I think Amy Lee is not gothic.
She make look goth, but she doesn't live by the lifestyle.
I used to love Evanescence, but after the second CD, I'm disappointed.

Davey Havok is glam goth, Marilyn manson is more grudge goth, Aiden and Green Day are punk goth, and The Birthday Massacre is prep goth so I would have to say Amy Lee is a cross between very low glam goth and classic goth; but it also depends on her clothes at certain times as well........ rolleyes

Davey Havok is friends with a goth, but isn't one. Nor is his music. Not glam either.

Manson is not a goth, nor is his music. Nor is it grunge.

Green Day are not and never have been goth in anyway, and barely latch onto punk.

Birthday Massacre is darkwave, which essentially is goth + electronica.

Amy Lee is not goth in any way (musically or personally) either. She just happens to wear clothes similar to those of goths.

All of these weird a** lables are useless, they're all ******** rip offs.

Essencially, AFI, and Green Day (now) are pop punk. Green Day sold out with 'American Idiot', they used to be decent and now they're a symbol of chav. It... Disgusts me...

The Birthday Massacre I've never even heard of. : | So I cant really comment on them. :]

But back on track, Amy Lee is not a Goth. At all.

Because people enjoy telling people what they are, and are not. Makes 'em feel big.

These days, noone is allowed to have their own look. If you don't lable yourself someone else will lable you. And even if you do lable yourself someone's gonna turn around and lable you differently anyway. Like, I dont lable myself as anything, I'm just a me, but alot of people tell me that I'm emo.

So... What's the point?

Amy Lee is no where near Gothic,
Neither is her music. I like some of her songs, but Only because her lyrics are really good. She has even said she isnt gothic.

Erm, personally, I say she isn't, Evanescence are like the acceptable side of the whole female fronted operatic metal thing, ala Nightwish, Within Temptation and Lacuna Coil to name a few, the way she dresses is meant to be a perversion of the whole waif thing.

To be honest saying she's goth because of a stage personna is like assuming because Bruce Dickinson sings metal, he is uneducated. (Even though he's upper middle class, an Olympic class fencer and a BA Pilot.)
