Nima huffed, clearly annoyed that her bar had been insulted time and time again. It was her home and the place she grew up in, holding many fond memories for her. Just because it had seen better days didn't mean she was going to allow people to trample all over it and it's good name as well. All the yammering on about princesses and a kingdom in the sky did little to help her, she didn't care much for the little princess' title or the danger that hurting her might pose. Honestly the bartenders past with the law was already shaky and she had traded blows with them on multiple occasions thus far. A scuffle with the law or even a foreign military didn't frighten her in the slightest. However what did catch her attention was the hefty bag of coin that the merchant put on display. The gleam in her eye was quite noticeable as he spoke of buying her out as well as a tale of great riches. Nima practically threw herself between the surfer and the merchant, staring daggers at her former party. "That's enough now boys, last round and all that! Bar's closed and business is open." she chirped, a certain liveliness in her voice as she spoke. It seemed money really had a great hold on the pretty zombie woman. A crooked smile plastered her face as the red-haired man had her full attention at this point. The riches in her vicinity was too much to ignore and she was happy to play along with whatever scheme was being cooked if it meant a great pay off.

"We'll write up some paperwork later mister, you've got a deal. I'll move my business wherever you please so long as I'm getting paid, I've just got to run some errands before everything is all finalized."

Nima was completely pulled in, it seemed common sense and caution were completely off the table when money was on it. She was so wrapped up in the plot she nearly forgot that her newly found friends and customers were still in the picture. Turning her head an unnatural one hundred and eighty degrees she smiled at them the same crooked smile she gave the merchant, her big bubbly eyes pleading with them to forgive her. "You two go on with that little cutie Ai and I'll catch up, alright? Momma's got some business to tend to." her words were sweet yet forceful, her gentle joking seemingly carrying an underlying tone of urgency. She wanted to get a move on and make some money. Business here was okay but her pockets were still hurting and judging by the coin purse this fiery haired friend had on him he was doing things the right way. Without much more to say she took out a piece of paper and wrote down her name and number for the man. Hatefully shoving it and his direction before turning and strutting towards the door with that signature long stride.

"I'll be awhile but call me when you're ready for a good time, handsome.

"Heh, wise choice my friend. Sometimes you just gotta get to where the money is."

The ginger marksmen said placing his black cowboy hat back on his head. Taking his sisters hand he would smile down at the child before stepping past the chiseled Fishman whom approached him. Looking over he would simply say.

"The new bar's going to be in a place called Carmine town. Do look us up."

From there he would turn toward the other patron. The much more lively looking female in the room and simply tip his hat to her before exiting the bar accompanied by the long legged beauty and the angel eye'd child.

INDENT"§" [Mercenary Invesitgation - Start!] The final mission before returning to base was an investigation in Ridus village to see if rumors of mercenaries hunting and turning in marines for profit had any merit. Naturally, many other marines had already been here, and there was some kind of noise happening somewhere, but the young merman chose to ignore it. After all, he was here on a mission. An investigation. Oh his blood was pumping again. His missions had been so much fun so far. The main purpose of this 'investigation' is to just make sure there wasn't any real bad stuff happening to marines. So he kept his profile kinda low, as in he didn't have his badge in plain view. Zaphiel also wasn't wearing standard marine colors, so he should be easy enough to pass off as a civilian. He would walk around Zaphiel trying to ask around about any recent marine sightings in the area. He mostly got other patrolling marines, but one stuck out in his mind. A giant shark man. That had to be Cassius. He would have to go find his former roommate and catch up with him after he was done patrolling. He finally found someone who was willing to talk. A smug older woman. What was it with Zaphiel and women today? Still, he smiled and introduced himself. "I am Zaphiel Pallas. I am pleased to meet you. Have you noticed an increased number of Marines in the area lately?" He was sweet and earnest. The older woman gently pinched his cheek. "Yes dear. Though, most of them didn't have shackles so to speak. The more...unique ones. Much like yourself." Zaphiel tried to look taken aback at the comment of his alliegance. "I am not a marine though! I am only curious in maybe joining them, or see if there is profit in catching them." The old women scowled at him. "Dear, I can smell a marine from three islands away, and you reek. Still, you won't find what you are really looking for here. Mercenaries are a rare breed these days, and your non-animal based marines are rarer still. If you instead asked questions akin to who has been tracking marines, you might have better luck than tracking the marines movements. After all, reports are they vanish here, no?" The older woman chuckled a bit. Zaphiel scratched his head. She made sense. He was indeed asking the wrong questions, but repeating one wouldn't help either. So he instead had to find a better question. "Where would one go if they were going to turn in a marine for bounty?" The lady had a smile cross her lips. "Now that my dear is a question worth answering. And...they haven't been here a long time. A man named Weissman used to accept caught marines, but he is long gone now." Zaphiel nodded and bade the older woman farewell. She had the right of it. Further investigation into this Weissman turned up nothing. So he instead hopped onto his boat and left for the HQ to turn in his report. [Completed: Mercenary Investigation] - [510/500]

