Not much progress being made every time I open up the file. I think I'm more in the writing mood than drawing/shading/coloring mood at the moment.

Icy Reign For the auction piece, I was thinking of something like that one piece I showed you with the thought bubble, only both Icy and TES would be sharing the same thought bubble - Ryzan - while looking off in different directions. After actually taking the time to try to envision this while rubbing my wet, naked body with soap in the shower recently, I suddenly remembered that you only won Tes and not Ryzan, thus Ryzan cannot be in the picture.
As for the coloring job, no progress has been made since I'm still recovering from being sick {and I definitely couldn't work on it while I was sick at my sickest. I should know... I tried. It wasn't pretty. emotion_facepalm } and am also attempting to get the ball rolling on an unnecessarily elaborate plan that will eventually lead to me finally starting The Wonderland Project emotion_facepalm

But thanks to that, I just had a much needed laugh. Didn't think that would be an issue since we'd both be "thinking" about Ryzan, but I see what you're saying. As you know, there's no rush as far anything you're doing for me, so take your time and make sure you recover completely. I don't want TES germination all over my art, thank you very much. talk2hand If you indeed need to put that on hold in order to get the Project rolling, then by all means do so. I'm pretty anxious to start on the WP thing myself and see how it comes together.

Just putting this out there: while I haven't really been working on art lately, in the off chance that I actually was in the mood for it, I wouldn't really want to with my current monitor.... or at least not something that I actually want to look good in the end. Spouse's expensive monitor went out on them and they're sending it back to the manufacturer for a new one. In the meantime, going without their computer isn't an option to them, so they took my monitor and I'm currently using our TV as my monitor {which interestingly enough is the same size as my monitor emotion_eyebrow }
The colors on it look completely off even after I tried adjusting the settings and the overall image is more blurry because it's not really meant to be used as a computer monitor. It's good enough for regular use, but not particularly ideal for art.
In a related story, spouse also dropped my monitor while they were in the process of plugging it into their computer stare It appears to still work fine at the moment at least.

Monitor back and in the mood for some shading, I got back to work on the coloring job. Not a whole lot of progress got done, but it's something at least.

Lunch break update before I start on the hair, though I suppose I should also take the time to do laundry today at some point.... maybe...
After adding the highlights, I think I'm starting to understand the meaning behind Icy using the term "biteable" when describing how I color her character's skin. *wants to drag his tongue all over that* emotion_dowant I don't think my monitor would appreciate that, though.
Might try to tweak the highlights a bit after doing the hair. There's something kind of off looking about them to me, but I want to see if the hair ties it all in or if they still stick out too much.

*forgot that the WIP is on the front page* cat_sweatdrop I was thinking that I can't see what you're talking about, but... yeah, it's right there. emotion_facepalm
Icy looks like chocolate! cat_xd
I think the highlight on the thigh needs to be blended in more, or something. It does stick out a lot, especially that really bold streak in it. Also, I'm having trouble deciding where your light source is from the highlights. Is it behind the viewer?

To be perfectly honest, I didn't give any real thought on the light source and just put highlights in places that I thought looked good at the time. In all likelihood, given the different colors of highlights, I'll just BS and say there's more than one.
Highlights you generally want to keep sharp for extra shiny things, but I don't at all disagree about the one on the leg sticking out a bit too much and probably will blend parts of it later now that I know I'm not the only one who thinks it looks off.

Oops... saved a WIP last night but forgot to update the front page until now sweatdrop
Not sure if I'm done with the hair or not. I think I might want to try sharpening some lines for the shorter pieces around the face and see if I can add noticeable highlights before actually considering it done. I'll have to think about that when I pick it back up today after I shower. But the majority of the coloring and shading is done now and the highlights on the body definitely seem to look a lot better to me now that the hair has been done. I was thinking they might be a bit too whitish {hint hint, they're actually a very light blue emotion_awesome } but have found they don't seem to stick out in a bad way so much anymore with the hair done... or perhaps rather close to done.

Yes, the skin highlights do look much better now that the hair's done. I think defining the hair around the face sounds like a good idea. It's got a different texture than the rest of the hair, but it blends into the longer pieces.

Update! scream God I want my head wings back now. Those keep drawing my attention. Why yes, Icy does look like chocolate. emotion_dowant When TES first started doing art for her, I was reminded of that famous line every little kid has asked a certain hoity toity owl. Think I'll have a piece made centering around that question. emotion_awesome
Your penchant for makeup and nail details. emotion_drool I love it but at the same time it worries me. Does Ryzan take you over often? emotion_awesome

.... I actually in all honestly have a strange fascination with makeup emotion_facepalm ... especially eyeshadow and dramatic makeup. As much of a pretty boy I am, I'd never use it on myself, but watching the process and seeing how it transforms one's appearance is just really interesting to me for some reason. It's another kind of art form, really.
I haven't worked on it at all today because the spouse came home early and has been keeping me busy, but yesterday I pretty much finished the hair. All that's left to do is soften the wings a bit to try to make them look more feathery {not exactly sure how/if I can pull it off, but have every intention of at least trying} and to add in the card symbols at the top and bottom.

So go to school and learn to be a makeup artist, then visit cons around the US, helping middled-aged people become the little bishoujo and bishounen that lives within. emotion_kirakira
I remembered you voicing/typing your concerns about the original artist's signature being moved/covered, so is it not possible to copy pasta it somewhere on there? I mean once it's finished it'll go in my journal under the original piece, with credit being given to the artist as well as you for inking/coloring.

I have little faith the copy pasta will work well, but I could try anyway. It would make me feel better to keep her sig in there, even if it's my coloring work and not hers. Would be nice to separate the credits, but noting directly on the piece that she did the drawing and I did the coloring would be an eyesore. emotion_facepalm It takes attention away from the art itself instead of being a part of it like a good signature is.
