❦ Lucy couldn't help but grin when Shou looked her way. Or at least, who she thought was Shou. She tried to flatten her smile, and after a moment, she felt the corners of her mouth turn up again. She chuckled to herself, slightly embarrassed on how odd she was acting. She covered her mouth with her hand, trying to hide her grin. When she settled, she looked up to her father, who was still chatting. It seemed insane how easy he was making conversation with what looked like complete strangers. He eyed her after a moment, holding up a single finger, meaning for her to continue waiting. She scowled at the gesture, and her father eyed her harder, making her soften, losing the scowl. He turned away then, and she turned back to where she remembered Shou standing.
❦ She found him just where he was before, and she took a step in his direction, her gut leading her now rather than her head. Her eyes darted back to her father. Still talking. And so, she continued walking, towards the staircase. This seemed rather odd of a princess to do, especially without an escort. But hey, what the heck? Lucy wasn't exactly a normal princess. She landed at the bottom of the stairs, seeing Shou was looking around as he had been doing before. She paused then, thinking twice. Was she actually going to do this? "Eh, screw it," she said to herself quietly, taking the first step up the stairs. She let out a breath, pushing herself up the stairs.
❦ When she was a few steps before the top, she looked up at Shou, weighing the situation. Hopefully he wouldn't freak out.

❦ When she heard the man speak, Lucy knew it was Shou. She couldn't help but grin at the sound of his nervousness, but she played it cool and slicked her expression over so she looked composed. She finished ascending the stairs, finally stepping onto the top level, now even with Shou. When he spoke again, she finally replied. "Oh, no need to leave." She held her hand up gently, her other hand against her side. She eyed him.
❦ "You looked lonely," she said, "Up here all by yourself." She looked down the stairs then, seeing the guests continuing to converse. She could also tell that many eyes had followed her up the stairs, but she was okay with that. "I figured... I would join you? Is that alright?" she spoke softly now, her eyes returning to him.

❦ "Please, don't mind them," she said, speaking of the crowd below, "They mean no harm with their stares." She laughed quietly to herself then. "I've known their looks my whole life," she then said, more to herself than to him. She took another step towards him, only a few feet from him now. Lucy looked back at Shou now, very sure of who she was talking to, but of course, decided to go over the basics first.
❦ "May I ask your name?" she said, a soft expression gracing her face. Her eyes gave her away however, her playfulness bouncing around inside them. She knew he might figure her out sooner or later, and if he did, she would go with it, but if not, she would keep up her fun games.

❦ Lucy noticed Shou's on-edge demeanor, and she frowned slightly. "Pleasure to meet you, Shou," she said, although it was funny, because they had already gone through this once. She watched his gaze, following it to the floor below them. Why did he seem so anxious? "Is something the matter?" she asked, turning back to him.
❦ She wasn't sure why he was like this. If he was one of them, why was he so nervous about being around her? Surely a suitor would be more than pleased to spend time with her, away from all the others. It just seemed like the normal thing at an event like this.

❦ Lucy couldn't help but giggle lightly at his reaction. He was so on edge, and she was so unsure why. She tucked a sliver of hair behind her ear as she replied, "Please, don't worry. You're cutting yourself short sir, of course you're good company. Why else would I have come up to say hello?" She cocked her head to the side a little, one side of her mouth turned up in a smirk. Maybe she should have worded that response differently, but she smoothed over her comments with another question. "If I may ask, who are you searching for? I might be able to help."
❦ She stood next to him then, hoping silently that he would relax. She shook her head slowly at the thought, and she looked out onto the crowd, who she sensed had eyes on her too. She watched the dancers, spinning slowly in rhythm with the music. She spotted the cameras, a few on reporters, a few aimed up at her. She finally landed on her father, who seemed to be looking around for her. She brushed him off to look back at Shou. "I'm fairly familiar with most of my guests, to an extent. Do you have a name?" She looked back at him, her hands resting on the railing, her curls falling behind her shoulders.

