Lexi glanced around for a moment, just to make sure no one was spying or anything that might get her in trouble. She quickly grabbed Dill and pulled him a bit closer, so the conversation would be a bit more secret. "Okay well, two years ago a few seniors were having a house party, you know the jock and cheerleader crowd, anyways, a bunch of skater punks crashed it and totally trashed the place. Even called the cops and said they were drinking and smoking pot 'n s**t, and a few of 'em got sent to jail. Since then there's been a kind of war between the two groups . I don't really follow all of it, but I'm basically bred to be this way 'cause of my family." Lexi explained to him with a light sigh. She then let go of him, dusting him off slightly with a light blush. "So yeah, that's why the football guys look like they're gonna rip you're limbs off since I'm like at the top of the pyramid according to the heirarchy." She said with a light chuckle, just shrugging her shoulders.

"Got it... but ummm.... could we still be friends?" Dill asked her. He really didn't care about all the hierarchy and he could handle the football players. He wasn't sure about her cheerleader friends though.

"I would love to be your friend but well... you see, it would be hard for us to hang out in public 'cause of all the spies 'round here. And I'd honestly not want to go through another verbal scolding from Katie." Lexi told him with a sigh, leaning her head against her locker, loving the cooling sensation it gave her, which caused her to smile. "So if we ever did hang out, it would have to be in secret. 'Cause well, it'd be social status suicide, in my friends' words." She then got an idea. "Hey, at lunch, meet me at the back steps by the 400 wing. You have a map, so you can find it but, we could hang out there if you'd like..."

Dill wasn't liking how the conversation had turned. "So you want to be secret friends? Am I getting that right. If we were to hang out, I would be liked your dirty little secret." He hated the damn song he didn't want to be one. He liked Lexi well enough but to be some closet friend and they could only hang out in dark corners of places was not his thing. He wanted to be able to hang out. Go see a movie, shop for junk, whatever friends do together. He was trying not to flip out on her in the middle of the hall on his first day.

Lexi sighed as she closed her eyes, backing away from him slowly before she closed her locker, spinning the lock so her combination would remain a secret. "Look, I like you. You're a sweet guy and I'd love to get to know you but..." She began before the warning bell rang for them to get to their next class. "Look," She took out a pen from her backpack and took his hand, scribblingher number quickly on his palm. "If you want to do something, then just contact me. There's my number 'n stuff, so yeah. Bye Dill." She said as she gave a weak smile, obviously trying to shield great pain. She then adverted her eyes from his own before she began to walk down the hall on her own, towards her Calc Honors B class.

Dill bit his tongue wanting to lash out. He pulled out his phone and put in her number as he walked to his next class, drawing. He was glad for it and even happier when all the teacher wanted them to do was free draw. He mostly doodled and thought about texting Lexi. He finally did so she would have his number. Hey its Dill he wrote.

Lexi was currently writing down notes when she felt her phone vibrate. She thought it was one of her friends and she really didn't want to talk to anyone right now, wanting to just ignore it. But there was always that possibility that it coudl be urgent. And that alone made her check who sent it. As she read it over, she sighed, texting him back. Hey, what's up She said before she pocketed her phone and returning to her notes.

He finished the small bit he was working on before answering his phone. In art.... I think we need to talk about this whole thing more.... still up for lunch? He hated to run around in secret but he need to finish this thing. he needed to know where they stood.

Yeah, well, if you are.. Lexi quickly texted back before she heard the class bell ring. "Finally." She muttered under her breath as she left the class. As soon as she did, she got bombarded by a lot of her jock friends, who all wanted to sit with her at lunch, since it was now lunch time. "S-Sorry guys, not today, I have other plans!" She exclaimed as she ditched them and made her way to the 400 wing stairs. She sat down on the steps as she stared out to the stream that flowed right next to the school campus.

Dill finally managed to find the 400 wing. "Damn.... sorry I would have been here sooner but this map isn't as clear as you'd think." He dropped his bag and sat on the steps next to her. "So I'm just gonna come right out with it.... I think the whole separate thing the school has going is stupid. And has nothing to do with us. that thing was years ago and we had nothing to do with it."

"It's no problem, I like it here. It's like my little getaway at school." Lexi replied with a smile before he began to talk. She sighed lightly before she placed her head into her hands. "I was there Dill, it was horrible. Maybe next year or the year after that this will all blow over, but we're the last class that was a part of it." She muttered, her head still in her hands. "You just don't understand, you weren't there. It was horrible." She felt tears begin to sting at her eyes, but she tried not to show it to him.

"No I don't really understand. It has nothing to do with you and me..... So yes I kinda subscribe to the title of skater. But I wasn't one of those guys and I don't like to think I'd have acted like them. So why do we have to hide anything." Dill was trying to back off. he could tell it was upsetting her a bit. "But its up to you."

"Why do you care so much about me or my situation in the hierarchy anyway?" Lexi asked him as she sat up, her face looking up to his own. Her make up was smudged and blackened tears had make lines down her cheeks. "All I did was say hi to you, why did I become the 'save Lexi' project to you all of a sudden?"

Dill shook his head, "Your the one that mentioned the friends thing. I'm just saying this whole thing is stupid and I don't want to be some closet friend." he put up his hands a little as he talked. He really didn't want to get attacked by her.

With a sigh, Lexi wiped underneath her eyes, removing the smudged make up that was caused from her crying. "I-I'm sorry, I'm just so stressed out and stuff. You don't deserve to be treated like that." She told him softly as she glanced over to him, trying to smile weakly but found it rather hard to do. "I've always wanted to learn how to skateboard. You think, well... you could show me sometime?" She asked him, trying to lighten the mood some.