A moment of silence for all plans. Pour one out for the poor unfortunate souls that had been caught in the little lambs sights. Benjamin simply stood and stared, as Baram's words sunk in. Actions followed leaving him flabbergasted by her choice. A trashcan barrage. Genius in its simplicity. Perhaps Baram was better at this than he thought she would be. The bunny nodded and smiled, leaping into the air just a moment later. High ground. Benjamin needed high ground to work his own brand of magic. Perched upon a rooftop the young marine pulled out his cheap pistol and smiled. It all came down to the step by step process now. A deep breath to calm his nerves. The pistol rose as the breath was pushed out. A moment of stillness, held breath. The soft squeeze followed by a single loud pop. The fight had begun.

User Image Rich brown eyes peered up to see what Brody was doing since he hadn't responded straight away. Those orbs thus caught sight of the man with his fingers currently between parted lips. Had those? Her heart skipped a beat, those were the fingers that had been where many men had only wished to go and yet he dared probe. Brody was so bold, it seemed as if he knew exactly what he wanted and was entirely unafraid of pursuing those things. A knowing thought raced through her mind that he was savoring her taste. A glimmer of imagination sparked in the dark recesses of her drunken brain as she imagined what it was like for him to get her taste. In addition she wondered if like an animal shark with blood in the water, broseidon now had her scent on the brain.

Carnal relations could wait though, the man seemed like someone she wanted to keep around. But to be sure she had to fight him, and see what kind of man he really was. As the old man used to say, 'you can only truly tell what's in a man's heart by fighting him. His thoughts, goals, and true feelings are all contained within the fist.' However it seemed that he would rather they teamed up against the clown prince and his kid sister. That could easily have been quite enjoyable at any other time than this, but her mind was made up now and there was only one thing that feisty brunette wanted to do. "iya ne yo," she fired back at Brody with a slight slur to her pronunciation and a tone of annoyance. She blinked for a moment before realizing that she'd just yelled at him in her first language. "What I mean is, let Nima handle her own s**t. I want you, not him! Besides I won't accept you as a real man worthy of my time till you fight me. Back out and you can just forget my taste cause you'll never get it again!" There was definitely a fire in Mirin's eyes and some force behind her words. Much as she wanted to knock the s**t out of Thad till he was begging for his mommy she had bigger fish to fuc... fry!

At the same time it seemed as if the blundering pirate had realized that perhaps this place wasn't going to be so friendly towards him after all so he worked to change strategies rather quickly. His entire charade with calling his kid sister a princess was bullshit, I mean he'd literally just talked down to her a moment ago. Perhaps he would have entirely worn out his welcome but then he found Nima's biggest weakness apparently. Money, lots and lots of money. At least there'd be a bar but Mirin had no idea what the zombie woman was thinking. The one eyed p***k was clearly bad news but then she'd have to let Nima just do her own thing for now. Besides it's not like she had a better offer at the moment. Maybe one day she would but not right now. For now what she had was Brody and apparently a now abandoned bar. "So you in or out hot stuff? Win or lose I doubt you won't be going home without a prize tonight." This could be really fun, especially since they had a space to cut loose in.

"If what you say is true, the Winged Chun and Wool Shu could be dangerous."

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxTheme: Count The Medals

                                                            So much for a plan.

The words of the sheep rang through his soul. A simple yet commanding statement of an officer enforcing the law upon the wretched ne'er-do-wells of these morally swampish parts. Truly, the rabbit had been the only one with some real common sense, the only one that tried to plan things through instead of rushing in head on. Before this, Sun had no idea what type of soldier Baram-Yu was but once she revealed herself to be a fighter like himself, well, he didn't want to let her have all of the fun. "And I'll kick them in the throat!" He announced. Benjamin had taken the high-ground and whipped out a pistol. Baram-Yu was getting her trash can and its lid. All the while, Sun would make himself bait in the form of a full course chicken dinner with all the fixin's. The bird sprinted out into the open, getting a running headstart as hastily confronted the guards. They'd perk up and look towards him just long enough for Benjamin to get in the first shot.

