Skye was two seconds away from running when some guy waved them in. Outwardly he was fine, a little intimidated, but what boy wouldn't when going to a girls house and was greeted by a bunch of family and friends of her parents or aunts in this case. But inside he was freaking out. His brain was screaming at him to get the hell out of dodge. This wasn't a good idea, he would be slaughtered if things went bad. He had no chance in hell.

She clenched her teeth together as she watched as a man had waved them in. She didn't recognize anyone of those that were present, and she figured that Skye was terrified just like her. Though, she wasn't going to allow herself to succumb to her fears. Well, not just yet anyways. Lyle took in a deep breath as she glanced over the faces of everyone in the room. She gathered her courage and decided now was a good time for questions. "What exactly is going on?" She asked bravely. She decided that she would search for answers before allowing herself to bring Skye any further into the house.

Skye glanced at Lyle for a second as she spoke. But he didn't feel it safe for him to keep his eyes off the guests for too long.

"Your Aunt invited us to dinner." He smiled at her, "Why don't you and the boy come join us Maura."

"I wasn't aware that we were going to have company tonight." Lyle replied. She almost shuddered at the mention of her first name. She dislike being called Maura ever since she was a little girl. Though, it didn't stop her from staying on guard about all this.

"Kind of a last minute addition. If you were home more Maura, you'd know these things." The man was wondering how many times he could get away with calling her this before she exploded with anger.

Skye was a little surprised to hear someone call her Maura. He could also tell she didn't like it.

Lyle wasn't sure how to respond to this. Everything this man was saying was beginning to really upset her. Especially how he was using her first name."It couldn't be helped. Younger generations these days would rather be out and about rather than stay home." She replied with a somewhat confident smile. Oh, what she wouldn't do to not be home right now either.

"Yes a rebellious bunch you all are. But still some manage to listen to their elders, don't they Maura..." He wasn't really asking a question. Just making a fine statement with out saying what he really wanted. He knew about the boy. Her aunt had informed them of it. He could see that the child wasn't listening.

The hair on the back of Skye's neck stood all at once. This wasn't looking good. To an on looker it just seemed like light banter between the two. But he knew better. He was ready to blot.

Her confident smile disappeared. He got her there. She was usually the one who had always listened to others, but things had changed. She felt the need to protect Skye right now, even if that meant disobeying her elders. Though, she couldn't do that. She couldn't disobey. Lowering her head, she gave Skye's hand a slight squeeze and began heading towards the empty seats.

He smiled a little. And signaled her aunt to start bring out the food. A few of the younger ones got up to help. "So what have you two been up to today?" He liked to pry and he could see his last statement had gotten to her.

Skye followed Lyle to the empty seats. He didn't want to sit down. His back at some point was going to be to one of them and that didn't sit well in his stomach. His shoulders were tense, well most of his body was. No amount of her reassuring squeezes were going to help him. He really wanted his knife back now, the cutlery on the table wasn't nearly as calming as one would have hoped.

Before sitting down, she looked up at the man. It seems like he wasn't finished with his questions. "This and that. Mostly walked around town to get a better feel of our surrounding." Lyle replied. She didn't want to give up just yet. She dropped her bag on the floor between the two empty chairs, thinking it would be easy access for Skye. The took a seat and folded her hands in her lap.

"This and that.... Ah I remember when I was your age and able to do ... this and that. Of course if I'd told my elders that I would have gotten a good smack. So why don't we add some detail into that response. I'm sure your aunt would love to know exactly what you've been doing today." He gave her a harsh look and at this point wanted to reach across the table and smack her.

Skye was grateful she placed her purse there, he couldn't see his knife but knew it should be a quick find if he needed it. And right now he wanted to use it on this brute of a man. He was being intrusive and he was sure Lyle hated him as well.

Taking in a deep breath, she forced a small smile onto her face. "Not much detail to add, really. We walked, checked out some stores, walked some more. Pretty simple really." She replied as politely as she could. Although she had never met this man, he was one of her elders and she needed to seem as polite as she could. Even if it was frustrating her beyond her limit.

He gave her a look and then started to dish himself some food. The others waited a patently as he did so. He was almost hoping that there wouldn't be enough food for the meet boy, but he doubted that would happen.

Skye kept his hands in his lap and tried to keep his eyes down. Every nerve in his body wanted to run. But he couldn't leave Lyle there alone. And running away wasn't his thing. His father said it was a good treat he had, but he figured even right now his father would yell for him to run.

Lyle felt accomplished with herself and ignored the look he had given her. She watched as he grabbed some food first, and how the others waited. Right now, she really wasn't hungry. She wanted to leave the table, and take Skye to the safety of her room. If that was even safe anymore. She glanced over at her aunt, who was standing in the doorway that connected the dining room with the kitchen. A stern look was on her face that had made Lyle look away. She knew her aunt didn't like the idea of her being around this hunter, but she also new that her aunt was one of the wolves that followed the whole prophecy of the black wolf making peace with a hunter.

"Well don't be shy, go eat all of you." He started to eat as he let the others get food.

Skye made to make a small plate, even though he doubted he could keep anything down. As he reached for the spoon of the mashed potatoes he felt something hard come down on his hand. It was almost hard enough to brake his hand and he pulled it back and made not one sound. He knew if he had, it could cost him.

He looked at the boy with a glare. He hadn't been talking to the meet boy. He wasn't having him eat before the others. Even Maura should eat before the human. He had hit the boy with the end of his fork, he had hoped to brake his hand on accident, but heard no bones crack. It was a shame.
