cleanliness in him that persisted to this day. Of course, they had also crucified him once, too.

Clean, dressed, and checking his email, Methos thought briefly about standing Phoenix up. He had no qualms about ducking out on people, especially when another immortal was involved. It's not like I'm taking her on as a student, he told himself. I don't do the teaching thing anymore.

His last student had been Lord Byron, and he had done a terrible job with the reckless poet. Of course, he hadn't exactly kept it impersonal, which never helps. Before that had been Gaston Marceau...

Glancing at the clock, he cursed again and got up, grabbing a cooler stocked with cans of beer and his coat. "Might as well get this nonsense started."

It only took about thirty minutes of an alarm clock blaring in Phoenix's ear to finally get her up, though she beat the alarm clock into silence, or rather put a dagger that laying on the table next to the annoying thing through it. She went through alarm clocks quickly, normally about one a week, which explained why there was a messy stack of them off to the side. By the time all this happened it was till after noon and she was trying to figure out why her alarm was set in the first place, her sleepy mind didn't exactly put things together to well better being slightly sleep deprived and she just hadn't had her coffee yet. Figuring it had to be for some reason or another she got up and went about getting ready, first on the list making coffee, and it wasn't till she was about a quarter of the way through it finally hit her memory why she was up at all and she promptly cursed and dropped the mug on the kitchen counter to scurry off to get dressed.

So needless to say she was out of the hotel room about ten minutes later still trying to put on a shoe as she hopped out the doorway only to fall flat on her face, nope, she was not a morning person, not by any means, and yes she counted noon as morning. So at twelve twenty she finally showed up, still managing to be cursing herself on why she agreed to this in the first place, and wondering why she bothered to get up, and half praying he had already left since she was so late.

Methos drove his Jeep around the neighborhood of the docks, seeking the sensation of immortal presence, for a few minutes before satisfying himself that the area was headhunter free for the moment. Parking a block away, he walked toward the looming ediface that had once been a busy loading warehouse.

The broken windows were set high in its walls, the whole thing half the size of a football field, it had burned out long ago and was now cold grey timbers with a demolished second story. Glimpses of sky showed through the rotting roof.

Setting his cooler and gym bag down, he sat on a concrete slab and opened one of the beers, glancing at his watch. Late. Maybe she ducked out on him. It was a faint hope...

A hope that was dashed when she did get there, she was even rather well put together, at lest well enough it didn't like she had rushed nearly as much as she had. She would have been there sooner if she had figured out the bird had her car keys earlier.

Again she was dressed in all black, there weren't many colors she could wear though with pale skin and bright red hair, jeans a tank top, nothing fancy, though she hadn't bothered with a jacket today. Which partly explained why she carried a sword in a spine sheath, she sure as hell had enough hair to hide it, and given how rare spine sheaths were it easily gave the illusion she was unarmed.

Phoenix almost sighed upon seeing him but at lest she hadn't gotten up without reason, that was a bright side, right?

Methos felt the approach of another Immortal and refused to make the mistake of assuming it was Phoenix. He had walked into Keaton's sword not long ago, assuming the buzz he felt had been MacLeod's.

He had his coat off and laying next to him, his sword still hidden in the special sheath, and he pretended to read his book as the author of the buzz came through the door.

"Good afternoon," Methos said pleasantly, looking up. She's not your student. Don't scold her.

Oh, but he wanted to.

She almost glared at him, she was a half a heartbeat away from doing so, but at lest wasn't on edge once she saw he was he, if that made any sense at all, "It's before three, therefore ick." She was even nice enough to not sound cold hearted, trying to remind herself he was being nice, she could try to do the same. It was just really damned hard, she had her nice times, most the time she was nice, just not when it came to other immortals, then she was just very nontrusting, and cynical.

"Ick," Methos repeated, setting the book aside. He stood, his oversized sweater hiding the fluid grace of lean sinous muscles, making him still appear the skinny young man he had seemed last night. All he was missing was a pair of thick glasses to complete the look. "Kinda emo, aren't you?"
PostPosted: Mon Mar 19, 2007 1:59 pm
"Okay what the ******** does that word mean? Am I just missing a memo that went around explaining that or something?." It seemed even in the afternoon she had little problem with being blunt with her faults, it was the only way she knew to correct them. She didn't mention that she use to be worse on waking up during the afternoon, no point behind it ans she was doing well enough of looking like an idiot without giving away random facts.

Methos might not remember who Chubby Checkers was in the grand scheme of things, and in twenty years he might not remember what the word "emo" meant, but he was very good at living in the moment. How else could a man more than five thousand years old remain sane?

He smiled at her easy temper, then leaned down to slide his Ivanhoe broadsword out of conceilment. "Overly emotional," he said, swinging the long heavy blade in a glittering arc as he began to circle her. "Gloomy. Cynical. Distrustful. Suicidal. Black. Night. Vampires. Do I need to go on?"

"Oh yippie, let me jump in joy, and here I just thought I was a sarcastic b***h." She normally might have rolled her eyes but was since he had a sword out she was rather unwilling to distract herself but so much, or none worked too. Without thought, mainly because it was pretty much automatic she went to pull her sword, only practice made it so she didn't end up cutting off hair, she had for a while ended up with shoulder length hair much to her distaste. She fell into silence, which again normally was slightly odd for her, just because she was simi talkative didn't mean she was an idiot when it came to things. She handled her sword with ease that only came from years of using it, she hadn't wasted her time, once she found out everything and some of the rules she had taken to at lest trying to keep from being easily killed. She use to even have a sparing partner, once upon a time, right up till he tried to kill her, that of course ended rather quickly even, but she had known that was going to happen, hellfires he had told her before hand, so it worked for her. "Ya know, I have to respect you just for using a broadsword, nice little things they are." Of course she went with something much lighter, it still got he job done, it was just at a light enough weight she could handle it without problems.

Methos eyed the sword Phoenix pulled with approval. Light but strong, a good match for her female balance and strength. He wasn't as pleased with the spine sheath, however.

Lightly touching the tip of her sword with his, he let the blades slide against each other, testing her grip. "Good sword choice yourself," he said. "Though you'll need to perfect getting past the guard of someone with a heavier sword, like mine. A good solid blow could snap your blade. Speed and agility are your best gifts to work on."

He led her in a fast flurry of touches, metal clanging. "You might want to rethink the back sheath, though," he said. "You leave yourself wide open when your drawing your blade."

"Oh I know sweets, that's what back-ups are for." She spoke between clangs, using speed for the most part, she was light on her feet, it was more of a dance to her than anything. She was almost humming, almost, though didn't bother to explain her words, didn't have a reason to.

Cocky, Methos thought. Bad habit.

He was playing with her, getting the feel of her signature moves, hadn't even begun to call on his vast reserves of experience, and it didn't take long for him to note every hidden weapon on her slim body. Once he did, he stepped in close, sparks flying from their joined blades, and performed a quick twist of his wrist where their sword guards met.

OOC: This should send her sword flying.