The bullet rang true and sunk into one of the guards before coming out the other end. A clean through and through. The young hawk soaked his limbs in the familiar secretions unique to his person before a crackle of electricity surging across his feathers sparked this substance and set it ablaze! The frying chicken leaped into the air, swinging its body a full three-hundred and sixty degrees before delivering a powerful aerial roundhouse towards the second guard's face.
"Caaawataaaaaaaah!" Sun cried. The man dropped unconscious to the ground just as Sun landed to his feet. The right side of the guard's face scorched in third degree burns.

This, no doubt, drew the attention of the men inside. And like a cliche Kung-Fu flick they came pouring out of the door, jumping from the windows, and exiting random corners of the building in hoards into one giant swarm. Their numbers nearing one hundred as they held an array of different weapons. Some of them guns, but most knives, swords, pikes, and other close-ranged weapons. They had only seen Sun so far and he didn't mind being the bait. In fact, this would prove to be a great time to test his talents in his art. So he stood tall and took on the traditional formless stance of Winged Chun.

                                                            His body was ready!

Ridus village was always the perfect place for Cassius to come when he needed to finish his missions fast, multitasking them was a plus, one trip was a boost for him. He sailed forward, examining the seas, many ships came to this place, the island housing a majority of Mercs, and they have a tendency to bring all their captures here, instead of to the appropriate place, Marine Headquarters. Cass took note of each ship in sight, many of which were on their way out, which was a sign that people didn't have pirates on them at the moment. He continued forward, docking at the island and getting many glares from the people in residence here. They didn't take kindly to the marines, and they never would. Every character here being a wanted criminal, he could try to bring in the whole town if he wanted, though it wouldn't be a smart idea, this place was a great place for information, if he wanted the good stuff, he always had to turn away from the legal marines. The illegal black market crowd had far better good stuff to tell. Of course, they always had a price, which he wasn't in the mood for, not yet.

As he began to walk the town he continued to take notes on all the people and the buildings of the area, tall housing, small housing, dark and bright alleys, the ugly mugs he walked passed, and, oh damn, that girl was actually pretty cute, the things he would do if he weren't on duty right now, mmf. He shook the thought from his head before continuing onward. He stopped at a particular dark alley and strode down it, hoping to catch some thieves in the act, they'd have a hard time trying to sleight of hand on Cassius, he wasn't in the mood for that nonsense today. The one thing still drove into his head while around here, the disappearance of marines was so bothersome. He entered a deeper thought, if marines were disappearing in the area, the only logical explanation would be to ask Nima, was she even still here, s**t he should've asked her last time, no, no, she would've lied to him, with her pretty eyes and- hey! cut that out, this is no time to be drifting Cass! You've got a job to do. He shook away the thought, and continued through the alley.

So far Cassius had nothing, no hints or leads to send him in the right direction, it was moments like this, that Cass considered finding a partner, maybe a crew. No, pirates had crews, and he was certain they were tainted by each other's company, it was like earlier, when he entered that bar and actually said perverted things in Nima's direction, that was so dumb. He had known her since she was small, not a child but, compared to Cass, she was practically one. Dammit, he was doing it again, getting lost in the thoughts of Nima, er, his past, he was always stuck on the past. He couldn't believe he could let himself be so tainted by company that day, still. He looked around, where had he gotten to now? Examining the area, it looked to be a far side of the island, well then, it would take a while to get back to his ship, having finished his first assignment.

On his way back however, the sound of muffled screams could be heard, a woman, Cassius was quick to drop his notes, making his way towards the sounds. He looked around, waiting once more for the sound to ring through the alleys, there, he quickly dashed right, plowing through a barricade and continued on, stopping at another intersection of alleys, the shout continued, it was there, two houses to the left. He burst in through the front door, and quickly took in the area. A woman strung up from the ceiling, bare, covered in scars and cuts, and a man with a whip who was staring daggers at Cass. Damn, it had to be a human woman. It was Cassius' job to save this woman, but his ego... ******** it.

