A small smile of polite amusement darted across the nantlil's face at the too obvious mimic of her own sound. Scoff and laugh all he wanted. It would become apparent later who the real fool here was. Which made her smile grow larger and fill more with her own amusement.

"Depends how long you want me to stay around," came her response, tinged with the amusement plastered all over her face. Now she was simply making fun of him. Hey, if he was so determined to make a fool of himself, who was she to disagree with that? "Since I am the one controlling it and all." She gave a little laugh before glancing at the sun to judge where it sat in the sky. Sunset was still a ways off. Shouldn't be for another couple of hours, at least. Could be more.

Prisca settled back down on the ground, tugging her forelegs in under her chest and making a little ball with a head. May as well get comfortable, she'd be here a while.

Closing her eyes, she added, "Couple of hours. Not like you will be able to watch it go down, anyway."

The voice from the nantil caused Xero to growl once again. He could hear the thick coat of sarcasm dripping from each word she spoke. Of course this would be a cruel joke to her! Every bit of this was probably causing just a grand amount of joy over there.

For a brief moment Xero felt a ping of regret for not sucking her dry of her blood. It would have been rather hard for her to be so sarcastic without a drop of blood in her body... Eh, it wouldn't be worth anything to kill her anyways. He would be alone again, and that seemed a far worse fate than having to be around her jesting. As annoying as it was.

*Tch* Came Xero's response as he slid his paws forward than rest his chin between them.

It wasn't long before a surprisingly pleasant sleep took him.

Not even bothering to crack open a lid, Prisca ignored once more the sound the tahtll made. Outward, she remained still as a rock. Inward, she was already gloating. It was possible for more than one B'alam to move by the light she cast, but it was made primarily for her. She doubted it would even hurt his eyes. Unless she shone it directly at him at close range.

That, however, was still a ways off. With nothing further to say on either of their parts, they settled down in their own ways. One asleep and one merely listening and thinking. It was too early for sleep. She'd be up all night if she slept now. And that wasn't what she wanted. It was an annoyance being away after dark and having to rely on the smaller form of light she provided for herself.

Hours passed in sielnce, broken only momentarily by the presence or sound of another animal. Prisca could tell by the steady breathing that the bigger B'alam was probably asleep. Not surprising. Judging by how much the sun seemed to hurt him, he obviously wasn't meant to be awake during the day.

As the sun ducked behind the mountains in the distance, Prisca opened her eyes and yawned. Her bones cracked as she rose and stretched, having barely moved since she had first laid down so many hours ago. It didn't feel as long as she had expected. Maybe she had dosed off at some point after all. Moving a little ways away, she sat down with her back turned to the tahtll and flicked her tail at his head to wake him up. The further the sun sank, the brighter a pool of light around her glowed.

Xero had slept soundly throughout the entire day. Not even the crackling of the trees above swaying about in bursts of wind could make him even twitch an eyelid. By the time the sun and crept more than half way behind the hills opposite where it had started its journey, Xero had already unfolded his wings and tucked them to his sides. All while he was still asleep.

Than, *FLAP* Xero scrunched his nose to the sudden whip of fur against his thick skull. His eyes cracked open. Everything didn't burn, and, as the nan had claimed, the sun was gone along with its burning light.

Slowly his head lifted and his eyes widened. His headache was completely gone, as was the burning in his eyes. Everything looked and felt well with the world around. Even the light circling the nan was nothing comparable to the torture of that great ball in the sky- Wait.

Xero blinked as he studied the light. She had a dimmer version of the burning orb in the sky? Without thinking on how foolish he would appear, he looked down to his own feet to see if he too had that same circle of light about him... nothing.

His brow furrowed as he returned his gaze to the nan.

"Was that necessary?" He huffed in a very late response to the wake-up call. He purposefully did not comment on how dark it was nor her own glow.

Prisca continued to stare away from the tahtll, watching the stars as they twinkled into existence. It was the only good thing about the nightfall, in her opinion. The stars. So many of them, just sparkling in the darkness above as her light sparkled in the darkness below. Then there was the moon. So large and bright, like the orb on her horn. But not bright enough to help her see without her smaller one.

After a while, she turned around, meeting his gaze with an annoyed one of her own, brows furrowed in an almost glare. He was very much the bark, but little bite.

"Was anything you have said and done necessary?" she retorted, turning her body all the way around to sit facing him. No longer even the least bit afraid of him, Prisca's voice took on an edge to it. She titled her head. "Believe me now about the sun? This is my sun."

Xero frowned to the response he had received from the nantil. Of course he had felt silly for the accusations. Most of them were out of pride and simply unwilling to submit to anything she said. It seemed a fate worse than death to.

