"Yes, Edward, there are others like you in the world," Kaz whispered quietly. "But theyʻre different. Theyʻre cold-blooded killing machines-" Kaz began, but the older man cut him off with the sharpest words that he had ever heard. "ʻEh now, donʻt be so harsh on him. Heʻs just asking," the boy growled, clenching his teeth to keep himself from swearing at the man. Honestly, this guy needed to learn some etiquette.
"Wouldnʻt it be easier to make friends anyway? Then we could avoid fighting altogether." The idea was enticing, but it was far-fetched. Edward could probably communicate with the others better than Kaz could, but in the end it was the same. Somebody would die.

“How do you know, have you met them? Why can’t they be like me, why do they have to be cold blooded killing machines like most humans?” Edward protested his eyes holding a hurt look. “They see me the same way wouldn’t they, as a cold blooded killer?” he questioned softly. “I don’t understand why you humans feel the need to fight with each other over stupid things such as land which you don’t even really own. It was here since before all of us.” Edward growled.
The old man turned with a glare. “You will do as told number 13 this is no longer up for discussion, should you feel the need to try anything we will be forced to take certain measures to make sure you will comply with orders at all times.” The old man growled. “No one is going to be kind to you during the war because you think it’s a foolish thing in fact many will just laugh at you.” He continued as the agents with weapons drew closer to Edward.

"Father made you as human as he could. I know that for a fact. The others are just trying to win the war," Kaz muttered quickly before the older man cut in and reprimanded Edward for asking questions. "I never understood the reason for war, either... itʻs all a silly game of chess," the boy said, thinking to the chess battles that he would have with his cousins. He would always win, always, in a mere few moves. If he was lucky, heʻd corner them in eight moves. If he wasnʻt, it was over in sixteen. When he tried to play his father, the scientist had refused. After that, Kaz had broken ever chess piece, chiseled their bodies into nothing more than sawdust, and burned the board in the fireplace. He hated chess, and he hated war.
When the agents moved in closer, Kaz pushed Edward ahead in front of him and turned to face the agents, placing his body between them and the angel. And he was going to take on all of them with his knife. "Back off... or Iʻll kill him myself," Kaz threatened. He would never really kill Edward, the angel was everything to him now. His only friend, the only person that he could really talk to now. But the agents and the older man seemed interested in Edwardʻs power and wanted to use him, so taking him out of the equation entirely should set them on edge.

“Why, why do you make it sound like others who have created creatures like me cannot have someone like father? You make him sound like he is so different from everyone else. Am I to figure out from that, that humans like him are rare in your kind. I don’t know what chess is but if it is like war I do not think I will like this game.” Edward said confused and angered at the small facts he was coming to realize. Edward so wrapped in his thoughts was not prepared for what came next. The shoving he could deal with it was when Kaz threatened to kill him that he could not understand. The man in front of him had said he would kill him, but father had assured him nothing like that would happen.
Anger consumed the dark feathered being and his power erupted in a sphere pushing everyone away from him. It was only seconds later that the dark feathered being took to the air flying away from the group. The old man cursed loudly. “You ignorant child!” he yelled to Kaz. “Hurry after him!” he yelled to his agents who scrambled to get to their feet.

"I know Father is different," Kaz replied solemnly. "Father was always decently kind compared to other scientist in the world. I know that for a fact. Kind people are rare, and are usually easily taken advantage of." With that statement came a hard glare at the back of the older man. Being taken advantage of... by the government especially. All you had to do was ask nicely and you could get Kazʻs father to pretty much build you an atomic bomb that could wipe out the entire North American continent, Mexico included. "You may actually like Chess... it involves analytical thinking..." Kaz muttered under his breath.
An unknown force smashed into his back as Kaz and the rest of the agents were thrown backwards, the boyʻs hunting knife skittering about thirty feet away from him. His shoulder crashed into a wall, his body adding more pressure and shattering the bones. He could feel the pain rushing through his body, spreading like a wild fire as he watched Edward take to the skies. Before the man even began cursing at him, Kaz was already laughing. Even through the pain, even though his eyes were slightly unfocused due to the pain, the boy was laughing hysterically. "Youʻll never catch him... why donʻt you just let him go?" Kaz muttered under his breath. His eyes were blurring over with tears; tears that most would say was due to the pain. But in actuality, Kaz was crying because he hurt the only person in the world that he could possibly connect with. The only friend that he ever had.

Pain radiated through the dark feathered being as he flew something was not right about what had been done but his mind was too clouded with anger to process it. His ruby eyes had darkened considerably and in a room of the building his sisters cried out. The further away he got the more the pain grew especially in his shoulder. It grew and grew until he could take it no more and fell from the sky somewhere onto a beach of the island.
The old man growled angrily as Kaz laughed, he could however see the man was in pain. “Fetch three and four and bring them here.” He ordered. It was only a few minutes later that two female feathered beings were lead over to Kaz. Both the two females had silvery blue hair and ruby eyes very similar to Edward’s, what was different about them besides their hair from Edward was that they had stark white feathered wings much like an angels. Seeing Kaz sitting on the ground and in pain the two females broke away from the agents and kneeled beside Kazon either side.
“You…you are father’s son.” They both said softly as they placed their hands on Kaz’s injured shoulder. Slowly a soft blue glow enveloped their hands and they healed Kaz’s shoulder. “This was brother’s handy work, why was he so angry?” the questioned the old man.
“It matters not, what matters now is that you must find him.” The old man growled.
“Hes in pain, what happened?” they repeated not moving.