Cassius rushed forward, knocking the man upwards with a punch to the chin, twisting around and kicking him backwards in the gut, and forcing him into the wall. He found something sharp, walked over, and dug it deep into the man's neck, and pulling it out, leaving a large hole in his airways. One, that would be Cass' first kill since becoming a marine, maybe he should start keeping count. He walked over to the woman and sighed, reaching up to untie her, she fell forward, knocking down Cass. She held herself close to him, and cried against his chest, it was absolutely disgusting, how could he just, let her do this. Damn. "It's okay, here, I'll have to escort you out of town." he said. He moved her from on top of him, she sat on her knees. Cass looked around quickly, trying to find clothes, or something to cover the girl. opening a door to a closet, he found the remains of many other females, all in a pile with some marine outfits, damn, it looks like he found at least one existance of missing marines. There had to at least be one clean pair here, most were ripped and bloody.

He found a set, tossing it to the girl, she would have to deal with it for now, until they left this island, she was going to be in danger, at least, that's how Cassius saw it. It was painful to watch, the woman struggled to get dressed even. Cassius took her in his arms, and began to rush towards his ship, holding the woman in this marriage style position while running passed many mercs. He quickly made it to the ship, set down the woman, and began to sail back towards marine HQ, it was important that he get there fast.

Baram-Yu

Minkman • Assassin • Marine

The trash can had been the opening assault, and Benjamin’s sharpshooting, in tandem with Mr. Who Rang’s flashy techniques, had been enough to dispatch the remaining guards with ease. Baram-Yu looked on, her chest puffing with satisfaction. “Let’s go take care of the ones still inside…”

Or those guys could come out to meet them. That was cool too. Baram-Yu scarcely minded as six, maybe seven burly men came rushing out of the door, weapons at the ready. However, as a few other doors along the road opened and more men came pouring out of those like fish to chummed water, Baram-Yu could not help but look on with vague annoyance. This was more than what she had intended to but alas, one rarely got to pick the hand that life dealt them. With a sigh of acceptance, she buried a hand into her wool, wondering if she had anything that could help tip the odds in her favor. Feeling something hard and cool, she withdrew it, pulling out a glittering blade by its handle.

She blinked.

It was the table knife from Mr. Who Rang’s lunch arrangement. Had she really brought it all the way here from the Navy HQ? Then again, she still had a finished plate and a fork in her boat, so at least she had found the complete set now. She lifted the blade and sucked in a breath as she stared at the mass of waiting opponents before her.

“Make sure you play it safe, Benjamin,” she called from where she stood beside Mr. Who Rang. “This isn’t going to be like our little dandelion kerfuffles back home.”

Something which had at first seemed so simple had very rapidly become a very complicated affair. A few simple guards changed, like a hornet's nest kicked. A docile thing full of creatures simply trying to survive became a monster of rage and pain. Three became ten which in turn became fifty which in turn became foes innumerable. Benjamin could only stare, gunning dropping to point at the ground. Thoughts of the true enemy he fought passed through the young rabbit's mind. Benjamin's enemy wasn't a person, but a thing. An idea really. The thought that you could take what you wanted and no one would suffer for it. A criminal mindset and standing before him, which cocky smiles and confident stances were a crowd of people who followed that doctrine.

Looking down at his pouch Benjamin flipped open a container. Ammunition. A thing he was limited by, a problem Benjamin now knew he would need to fix. "I might not have enough bullets..." the soft words were a precursor to the actions of reloading his cheap pistol and beginning to once again take down an enemy. Bullets would be a hail upon the far most targets as Baram and Sun dove into the ranks of enemies, after all friendly fire could be dangerous. Bullet after bullet cascaded into the midst of the melee, leaving Benjamin with a smile on his face as criminal after criminal fell to a well place round.

Benjamin was unsure of exactly how many he actually brought down, after all very few normal people could take a bullet to any part of their body and keep fighting. It was likely Baram or Sun who brought them low in the end, Benjamin shot more to main and cripple to to truly stop. Support in its truest sense, he had no real intentions of getting close. He continued to fire rounds off as his little bunny eyes picked out important targets. The man trying to sneak up behind Baram-Yu. The lady with strange legs preparing to jump on Sun from the second floor of the building. He was keying in not to weak points, but instead where a strength lay. Find a location where the enemy had a potential for victory and stop it. He was learning in this melee, spending as much time watching others and how they reacted as he was spending shooting. A learning experience as much as it was a mission to do good. The curvature of Benjamin's mouth, a smile, showed that perhaps the little bunny enjoyed his job that was strictly.... proper.

Taking a trip back to Ridus the ginger haired man. Needed to find their shipwright. He knew she'd denied his request earlier but perhaps with a bit of buttering up maybe she'd help him out this time around. Pushing his way through a fight that seemed to be going down on the streets Ridus would be littered with angry mercs. With so much else going on he'd hoped that his presence would be masked. The little bell on the door of the bar would ring as he entered once more.

