For-Chan Cookie [Bunny Luv] You know, many people speculate that Shakespeare was gay. There's quite a bit of subtle references to sex, both gay and straight, in his plays. There is a biography out called "The Players", I've forgotten the author sweatdrop But I read it and it was wonderful. It deals with his affair with both a woman and a man and, though not very explicit, it is very intense. I really reccommend seeking it out 3nodding I've also heard some accounts that Shakespeare was actually a woman... er, himself. XD; This would not alter the nature of his affairs, though. Rogue X Hmm, how about... Puck and Oberon? lol lol LULZ Mercutio is my favorite fictional character overall, so I'd have to say that Mercutio/almost anyone could be fun. XD I also completely support Hammy/Horatio!

...As I was saying (off-topic in the other forum XD; ), I like Hamlet/Yorick and Osric/Laertes as well.
It made me a little sad, though... I'd always thought of Hamlet as being around seventeen (and sexy), but to have known and remembered Yorick he would have to be around thirty (since Yorick's been dead 23 years). XP Not to say that thirty-year-olds can't be sexy...
To Lenre Li: "When the wind is southerly, I know a hawk from a handsaw." XD

I quite fancy the usual Hamlet/Horatio and Rosencratz/Guildenstern pairings... heh...
Anyone got the Hamlet manga? I love it... like Skizzors said, DYSTOPIAN FUTURE DENMRK!! xd And Hamlet looks very bishi... <.< >.>
RoseSpirit: One of the best quote in there! As well as:
Frailty, thy name is woman!!
... And it's funny how most people think Hamlet said "to be, or not to be" soliloqouy when he ws holding Yorick's skull... although, in actuality, he was reciting, "alas, Yorick. I knew him well..."
xd Heh.

Also:
Get thee to a nunnery!
Hamlet is misogynistic, man! XP
...Which even adds to the potential for slashing. rofl
How did the "To be, or not to be" soliloquy get so popular in the first place? >> I like "Oh, what a rogue and peasant slave am I!" better.

Umm. It probably got popular because... it got popular? xd My favourite one is where he shall "capture the King!" and of course, "I am but mad North-North-West, when the wind is southerly. I know a hawk from a handsaw." heart

Oooh! What about when Hamlet finds out Horatio saw his father's ghost!? eek I'm sure he says 'love' in one line... >.< And in the manga version, when they are both very jailbait-ish, Hamlet gets into Horatio's face. Yummm. heart

for people looking for gay/lesbian themes in Shakespeare, here are two plays you should read:
Twelfth Night: rampant homosexuality in this gender switching romp of separated at sea twin brother and sister.
Richard II: Richard was one of a few English Kings confirmed to be gay, even though the term didn't exist, nor did the lifestyle, and while this play doesn't have any illicit content, Bolingbroke (who becomes Henry IV) executes Bushy and Green for coming (pun intended) between the king and the queen and keeping the Richard II from his bed.
Also remember that in the 16th and 17th century, women weren't allowed on stage, so all of these great romantic scenes were written to be played out by men! Shakespeare is full of yummy slashy goodies!