"That surely is not your call to make." He retorted with an edge of his own.

Once again he studied the dim circle of light around the other b'alam's body. The scales seemed to have been plucked from the stars and brought to her fur. With his sight they appeared slightly brighter than they would for any other b'alam, but still not enough for him to avert his gaze.

"No." He answered out of a pure suborn nature. Of course he did and felt all the more silly for his previous actions. Minus trying to eat her. That one he was more and more regretting that he had not accomplished. Kind of.

"Keep your damn sun... The sky looks far better like this. It does not burn to look at it, it does not pound my eyes through my skull."

He paused in his ranting.

"What do you intend to do now, sun bringer?" Her inquired coolly, yet sincerely.

"Oh?" the Light nantlil asked in obvious amusement, the edge in her voice gone to be replaced by a light tone, almost a giggle. She titled her head back to its usual rotation, a smile now on her lips. Almost a mocking smile. Because no matter what he said, she had won. He was wrong. And he knew it. She knew he did. It was as clear as the stars were above. The sun was gone and she sat there, bathed in her own little light. The sun had gone down as it does every day. Not by her magic. Had it been her magic, she wouldn't have had them wait so long. The light on her own, that was her magic. Her only magic.

"Is that so? Nor is it yours."

Getting up, Prisca moved closer, making a circle around him with the tip of her tail held a few inches above the ground. She came to stop to one side and turned just enough to comfortably look at him without turning her head around much.

"I could always leave. You got what you wanted. My blood. And your precious darkness. I got what I wanted. To make you look a fool. I may as well go my separate way."

Of course Xero knew that this nantlil was right, he knew it and was more frustrated by it than one ought to be. Still, he said nothing nor willing to submit to that fact. She was the sun bringer, that he believed he would never stop calling her. Even if it did remind him of an incredible folly.

"You could leave, nothing is keeping you." Xero lifted his head and carried on as if he didn't care to be alone. "The world should be better without your presence in any case. You no longer look appetizing."

Xero's wings unfolded slightly from his sides and shook a bit while he tested the winds. The thought of the wind and its current quality would not distract him from yet another falsehood that he spoke. She did look good. Well, her blood did. He could remember its sweet taste. Such a found memory of tastes.

He swallowed what saliva had gathered in his maw and averted his eyes from the Sun Bringer.

"You are more trouble to have around than any drop of blood in your veins is worth."

"No, nothing is," Prisca agreed, tail laying flat on the ground in a semi circle. There was still a little smile on her face. SHe was still pleased over her victory. She assumed, if she ever saw him again, she would remain pleased over this victory. He took something precious from her and she made him look a fool. They were even. For now.

"And my days shall be more peaceful without your growling and sulking," she retorted, the edge returning to her voice. He was insufferable. He really was. It would be her luck that the first of her species she found was a stubborn, ignorant tahtll. It was a wise thing in this world to accept your defeat. For you couldn't be right all the time. And insisting that you were or ignoring the fact you weren't just wasn't sensible. She hoped one day he would come to realize this or he wouldn't get very far in life.

"Good luck finding someone else to be a willing donor," she added, smirking at him before turning back around to face the opposite direction of where he was. "You'd best spend this nightfall trying to find a dark place to hide from the light." Without anything else left to say to him, Prisca broke into a run to get as far away as possible so she, too, could find a nice place to rest until morning.

Xero could only sit still and brood while she reveled in her victory. Yes, she had won and continued to win because he would not leap forward and attack. He had spent the better part of the last minute talking himself out of such an action. Why he could not say. He did not want to be alone. This nan was the first one he had ever meet, the first being he had ever meet. Even if she had a big mouth and a sour attitude.

He watched as she bounded off with her last words still ringing around in his mind. Of course he would need more blood. This time he would remember to be careful. That cursed golden light that appeared on the horizon. Perhaps it would do the same thing again as a warning.

With a low growl he turned to the tree. This time he would have no problem navigating up the side of the trunk and making his way to a thick branch protruding from the side. One just high enough to where he could launch from. No one had ever told him how, but somehow he just felt that this was the way to go. Or maybe he wanted to show the tree that he could conquer it, as it would be the only thing tonight that he could best at anything.

His wings spread wide as he lept from the branch. There, the updraft. Xero wobbled a bit in the air before instinct started more to take over. A wide grin formed on his maw as he turned back to where he saw the light Nan speeding off over the horizon.

With what strength he could muster he sped forward and past the light Nan as if to point out that he could do something she so obviously could not, and that he could easily follow her should he decide to. No matter how far she ran, he could fly faster.