"Hope I'm not interrupting anything."

The gunslinger would say with a smirk. The question across everyone's mind would first be why he was back, then the second would be how he got back so quickly. But none of that was important, fooling around with his long red hair, the markmen would stand against the counter in silence for a bit. It'd be real freaky if they were about to go at it in the middle of an abandoned bar. It would have been much more interesting to walk in on that.

"It should go without say, I wouldn't be here if I didn't need something."

He didn't want to go through the formalities of the whole thing. Staring at the female in the room he didn't get her name, and it didn't matter. If she were interested in doing business the only thing that would matter would be the sound of beli. But maybe she wasn't so easy to barter with then Nima. But what else would she want, that was something that the ginger man could never wrap his mind around. For what else could a man want other then money? Everything else in the world could be bought. Scanning around the room he would look back over toward the brolic looking fishman. His pistols in close range, and the safety was never on. Although the pirate wasn't really a confrontational guy, pulling strings was far more rewarding the getting your hands dirty doing everything on your own.

"I've got a ship, but I could use a few cannons on it. Shouldn't be too hard, although I do have some special requests. I've got enough beli to buy ol' Nima out, why not get rich too? You told me you were doing a different project. Cool. But I bet there's a way you'll turn your attention toward me."

Standing there hands on his hips Thaddeus stated his request. Last time they'd met Thaddeus hadn't made much of a good impression with either of them. Which was sad Thaddeus was all about making new friends.

"Are you a gambler? You see, I said I bet there'd be a way to sway your attention. I like to play cards, how about you?"

He said pulling a deck from his jacket pocket, Thaddeus knew he was the best poker player in South blue. He'd clear out tables faster then any other man could, so much so that local bars became ghost towns as soon as he sat down to play. Perhaps his unnamed shipwright pal would like to play a round. Thaddeus would have offered her boyfriend... But he didn't look any good. Standing there with that same s**t-eating grin, you knew this guy was absolutely full of s**t, but you just couldn't help but wonder what was his scheme this time.

Sitting around in silence for a moment Thaddues felt like he was a bit out of place. Perhaps they were having a moment. Hiding the awkwardness behind his playing cards. Suddenly he would look up.

"I'm guessing none of you are players then? Very well."

Placing the cards back in his coat. The man would move over toward the exit, just before looking over his shoulder.

"Sorry, I've got to run. But um, My name is Thaddeus Boone. Do look me up."

He would say before waving goodbye

EXIT.

"If what you say is true, the Winged Chun and Wool Shu could be dangerous."

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxTheme: Count The Medals

                                                            What was a kerfluffle?

Putting such a thought aside the bird stared down the murderous, enraged eyes of some rather unhappy mercenaries. He couldn't cant them all on one claw but they were easily outnumbered by at least twenty-five to one. He felt his back touch that of the sheep, side to side, back to back as they were surrounded. It was good that Baram-Yu had managed to find herself a weapon after she'd thrown the trashcan, but would a simple butter knife be enough for her? Well, it wouldn't have been any fun had this mission been easy. His deep passion for battle swelled within his puffed out chest as flames licked away at his limbs; yet he remained unscathed. It'd seemed that the group had found the mercenary group's base of operations.

His eyes peered up to Benjamin who'd managed to secure a spot among the rooftops. With him as their sniper he could pick off any excessive numbers so he and Baram-Yu weren't overwhelmed.
"Let's take'em down, team!" Sun chirped before leaping into action. The enemy charged as well, not standing idly by for the small herd to come. Sun kicked one of them in the chest with a flaming foot and used him as leverage to spring board himself into an ax-kick onto another man's skull. Men swarmed him, armed to the teeth with both sharp and blunt instruments of war. However, the bird was much more acrobatic than he let on. "Kyyyyaaaah! Caw-waaaataaah! Yyyyaaaah!" He'd cry whenever he successfully struck down a foe with a lunging blow to the gut or a burning kick to the throat.

He smashed heads together, bouncing from one villain to the next. Meanwhile, bodies dropped to the ground in howling pain as Benjamin lit them up with bullets. Wounded but not dead, they'd be sure to call in for reinforcements to arrest those that they could not. A pair of men pulled out guns, one rifle and one pistol; having caught wind of the rabbit's location. However, before they could get their shots off Sun charged at them, his body littered inflames as he flying knee kicked one in the temple, causing him to stumble into his comrade so Sun could stomp on them both with a finishing blow. As he did this Sun gave a high-pitched warcry, his body shook as it struck fear into some of the others around him who'd then flee the scene.