"Donʻt growl at me, Old Man," Kaz smirked, sweat beading down his forehead from the growing pain. "It makes you seem like the animal you truly are. At least try to be civilized." But the pain was only intensifying as the seconds ticked away. Soon, it grew hard for Kaz to even keep his eyes open. But, when he closed his eyes and relaxed as best he could, the pain seemed to lull a little bit. But he still strained to hear, strained to make out what those around him were saying. He heard something about bringing 3 and 4. Must be Edwardʻs sisters, and they must have healing powers. Supposedly.
"Yes, Iʻm Fatherʻs son," Kaz whispered quietly, opening his eyes to look into a two sets of ruby eyes. 3 and 4... Edwardʻs sisters. They were beautiful creatures, almost exactly like twins. "Sorry... it seems that Iʻve angered your brother beyond a reasonable threshold of annoyance. He flew off somewhere that -" before Kaz could finish his sentence, his eyes widened slightly. He was seeing things. Flashes of images. He saw sand flashing underneath him. Sand and water... waves. Ocean waves splashing somewhere in front of him if he kept on looking out. He could smell the salt air that he only knew came from one other place. The beach. What the hell was he seeing?
"Oi, Old Man!" Kaz said, sighing as the pain finally subsided from his shoulder. Then he stood up, ignoring whatever 3 and 4 may have been trying to do to heal his shoulder. "Thank you, very much.... but Iʻm fine now..." Kaz smiled softly as he looked at them, then turned to glare the older man down again. "Mind coming with me? Letʻs go for a walk..." As tough as Kaz was trying to act, he still had his other hand clutching his shoulder. The wall had done more than just break his bones. An outlaying screw that was jutting out of the wall had pierced the flesh of his skin. Combine that with the fact that some bone fragments had pierced his skin as well (although they were put back in place by 3 and 4) and you now had Kaz wearing a white t-shirt that was dripping with blood from the left shoulder. Luckily, it wasnʻt his dominant hand. Quickly, as if he didnʻt really care whether the old man followed him or not, Kaz began walking in the direction of the beach. If he was correct, he would find something... Something was leading him there.

“Edward was given to you.” The both said smiling softly. “Why would you have angered Ed, it is difficult when you are not one of them.” The two females said softly and a bit confused. They watched as Kaz paused in his telling of where their brother had flown off. They knew what was going on, father had explained it to them. Father’s son and Edward had a special connection one that would help them survive the war but it was one that could also hurt them. “Wait we are not done!” the two girls protested as Kaz stood up breaking their healing. “you are certainly not fine.” They protested more.
The old man followed along with his agents. The two girls also followed trying to continue their healing as they walked; they only got as far as stopping the bleeding and making a scab. “Where are we going?” The old man questioned. “There are agents out this way already if 13 has passed by them they will let me…” he was cut off by a radio hanging from his belt. ‘Sir we found him, hes on the beach’ came the transmission.
Cold, and brutal that’s what he felt as the waves lapped at his legs. Pain was still evident in his body but it was less now. His shoulder had stopped hurting so much like his sisters had healed it but they weren’t there. The only thing Edward saw was the landscape and agents approaching him. He snarled dangerously trying to get up. His fall had been harsh but luckily he had not been too far from the ground, the pain he had felt had caused him to fly lower.

"I said I would kill him if the agents didnʻt stop using their weapons on him," Kaz explained quietly to the girlʻs questions as they walked. The pain in his shoulder began to subside even more until the it was almost non-existent. Blood stained his shirt, running down across his chest now as he let his hand drop to his side. "And I am fine, really. Please donʻt worry about me. Iʻve been hurt worse before without being healed by two beautiful girls such as yourselves." The compliment was semi-genuine, but there was still a bit of white lie there. Kaz had once met a gorgeous nurse who had performed surgery on his foot when it had gotten crushed underneath the tires of a pick-up truck. But that woman was at least ten years his senior, and he was never really interested in Caucasian women anyway.
The crackling of the radio turned Kazʻs head, as his eyes widened. Edward was on the beach. Visions. Thatʻs what Kaz had seen. "Hmph, it seems Iʻve acquired psychic abilities. Amazing," Kaz mumbled sarcastically to himself as a group of agents came into view. He saw that a few had weapons, the same weapons that they always carried, and that filled him with hatred again. "Back off!" He shouted. One turned slightly, a surprised look on his face.
"Sir, if we donʻt disable him now, he may throw you back and hurt you again!" The agent argued, but Kaz merely threw his injured shoulder into him, knocking the guard off balance. "S-Sir!"
"Does it look like Iʻm disabled to you?" Kaz shouted. But then his hand immediately found his mouth as he covered it, blood rushing up to his cheeks. Had he really just yelled? "Forgive me, I didnʻt mean to yell like that..." Kaz whispered as he continued walking passed the agents. They all looked at him in disbelief. The boy had stopped bleeding, but he was still covered in blood. Yet he was walking, as if he were a walking dead.
He came to kneel in front of Edward, his eyes devoid of almost all emotion. "Edward..." Kaz whispered quietly as he gingerly picked up the angelʻs hand and held it in his own. The man kept on looking at the angel, kept on looking at him with lonely, sad obsidian eyes. "Iʻm sorry... I would never intentionally hurt you..." He sighed.

