*after their dinner at Chatty Kathy's, Karrie and Amy had returned home for some dessert, a chocolate-raspberry cake he'd baked while she was gone on Saturday.
After sleeping late, as they'd planned, they got up and, taking Thistle and Velcore with them, went to Lily's Pad for brunch. After they finished eating, Karrie presented Amy with her gift, which he'd made a few months earlier. Kits had remembered seeing the pendant when he first made it, and mentioned it when Karrie was worried about finding the right gift for Amy. It had taken a bit of searching in the garage to find it, and Karrie hadn't actually located it until Friday morning.
Once everybody had eaten their fill, Karrie, Amy, and their pets had returned to Karrie's house to spend a few hours relaxing before Karrie had to leave for work*

Stepping up from the shadows, Daniel put a foot up on the edge of the roof of the tall building he had chosen. It was as close as he could get to Aqua Springs and not risk being seen, mostly helped by the height of the eight floor building he stood atop. Aqua Springs was well down the road from where he stood. He could easily make out the parking lot out front, but he could only make out vague motions through the front entrance. He had however, heard enough already. He had first travelled to his office, having left his books behind in his previous haste to deliver his note to Jessi's apartment. The cacophony of noise that he had heard there had been enough. The last time he had experienced even close to that had been the mind stretching chaos of the Most Wanted bar on Christmas Eve. An event he had no desire to repeat, even slightly.
"You're doing it again."
Daniel didn't even turn at the sound of the now familiar voice.
"What precisely?"
A slight hint of motion told Daniel that the woman who had been following him had come to stand next to him.
"Excluding yourself. Standing aloof from everyone else. Many have thought that you do it because you think your better, or because you think we aren't worthy."
Daniel glanced over at the woman. She actually had her hood down, and her hair was only loosely held back with a small clasp. Otherwise, her outfit was the same as both his previous encounters.
"That's nice. Don't you ever change clothes?"
The woman smiled softly. And when she spoke, it was just as soft.
"Your concern and your inquisitiveness is what gave you away to the rest of us. You don't stand apart because you're better. You stand off because you worry. You worry you don't belong. Worry that no one could associate with someone like you, someone with that kind of...responsibility."
Daniel turned to look back down at Aqua Springs in the distance. After a moment, the woman turned and he heard her slowly walk away.
"You've been given something few people ever receive. A clean slate. Sure, much of you is still in there. But who says you have to be exactly the same?"
After a few moments of silence, Daniel turned and confirmed that the woman had gone. He still hadn't gotten a name from her. Her last words still echoed in his head though, as he turned back to look down at Aqua Springs, considering.
