Fain started walking around the perimeter of the tower. Halfway around he saw a small mouse scamper up and rock and disappeared. Thinking there might be an entrance there he followed the mouse's path and noticed the hole it had escaped through. He stopped in thought.
There must be a passage here for the mouse to travel through...It couldn't gnaw a hole in the rock.
The first drop of rain started falling. It was a little sprinkle, but soon it would shift to a heavy downpour. Soren will probably roost somewhere else tonight. He thought disappointed that his companion hadn't returned, but also relieved or else the mouse might have been eaten.
He scanned the wall looking for a brick or piece of stone out of place. Engrossed in searching the wall, he didn't sense the pair of eyes watching him curiously.

After a few minutes of searching, Fain still hadn't discovered the supposed passage. He wiped some of the rain off his brow and frowned at how he was slowly getting soaked. Frustrated he kicked the wall and winced at the sudden pain he felt. He cursed under his breath bending over to check his foot when he noticed that there was actually a hole in the wall now. He sighed, "Of course it would open now..." He stood up and hobbled inside glad that at least he was out of the rain now. He paused in the passage. It was too dark to see and the only sound was the pitter-patter of rain hitting the rocks. Unsure of whether or not to continue he stood by the entrance. He placed his hand on the wall to his left and started walking.

☾"Know a little ...

Zana watched the man follow a little mouse as he tried to open the wall behind it. She couldn't help but giggle at how the wall opened after he kicked it. That was such a cliche move. Zana quickly skipped down to another wall where she easily opened. Flipping her slightly wet hair back she went into the dark tunnels in search of the man. It didn't take her too long to find him she could smell his life essence just pouring out like sweet strawberries that just turned ripe. He was struggling in the dark but who wouldn't. Zana slowed her breathing and heartbeat as she got closer to the man who was against the cold stone wall just following it. Where did he expect to go anyways?

Yes sometimes it's fun to be cliche

I swear I hear footsteps...and they definitely are not mine. At first, Fain had thought the sounds were his walking echoing down the corridor, but after a small stumble and the steady steps of the sound he knew for sure, that wasn't the case. There has to be an exit to a room somewhere. He thought hopeful continuing down.
After a few more minutes of walking, he came across an upward staircase. The idea of climbing upward without an escape from whatever was following was probably not the best idea, but what else could he do. So he continued upward and soon he came towards another hallway that eventually led to a partially ajar door. The crack was let in a little bit of light illuminating a bare room with a window.
Slipping through the crack Fain hurried to the window and quickly turned around on the defensive for whatever was following him.

☾"Know a little ...

Zana noticed his panic but continued to follow him with a grin playing on her lips. He was coming up to a corner that headed up some stairs. Zana stayed by the shadows where he couldn't see her but she could very much see him. The man was shaken putting up a defensive position in front of the only open window that was about two stories up. Listening in the dark Zana heard a little mouse scampering about as she quickly grabbed it and sent it up the stair way towards the man. This was quiet amusing as she giggled to herself knowing the man knew she was there and could hear her.

The wind was howling outside and covered most noises, but Fain was still able to hear a small giggle come from outside the door. His mind flashed with creatures or who was giggling. He grimaced and felt his heart rate increase as a very quiet sniffling echoed outside the room. He held his breath in anticipation as a small white furry head peeked into the room.
"A mouse..." Scowling he glared at the shadows beyond the door and pulled out a small wedge of food for the mouse. He crouched down holding his palm flat for the mouse to talk the food. Scampering over the furry creature took the food and sat there eating quietly. He kept the door in the corner of his eye as he pet the mouse.
"Was it you who was following me or..."
Am I being played with?

Zana raised an eyebrow as the man tamed the mouse easily interesting she directly said it into the mans mind. Quietly climbing up the stairs that was left Zana stepped into the room and stood between the makeshift doorway. The strong wind suddenly blew into the room causing the mouse to scamper off in fright as she stepped closer to the man with a blank expression but stared into his eyes curiously. Zana inhaled the air around the man tasting sweet summer strawberries. She carefully but gracefully started to circle the man keeping direct eye contact with him as she slowly started to tap into his life essences.

At the sudden intrusion into his mind, Fain jumped from his crouch looking toward the room's door. There stood a golden-haired woman that slowly approached him. Though Fain wanted to be wary, he felt a drawn and almost a need to trust her. The mouse running off should have warned him of the danger, but the lady didn't seem threatening. Only a little strange for living here alone and approaching Fain. He slowly watched her circle around him turning so his back was never to her. He smiled at her slightly confused at the situation. His mind was hazy and his voice slow and thick.
"What's interesting?"
Deep down there were warning bells going off, but he felt almost forced to ignore and to dismiss them.
"Were you the person I heard following me?"