With the numbers being trimmed at a rapid pace it was only a matter of time before the trio dispatched of them all. As the adrenaline rushed through his veins, the frying chicken felt as though he could do this for hours!

Baram-Yu

Minkman • Assassin • Marine

Baram-Yu moved swiftly. She was a short, stubby little thing, and that was clearly giving her opponents a few complications in dealing with her. Some had to stoop low and hunch over, while some gunners that were clearly used to aiming for the heads of human-sized figures were forced to awkwardly tilt their large, cumbersome rifles towards the cobblestone road. Baram-Yu was delighted to use that to her advantage, especially once she had managed to replace her knife. She had lost her table knife in the back of some poor sod’s knee, but she had just as quickly come across a wicked curved dagger that she had pried from the hands of a mercenary whose face she had already forgotten.

It was a very pretty dagger with a shimmering, gold-tinted blade that reminded Baram-Yu of the way the ocean glittered beneath a setting sun. It was completely and utterly gorgeous.

Baram-Yu quickly discovered that it grew ever more gorgeous once it had been anointed with crimson. She put it to good use, cutting tendons with the same ease that a gardener might take to rending upstanding weeds. Bodies fell around her, but she scarcely minded, even when her pretty white wool was dyed with speckles of red. There was a reason her father had been known as the Crimson Ram on the battlefield, and his daughter soon proved to be no different. Of course, she wasn’t simply cutting aimlessly. Every now and then she’d spy a fellow with a pistol, or a lady with a small rifle, and she was quick to kick them straight into the air every opportunity, flinging them upwards in a calculated arc so that they fell, landing just a few feet away from where Benjamin stood. After all, she knew her partner was likely running short on bullets.

She wished to remedy that.

xxxx justice is a swift hand plucking a rotten carrot! xxxxxxxxxx

The violent actions of his companions had Benjamin shaking his head softly. They were, in truth, much better combatants than he was, or likely would ever be. It was an amazing spectacle to witness. Baram-Yu with her methodical and careful movement from target to target, wounding and disarming them with deft motions. Sun with his acrobatic and flashy attacks, flowing around the battlefield like a violent wind in a hot desert. Such power left Benjamin not in awe necessarily but greatly impressed. That he had the opportunity to work with two people he could learn so much from was nothing other than a blessing from the god's themselves.

Through his musings the rabbit continued to place projectile after projectile into the crowd of violent ruffians. They fell with cries as wounds were dispensed like candy on some pagan holiday. The bunny boy's worries of ammunition had swiftly been put to rest but his fluffy friend as ammo and firearm alike were flipped high in the air to land next to Benjamin. The treatment of the weapons might have had Benjamin sad and perhaps disappointed, but he couldn't truly find complaint in that moment. Dropping his own cheap pistol he grasped a rifle and loaded it, pressed the butt to his should and eyeing down the sights. The soft pops turned into loud thundering cracks and the rifle spoke, informing all in the area to get down or get hurt. A vicious smile curled along Benjamin's face as he started pounding shot after shot into the villains.

As much as Benjamin felt confident in the current situation, the saying always went; "Pride Cometh before the fall." The old adage proved true even in a situation as blessed as their's had been. The cracking of the rifle hid the enemy's steps. The grand melee below diverted the target's attention. The man pulled a small short blade, a soft hissing hidden under the thunder of war. Metal cutting air the only warning. It wasn't enough. Searing agony as steel parted flesh and Benjamin experienced something new. Real pain. His bunny eyes would turn to see the interloped, blood pouring down his back. A vicious grin his graced the face of the attacker and Benjamin's mind whirled looking for a way out of his situation. the enemy was too close to get the gun aimed in time. Small eyes, squinted in pain dropped to the grand melee below. A chance better than his current predicament. Placing a hand on the edge of the building Benjamin did was bunnies did best; he jumped. It wasn't a controlled or deft movement. It was a leap to the ground below where he landed, falling and rolling, spraying his life's blood behind him on his short trip to the ground. A sharp cry rang out as he touched down. His eyes sought out his friends still so far away, with a wall of enemies between them... Benjamin tried to stand and his body refused. Blood loss and the impact... He fell once more, dropping to small knees as slowly the villains turned and noticed the helpless rabbit kneeling on death's door.
