So, judging from this would it be possible to create some medication that fights against both alchoholism and depression at the same time?

I wouldn't like to say, really, but I'd be interested in any research investigating links between the two, particularly if a definite cause-effect link is drawn between seratonin deficiency and alcoholism.

As would I.

You know, maybe it's time for someone to found a Gaian Drunkard's Guild and give "GDG" a more positive connotation than that other one we knew..

..it would mean that the GBG will have spawned a literary Guild, a covert revolutionary guild/a-very-rich-guild, and yoghurt guild and a guild for drunks.

A rather revealing insight into our varied habits.

I say we just found a guild for literate, alcoholic British citizens who eat yoghurt and have lots of gold.