“Well no wonder brother was angry; you didn’t mean it of course so brother misunderstood you intentions. Silly brother does that quite a bit.” The two girls chimed smiling quietly to themselves. The two girls blushed at the compliment. “Well we can’t heal much more until you stop.” They continued. “It because your connected with brother, brother was made for you. Father told us so.”
The old man and the two girls watched as Kaz dealt with the agent. The two girls frowned when Kaz threw his still slightly injured shoulder into the man. “Forget them, go see brother.” The two girls pressed seeming unconcerned over any of the agents.
Darkened ruby eyes watched as Kaz approached, he gave a warning growl. While most of the pain was gone now, it still made him more irritable that and the nagging at his mind that told him he had done something wrong. He allowed his hand to be taken by the others seeing his sisters nearby and the soft whisper of his name. At the apology the darkened ruby eyes softened. “You weren’t going to kill me?” came the soft question.
The old man watched the small display before snapping his fingers. All agents moved forward except two behind the two girls. “Excuse me sir, we have orders.” Said an agent as he approached Kaz. It was obvious he had no wish to fight the man or the angel laying on the sandy beach but orders were orders.

"No Edward... I would never." It was a true statement, right from a heart that Kaz thought never truly existed inside of him. "You mean a lot to the government. If you disappeared, they would be in a state of panic. It was just a bluff... Iʻm sorry if I hurt you." Quietly, the boy pulled Edward closer to him until he was able to wrap his arms around the manʻs shoulders, careful not to touch his wings. "Your sisters said that you were made for me. As I was brought up to believe, I am also created for you. No matter what happens, weʻll always be together, alright?"
When the agent approached, Kazʻs arm shot out and smashed into the agentʻs ribcage, at least fracturing a rib or two. "What orders? I never heard of any of them." Kaz mumbled into Edwardʻs neck as he turned an eye on the other agents. His eyebrow was arched in such a way that made him almost seem like he was angry, but he was just incredibly skeptic.

Ruby eyes closed gently as he heard Kaz say he hadn’t and would never kill him. “I had thought that you were going to, father had said there was a small chance because that was the only way to break the bond.” Edward said softly when he was pulled closer to Kaz to allow the man to wrap his arms around him. “That’s what father told us, he said that I was made for you and we would have a bond that could only be broken by my death but the more time we spent together the stronger it would become. He said that it might scare you and that to stop it you would kill me that’s why I did what I did. I’m sorry I hurt you.” Edward continued softly burring his head in Kaz’s chest.
The agent let out a harsh pained breath but to his credit he did not step back. “Our orders were to collar number 13 if he ever were to go wild and fly off even from you.” The agent said clearly. “It’s a collar to disarm him should he decide to attack our troops its not to be used anytime except then.”

"I never heard of this bond thing before... and I frankly donʻt care." Kaz stated plainly, as if there were nothing abnormal about being connected with an angelic creature. "Even if it was to keep me breathing I wouldnʻt kill you... Itʻs not very easy to scare me into killing something," the boy smirked, running his fingers through the young manʻs hair softly.
"Unfortunately, that collar is also going to hurt me, too." Kaz mumbled as he let go of Edward and stood up. "Are you really going to hurt me, Sir?" Kaz asked innocently, looking up at the man with dejected eyes. "How cruel..."

Edward gave a soft smile hearing that Kaz didn’t care about the bond. He didn’t know if that was truly how the man was going to feel in the future but he believed in trusting him. They were linked after all and maybe at some point he would be able to know automatically when the other was lying but he didn’t think he was now. Edward closed his eyes once more allowing his head to lay in Kaz’s lap as finger ran through his dark hair soothingly.
“Hurt you? How would the collar do that, sir? It is meant to shut down number 13 and 13 alone.” The agent said a bit confused. “We don’t intend to hurt you in anyway.” He continued as the two twin like angels moved to their brother enveloping him in the same soft blue glow they had done earlier with Kaz. Any wounds or discomfort Edward felt from earlier or from his fall faded away.

"Feh, you really need to learn more about your experiments..." Kaz grumbled as he cracked his neck audibly. "If you hurt Edward, youʻre gonna inevitably hurt me too... Right, Old Man?" Kaz hissed, turning his heated glare on the older man standing near the back. "And you really gotta stop using those weapons... What use is a malfunctioned Edward?" The young man asked, turning back to the agent.
