Yes, i have considered inking, and it always turns out with a ruined model that has to be repainted. Frankly, its not worth the effort in my opinion. I age my tanks by merely dipping a stiff bristly brush in silver and wiping it mostly off, then just specckling the whole thing.

Okay tell me of your inking technique and your colour matching then and i'll see if i can help. I get some absolutly beautiful effects on my slaaneshy chaos horde in fantasy

I dont ink, period. I tend to spend over an hour on each individual person, and up to a week on a tank. as to color matching, I paint them whatever looks good, then vaguely match them up with a color scheme.

No I meant what did you do when you tried to ink? And what ink did you match with which colour?

i only tried it a few times, a dark silver with my space marines.

SO you wee using dark silver on a black under coat? and were you using black ink?

Of course not! it wouldnt show up, except where it covered the blue.

....................... its different with normal SM's and eldar; you dont want them to look old and rusted, or pitted and battlescarred. At least i dont. With the exception of tanks, of course.

You use the ink heavily watered in many layers to gradually pick out the extra fine detail
