[Discussion] parent's reaction when they saw you liked Yaoi?

hahaha! Too bad for me! With the gravitation manga shuichi looks like a guy and so if my grandparents ever came in and saw any Guy on Guy action they would TOTALLY flip thinking I still like to read it after our little mishalf! *sigh* Thats why im thinking of bringing a backpacke to the bookstore say I only have $20-30 to spend when I actually have more so I can buy my Yaoi Manga and hide it while I only show them the regular ones! (You get what I mean by regular right?) Although...after a while they'll probobly start asking how I got like 2 extra manga and ask to look at them and ask why I only bring the bag to barnes & noble! Although I dought they'll have my Yaoi manga all the time so ill just take it once in a while!

Oh yeah! And im glad my thread was such a huge hit! blaugh

I hide in the bathroom and read my Yaoi manga! Im not sure if they remember wich animes were my Yaoi so just encase I read it in there! Perhaps when im on like the 2nd or 3rd (probobly 3rd) of gravitation ill start hiding in my room and reading it! Then at like the 5th or 4th ill go into the dining room and read it like my grandma used to read her books! She sits in the living room now...she still goes in there though! Although when im home alone ill be able to read it any where! 3nodding But I usually just hide in the bathroom still because then if my grandparents came home from work or an eran I dont have to hurry and hide it if im getting really into into it!

okay, my mom found out when she was going on the computer and I was in the shower. when I got out of the shower she yelled at me to come to the computer. I did. heres the conversation:
mom: what is this crimson spell stuff?
me:....uh
mom: whats yoai?
me: uh...
mom: *openes up my crimson spell folder and happens to open up a part where hal and demon val are having sex.*.....
me: yoai is gay guys mom.
mom: its gay porn.
me: okay then I like gay porn.
mom: not in this house.
me: erm....
mom: well you won't be buying it, just lock the folder so that I don't lose my eyes verginity again.
me: um, okay.
mom: * calls her couison * terresa, I need a drink, you making?
me: xd

my mom is cool with it, as long as I don't mention it. my dad doesn't know, actually he could care less in what I like.

I'm one of five children my step dad is never here and my mom works from 7 to 9 and then goes straight to her room and doesn't come out, and I never come out of mine, I don't think my mom even knows I exist so she doesn't know.

I don't think my mom particularly cares, but one time I had a pic of two boys kissing on my desktop and she was like "I don't wanna see that!" Then she was like. "Would you still like the pic as much if it was a guy and a girl?" I don't think she likes the fixation... I dunno.

Well, my dad doesn't know. My mom really is okay with it. I had mentioned something about Gravitation and wanting the manga for Christmas...like, really badly. I couldn't help but tell her what it was about, just to see her freak out. I mean...I have a gay cousin who she was always really close to so she didn't mind the gay stuff. It was just the fact that I was reading about guy/guy relationships that kinda made her roll her eyes, shake her head, and continue to do the dishes. She kinda forgot about it, but I don't know how she did, since there was two nicely packed Gravi mangas in my Christmas stack.
When we went to Best Buy, I wanted to get a Gravitation DVD, and when we were in the check out line, I showed it to her and said, "You know that's two guys, right?" she was like, "Are they...?" I said, "Yes" and couldn't help but smile at her reaction. It's just funny, cause she's completely okay with buying it, but she handed it back to me, saying, "I can't believe you like to look at that..."
Later in the car, I was hugging to my chest, and I was like, "Yaaaay...!!" My favorite girl cousin was with us, too, and she was laughing. My mom continued to roll her eyes.
When we walked out from WalMart, I think I said something else about it, and Mom was like, "If you're going to buy something like that, then why don't you buy two girls?!" and I was like... "...That's called Yuri, just to let you know." and Mom was like, "Is there something you're trying to tell Kirsty and me?" She was joking. I immediately popped in, "NO!!" Even though that was a lie. Even after many many months, she has no suspicions of my sexuality xd I love my mom...

to my knowledge, they don't know. when i found out i liked yaoi and such and looked for it on the 'net, i erased the cookies and history everytime i finished with the computer. it's like it was never there ninja

but now i have my own computer and no worries. well, other than my boyfriend finding and reading my fanfics whee

My parents don't know, and I know I am never ever going to tell my dad. NEVER. he is one of those uber Republicans. I mean, we have a conversation about gay people, and you know what he says? "All democrats and gay should go to hell." I stood up and walked out right then. I'm not sure how my mom would take it, but right now I'm not telling either of them. ninja

My parents knew that i read Gravitation but they didn't know what was in it.
So when they went to buy the whole collection for me for Christmas (Whee!)
They saw what was inside and freaked out.
They sat me down and spoke to me calmy.
"Now hunny, this hobby is...quite unusual but it's alright!
It's just, me and your father would like it if you moved on to a more...
Normal hobby. And please, don't get any farther then this and stop buying these things."
Thank god they haven't seen my picture folder.

My mom was confused at first, but I got her into it. My dad doesn't know. My grandparents don't know either.

They're not going to, either. 3nodding I don't think my mom would have a problem with it... as long as she didn't know how graphic some of the stuff I read is... but that's understandable, considering my age (14). My mom sometimes says stuff like "Aww, that gay couple is so cute!" so I think she would be ok with my love of BL. Not sure how my dad would take it. Probably badly.
My brother knows, because we share a computer, and he once went into my picture files... a mistake he has never repeated. He's borderline homophobic, more uncomfortable than anything I guess. He keeps quiet about it unless he's calling me creepy because of it, so it's ok.

I love my mom dearly but my mom found one of my Fake mangas laying around last summer and it just happened to be the last one (which if you haven't read it, the last manga has some more... explicit material. ) Well I didn't get in trouble persay but my mom and this girl at work were talking about how anime/manga was bad and all that stuff. My mom just doesn't get why I like anime. I still don't know how my mom quite feels about homosexual relatuionships, all I know is she is not oppenly against them and I'm thinking she is on a more neutral ground if anything. Thankful I was able to make it seem like I didn't know what was going to be in there when I bought it.

If my dad sow some Yaoi/Yuri he would flip and lid and pretty much destroy it. He is so homophobic it makes me sick. I get so angry everytime he goes off on a tangent about 'fags'. He hates gays with a passion, he will change the channel if anything with an oppenly gay person is on it such as Elen Degeneras or Rosie O'Donell. He has even said things like 'gays should be lined up and used as target practice for the milatary'. It is so irrataing, if I had somewhere else to live, and didn't fear him (he is a big, tall, scary guy who is terrifying when he gets angry.) I would tell him what's what. His conservative views are a bunch of garbage.

Thankfully neither of my parents (to my knowledge) know my open love for yaoi(and yuri) or that fact that I like guys and girls (I'm a girl FYI).
