Shayna didn't see the snitch. So she stopped to watch how the tryouts were going. One chaser didn't look like he was having much if any fun at all. Whilst one seemed pretty confident. She liked the girl, that kind of spirit was needed in a team like this. She couldn't believe that their team was now... Almost empty... Oh well. She looked around for the snitch once more.

spaceGypsy's eyes narrowed when Xavier came away with the ball... barely! But he did, and she grit her teeth and took off after him, her eyes blazing. She was not going to be the weak link! She absolutely refused! She trailed him on her broom, holding tight and flying towards him, determined to get the ball away from his hold.

spaceGypsy frowned when she epically failed trying to steal from Xavier. God, this sucked! She needed to get her head in the game! It had completely escaped her realm of reasoning that this was just tryouts; she was taking this seriously. After all, in a real game, not doing so would be disastrous! Unfortunately, when she got competitive, and started losing, her temper got the better of her. She watched as Rufus, the older student and only returning chaser, easily swiped the ball from Xavier's hands. She glared; how was she ever going to get the ball from him? With her fellow third year she had a shot, but... for someone who hadn't cared about Quidditch, she cared about it a hell of a lot right now... which was why she'd never allowed herself to care about it before. Her competitive nature got the better of her. But, there was no going back now. She set her sights on Rufus and closed in, hoping beyond all hope to manage to steal the ball from the more experienced player.

Shayna kept her eye on the Snitch as she chased it. But she kept her other on the players. She wasn't racing to catch it since there wasn't any kind of competition but she pushed her broom to it's limit so that she would get close and enjoy the feel of the wind.

spaceGypsy's scowl was going to become permanent if things didn't look up soon. She'd very nearly stolen the ball from Rufus, which she supposed was an improvement over her utter failure before, but it wasn't doing anything to improve her mood. Her eyebrow twitches in annoyance when Xavier failed to steal as well. How were they supposed to get the ball from him, he'd been on the team for years! Her eyes narrowed and she lowered herself to her broom, going for another steal, not bothering to waste time or energy on hoping it would work.

Shayna smiled at the tenacity of some of the newbies. They were continuing to try which was great. But Rufus had been here on this field for several years! She almost felt bad for them. She turned her attention back to the snitch and lowered herself to her broom and pressed forward, enjoying the flight.
