Haha, it's so weird watching DN dubbed. XDD
.... after I finish episode three, I'll be watching episode 25 with subtitles now. D:
Edit: ..... okay, so L's voice is sexy, but... in this episode it seems too deep... and Ryuk's does sound too... notRyuk? XD;

Well, on the bright side, at least his voice wasn't too high pitched which would have been a lot worse in my opinion. xd
But yes, after the novelty of seeing it in English died down a bit, it does seem rather odd watching DN dubbed. I'll probably get used to it though.

oh and the person that does Ryuk's voice is the same person who did Vegeta... xDD
Light: "Ryuk, what is your problem? what do you want?"

The bus jacker's voice is scarily identical to the voice I imagined when reading the manga.

I heard a slight british accent on L last night! You can hardly hear it, but it's there.
I still think it's a bit too deep for L and not raspy enough. :/
I'm starting to like everyone else's voices, though. Even Ryuk's voice is growing on me. I hated his voice at first. D:<
Maybe L's will do the same, Iunno. :/

I nearly had a heart attack last night upon hearing Raye Penber's voice. I know he's going to die and I'll probably never have to hear him speak outside of this episode and the next, but it bugged me all the same. I though his voice actor did a lousy job in the emotion department, too.
And I want them to get into more secnes with L soooo badly! I want to hear him say more than two scentances at a time. They gave him such a sexy voice...and it's so wrong for him, but I love it anyway!

I loved L's voice. And in the anime version his voice is pretty deep, it's just so melancholy that he always kind of mumbles his words. Personally I think it's better that the english voice gave a bit more pep to L. Not a lot but it's easier for me to establish certain emotions that I couldn't determine very well with the anime sometimes. xD
And Ryuk, I thought his voice was pretty good too. Though sometimes I wish he was just a tad more sinister in his voice. I know he's not really sinister but it would seem to fit a certain scene better if it were.
And I'm not sure about Light. The biggest complaint I have about him is his laughter and akward lines. Sometimes he sounds off or hits the wrong tone of voice to me which makes him sound... akward. xD
But.... oh my original point, L does have somewhat of an accent because of where he lived before. But I honestly didn't think they would do that, I don't mind it though. :3

I choked on water when I heard Raye Penber's voice. I don't know why, but he makes me LAUGH. He's kinda monotone and rushed to me. I don't think I hated Raye before now. :X
And I also don't know why, but I kept laughing when poor Light talked. I think I actually choked twice when I was watching the newest episode. For Raye and Light. I don't think I can take Light seriously anymore.
And I think I laughed when L said Watari too. It's just so funny how American's try to pronouce Japanese names.
I need moar L though. I never liked the first few episodes because there was now L-ness in them. Two more episodes and we get to see him! > 3<

It sounded like they said yag-uh-mee.
The way the prounced it made me laugh, since all my friends and I say yuh-ga-mee.
Which is the correct way? O:

I did the same thing. When L said "Watari", after my laughing fit, I kept repeating the name myself. It feels strange when it rolls over your tongue, which made me giggle even more.
I wonder if they'll ever say the name "Wammy" xD
And I can't remember, was it episode six or seven when L finally shows up? D:

L Lawliet So. Our favorite little show has finally been dubbed into English. It officially airs tomorrow night, as you all probably know, but it has been discovered on the Adult Swim web site to watch early. It also seems that it will be posted onto the Adult Swim web site the Friday before the Saturday night airing, so I'll post links here when they come out. I'm not anymore because I'm lazy. Go look it up yourselves at adultswim.
(And before you guys start saying that it's against the rules to post sites to watch anime, that's not true. That only applies to illegal anime, where this showing on adult swim is perfectly legal. Just to get that clear.)
To reduce the clutter in this forum (because it's kind of getting on my nerves), I propose that this thread be the place to talk about the dubbed episodes each week.
Spoilers should be whited or the text size should be smaller, because we wouldn't want to spoil any slowpokes who are just watching the series and haven't either read the manga or have watched it with subtitles.
My thoughts on the first episode:
I'm going to have to watch more, really. To me, there's something wrong with their tone of voice, or how they stress certain words that bugs me. The voice actors are good actors, but I'm not sure yet if they really fit the characters. Also, with this in English, I can't seem to take the show seriously anymore, it just sounds a tad corny. But, I will watch more before I outright say it's no good.

Actually I think L and Light should switch voices! I've always thought of Light having a deeper voice and L with a.... well Light's voice! So I'm not so happy about the voices...

I guess I'm alone in thinking that L's voice could have been a little bit deeper, eh? xd
That and it cold be a little less expressive, but apart from that I quite like it.
I've actually gotten used to Light's voice now so I don't have a problem with it but actually being able to see L in full when he's talking meant it was actually quite weird. (If that makes sense)
And then he actually said 'justice will prevail'. Oh-ho-ho! biggrin
