I wouldnt say so... its... complicated... but if you dont mind the obviously controversial nature of the games... I'd definitely pick em up! SMT Devil Survivor is a good starter game, its a stand alone game. 1 and 2 were Japan only, so don't bother looking, 3 is called Nocturne here (Strange Journey is technically 4) The Raidou Kuzunuha (sp?) are stand alone series, and the Persona games are all stand alones as well. There's also the Digital Devil Saga games.
Sooooo... yeah...... just pick one of the games up and try em XD (Im playing Strange Journey without any knowledge of Nocturne so dont worry bout getting it)

well seeing as you ARE getting them of corse you would pick them up ^^
and i might try them sometime. but at the moment theres just too much going on in life and not enough money circling around

Also, just to be clear bout the whole "demon" thing, thats just the term used, actual demons arent the only thing included under that, anything from myths/folklore could end up there, loki? hes there. (including many other god/goddesses, like shiva and thor) fairies and pixies are there too! Don't forget the loveable Frost family, also Atlus's and the series unofficial mascots! (especially Jack Frost) Elves, kobolds, dryads, Cerberus, goblins too. And even the angels fall under the term (angel, archangel and power are some of the lower leveled ones)
The demons are split up into several families, and are also given allignments (lawful, neutral, chaotic) allignments play major roles in most of the games since you're ending will follow your allignment.
The demons also have personalities, as shown in the negotiation... some of them kind of make me feel bad neutral
.......and I'm shutting up now before I start sounding like a gamefaqs writer ninja