❦ At the sound of her name, Lucy grinned, thinking it delightful that he was looking for her. She wondered why she found so much joy in the idea of someone looking for her, she had people flocking for her all the time, so why was she so happy now? It was odd, but she waved the idea off and thought of what to say.
❦ "Ah, I know Lucy. Such a lovely girl," she said, silently laughing for playing herself up, "She is in attendance tonight, although I haven't seen her recently." She had to think quickly. She couldn't reveal herself so soon, so maybe she could direct him somewhere after the ball? That was her best shot, since she couldn't just change into a totally different outfit to keep up her little game. "I know she frequents the library here in the castle, so she's likely to be there after this evening's ball. All of this..." she said, waving her hand gently towards all the guests, the party as a whole, "... isn't really her scene." She shrugged a little then, realizing she really wasn't one to enjoy parties like the one they were at.

❦ Lucy nodded when Shou replied. He still seemed on edge, and it was looking like she wouldn't be able to figure out why at the moment. As she thought of what to say next, a small hand tapped her on the shoulder and she turned to see the same maid from before standing beside her. "Your highness, your father requests your presence... again." The maid's eyes darted down to the floor below, her bangs falling in front of her gaze before Lucy followed her stare. She saw her father staring back up at her, his arms crossed, brows furrowed. She grimaced in response to his intense glare, and she fidgeted for a moment before turning back to Shou.
❦ "Ah, I apologize, I must be going, she curtsied lightly, bowing her head as she took a step back towards the staircase, "Pleasure speaking with you." She gave him a warm smile, letting her eyes gaze at him a moment more before turning away and following the maid down the grand stairs.
She scurried past different guests before ending up directly in front of her father. He didn't scold her, only said, "Definitely NOT behavior I'd expect from my daughter." Lucy frowned, and her father continued. "I'd like for you to say a few words to your guests before leaving." Lucy tilted her head to the side in confusion. Was she supposed to leave soon? She would like to continue talking to Shou, but then again, he didn't seem to want to continue speaking to her. "I'm... leaving?"
"Yes, immediately. You are no longer needed here, so I want you to go back to your room."
"WHAT?" Lucy's eyes grew in surprise. She felt like she was a little kid again, being sent to her room for stealing cookies. "Dad, that's not fair!" Her hands formed fists as her eyes narrowed. "DON'T raise your voice at me young lady," her father said before Lucy decided she'd heard enough. Without another word, she turned and hurried away from her father, slipping in between people of the crowd so he would have trouble following. She heard him shout something after her, but she continued on. She wasn't going to stay here another minute if she didn't have to. It was bad enough having to worry about accommodating to other people, but when she was told she 'wasn't needed' anymore, she felt like a nobody.

A maid appeared shortly, and told PPrincess Lucille that the king requested her, to which she excused herself. Shou bowed as she left. "I understand, have a good evening." she left then and the maid followed after her. The maid seemed familiar, but he must have just seen her somewhere in the halls, but now it was just Shou looking over the ballroom. He watched as the Princess descended the stairs and approached the king, where something of an argument began to errupt. It was loud enough for Shou to hear their voices, just not what they were saying exactly. The Princess then scurried away, which Shou took as his chance to make his way back down and find Keril. He made hast down the stairs and through the crowds, looking for a familiar young man.
"Then I shall gladly show you where your logic fails with my past."

❦ Lucille dashed down the corridors leading to her room. At least, she tried to dash. Dashing in a formal dress was a little difficult, since, ya know, she was in a dress. After a few more turns, she huffed out a finally breath as she locked her eyes on her bedroom door. She slowed then, steadying her breathing. The clicking of her heels finally slowed as she wrapped a hand around her door knob and pulled the large oak door open. Once inside her dark and empty room, she clicked a few lights on and began changing out of her fancy attire.
❦ After a few minutes struggling to unzip her dress, she was free and wiped away her make up. She combed through her hair and threw on the white top, black skirt and boots she had been wearing earlier that day, then she scanned the room. Her dress was thrown on the bed, her heels beside her dresser. She nodded in approval before closing the door behind her and heading to the library. If what she was hoping for would come true, she would run into Shou pretty soon.
