[-][1x1][L-N+] Walls and Silence (with Rent_junkie)

"Why are they here? They don't look like they did anything wrong."  

[Rent_junkie]

"And neither did you and yet here you are. I don't know what they're here for. I'm just in charge of watching over them and running this camp."

Olan glanced back at the newcomers, most now glaring at him. Did they want something from him?  

[Rent_junkie]

"Remember there's nothing you or I can do about it."  

[BrokenScreamBox]

Olan lowered his head, obviously guilty that he could not help the newcomers. In his thoughts, he bumped into something, or someone, and he looked up to see the very angry face of one of the officials.

Marco pulled him away from the other guard.

"I'm taking this prisoner for a special duty. You are not to harm him. Understand?"

He gave the other guard a cold stare. The other just nodded and went on his way.

They continued their own walk almost as soon as the guard had walked off. Olan tried to enjoy the warmth of the sun and this little bit of freedom he had, but he still felt the unfairness of his situation.

Then he saw fences and past them he saw grass. Very green grass, probably nurtured by the wide open space. Would he ever step foot out there again?

"I have some work I need to get done. We have to go to my office now." He signed to Olan and lead him to his office.

Olan only nodded, though he did wish they could stay outside for a little longer. Who knows when he could go outside again?

Once they arrived at the office, he took a seat at one of the chairs there, waiting for Marco to request some help. After all, he had to be useful for something, not only as a companion.

Marco took a seat behind his desk and started riffling through some papers. Then he looked up at Olan.

"I know it's selfish to say but I am a little glad that you were brought here. I like being around you Olan and you're the only one I can trust."

Needless to say, Olan was quite surprised. Marco only trusted him? "What about your coworkers?" he signed. "Don't you trust any one of them?"

"Are you kidding? of course not. They'd turn me in the second they'd find a reason just to advance their carrers and to show they're not a traitor."

"They're all that bad? I'm amazed they didn't turn you in for keeping me." Perhaps keeping a prisoner was not an actual crime. If only he knew what rules there were in this camp.

"They did. But I told them I needed someone who was deaf to be my assistant so that they couldn't over hear anything. Which the higher ups thought was very reasonable. Though I think it's made them watch me closer to see if I would do anything else against the rules."

"It's probably a good thing I am deaf. What are the rules, anyway?"