Zana stopped as her back was in front of the open window with a storm brewing outside. She lifted her hand slowly towards the mans cheek not touching him but close enough to feel the warmth radiating from his body. She nodded to answer his question and slowly moved her hand back down away from his cheek back to her side. Zana stood motionless in front of the man as she watched the mans expressions and breathing. The storm was above them with the rain pouring down and lightning that would make shadows dance around in the room.

Fain held his breath and the lady reached up to him. He felt frozen on the spot not realizing that she didn't answer his first question. The rumbling storm outside seemed distant to him as the woman continued eye contact. His face began to relax a little and eyes dimmed feeling weaker and weaker. "Why..." was all he could ask as a nearby lightning flashed filling the room with light. Thunder soon shook the tower, and Fain fell to his knees almost gasping for air. He lifted his eyes looking at the woman white spots dancing across his vision before falling to the ground exhausted and drained. His breath was short and shallow and his heart racing.

Zana knelt beside the man who was suddenly on the floor and gently caressed his cheek as she stopped her ability. She forgot to stop taking his essence as she was intrigued by the strawberry tasting man. Apologetically she started to return his essence back into him slowly as not to shock him. "Im sorry I didn't mean too..." her voice was buttery as she mumbled while looking at the man with sad eyes. She placed his head on her lap waiting for him to recover. She got caught up in her own game... even with hundreds of years of being a succubus you can never really control the urge.

Barely conscious, Fain heard a mumbled apology and felt his head rest upon something soft. He felt half-dead and exhausted not completely sure why, but it was slowly fading away as a warm feeling spread throughout his body. Relaxing he fell asleep too tired to care for the potential the threat the woman posed.

In his dreams, it was summer time at the temple. The air overflowed with laughter and hymns in the distance. Fain had stayed the night after helping the people with a rat infestation. The old leader was thanking him for his and asking that he return sometime in the future.

His face broke into a peaceful smile dreaming about the past and the thriving country before everything had been destroyed in the war. After his short nap, he woke up in the silent room. The storm had passed over and a soft rain now drizzled outside. The room was dark barely seeable in and his eyes strained to see the silhouette above him. His thoughts were still cloudy and didn't remember exactly what had happened just yet.
"Who are you?" He whispered above the rain outside.

Zana massages the back of his head while he fell into a deep yet seemingly peaceful dream. She frowned slightly as she was envious of this random man on her lap who was able to have beautiful dreams. Slightly tapping into his mind as he slept she watched the memories that passed through. It was the temple before the war.... it was just as beautiful as she had thought. Zana could tell by the old structures of the ruined temple but now she was able to really see it in its glory. She smiled warmly at how the memories made him feel as it translated into her. But it all stopped as the man started to awake. Who are you? The simple question echoed in her head... who was she...? "No one of importance" she whispered gently. As she laid his head gently down on the floor she moved back close to the wall into the shadows. Who may you be?

Fain slowly sat up, holding his head as a headache began to pound. Wincing slightly, he turned to the silhouette. He smiled slyly at the woman, "Nice to meet you, No One Important. Even though whatever you did caused me to collapse?" He kept his voice soft trying to relay he wasn't criticizing or upset to her.
"Thank you for stopping it, by the way." He pulled some food from his pack at his side munching on hard bread and jerky. The food was helping replenish his loss of energy. He looked up at her, "Would you like some? I have some dried fruit as well if you prefer that." He tossed some on the floor near the wall for the mouse that had escaped earlier. "I'm Fain." He glanced up at her curious, "Why do you live out here?"

Zana sat back against the cold wall as she watched the man slowly get up. He probbaly had his head pounding after all that. She felt around her cape remembering she still had an apple in her pocket. Zana let the red apple roll towards the man he needed fresh fruit more then dried things like that. He also seemed to have an attachment for creatures noticing him throw some food in the direction of where the mouse was earlier. Fain.... "It is a place that is supposedly forgotten".

A soft thud echoed as a red apple rolled over to him. "I guess that means you're not interested in eating then." Thankful he reached over and took a bite. "Even though this is a flavorful apple...a tad sour, a little bitter, but overall sweet." He finished the apple and stood up using the wall for support. He was still a little shaky. After eating, the headache had gone away somewhat, and he felt more steady. "Once something has been forgotten then it's dead." He said a little darkly before commenting a little more positively. "It seems to me that someone is living here. Creatures remember that once this was a haven for the injured or sick that's why the forests are abundant. The ruins are imprinted on the earth reminding all of what is here. So can we truly say it is forgotten?" He gestured to the whole building a small smile. He moved closer trying to get a better look at her face the darkness.
