The tall youth tipped his head when she said her name. Tokoto of the Kurena clan. He had never heard about that family, or at least he did not recall them, but from the sound of it, it seemed to be important. Belamus spoke to him, his tone seemed sarcastic, it felt like his question was meant to taunt Akura into saying something, but as to what it was, he couldn’t even garner a guess. “My shtick?” He asked, putting his hand on his chin, thinking. His eyes went over to the other woman that had arrived with… a Rabbit? Now there was something you didn’t see every day. His mind went back to the conversation at hand. “I don’t know.” He said flatly. His hands went to his strangely colored eyes, black sclera with icy grey solid pupils: the eyes of a jiongu. That was his shtick, he figured, but it didn’t feel quite right. That was who he was, it wasn’t explicitly something he could do. “I’m into puppets, and my insides are made of threads, I don’t know if either of those fall under amazing talents.” He looked away from Belamos, feeling like he had failed the question altogether for some reason. Maybe this was a test the captain was putting onto him, and he couldn’t grasp the higher meaning. “I honestly don’t know if that answers your question, sir.”

Belamos turned over his shoulder to look at the girl who had arrived, signaling her to walk into the academy with the squad. Once they were all present, Belamos would look at the group assembled. They had...well, they were interesting to say the least. The girl definitely needed an attitude check, that was for sure. "Welcome, one and all" He said, sweeping his arms to the side "My name is Belamos Karna, your instructor" He would begin pacing in front of the assembled group, looking into all of their faces "We are going to begin a little team building exercise" Bringing his hand up, Belamos pointed to a flag which was attached to his upper arm "I am going to be somewhere in the academy, and you guys are going to try to find me and take this." Summoning his spear, Belamos rested it on his shoulder and grinned "Handle this however you want, but you have 30 minutes. Good luck" In a harsh burst of flames, Belamos vanished.
Unknown to them, he reappeared on top of the Academy, standing behind the water tower. If he heard any of them coming he would move away but otherwise used the time to withdraw and begin reading their academy files. Learning who they were, and who they wanted to become would be of great importance in their teaching. He was particularly interested in the psych eval and personality test portion of their records. They were all very different. Time to see how they operated together.

Katherine had caught the tail end of Belamos popping out of existence and teleporting into the roof. She hadn't heard whatever had been said to the people he was behind, so she was unawares where he went or what he was doing. Even so, she observed the two, and her heart sort of fluttered a little. First and foremost that boy was here, with that cute streak of blue hair in his head, braid tied together in a way that made him look a bit regal, maybe a little posh. Why was it that she couldn't figure out the deja vu she got from looking at him? He looked like someone she knew in a past life... like an old friend. The word Promise kept ringing in the back of her mind. A promise for what? She felt a pull to him, something platonic but strong. Powerful as it was though it was fleeting, gone the moment she realized he wasn't him.
For the bunny girl, once her eyes were set, behind her glasses she scrutinized her. She was behind the flutter. She didn't make it obvious as she wandered in their general direction. Her ears were interesting, and the way they framed her face made her even more adorable. Katherine had always been fond of the cute ones. She removed her glasses, placing them in her pockets and allowing the soft lilac hues to flicker over to the other girl and her black rabbit. That made the corners of her mouth turn up into something closer to a smile than a smirk. She approached them more deliberately, and offered a wave to the duo. "If I had to guess, Belamos has either handed you a bundle of s**t to do, or decided to somehow test you? If you need help training, I'm here for yah." Her voice was softer than usual, more intimate even if accidental. Thank god Vivian and Belamos weren't there to hear and take note.

Chigiri sighed softly as Belamos seemed to be one of those types to never pull any punches when it came to hard lessons. "So... We have a task to locate a man, well beyond our skill level and well beyond our realm of knowledge. Who ever said this job was going to be easy?", she remarked to herself more than anyone in particular. The venom in her words easily displayed her utter disdain for the mission, but her honor as a member of the Sonozaki yakuza family would not let her back down.
Chigiri and Kuro both seemed to contemplate a moment before continuing on, trying to bring up the head to this situation as she felt that if she were going to be the likely front-liner, organizing the group was left up to her "Splitting up is a terrible idea given what we can tell from his physique. Kuro and I are purely physical at the moment...Personal analysis beyond puppets and strings are requested.", she said to the other two in her group before looking to Katherine and offering a solemn nod. "Yeah, you guessed right. Sensei is probably trying to establish dominance by trying to make us take his spear...but that doesn't mean we gotta let him have it easy, right?", she said with a confident grin.
Chigiri came up with an ingenious idea to kill two birds with one stone as she drew her blade and began to go through some basic kata. "Warming up will get us ready, and also allow us to better understand each other's skills. Right, Kuro-bun?", she said as she gave her rabbit a thumbs up and took a step forward, and sliced, providing a fast sweep of the blade. It was a part of her fighting style and form. Practicing the linear steps to increase her own speed would likely make it easier to provide a challenge for Belamos.

This was then followed up with a thrust to the air before her, away from harming anyone present as she then utilized another of her basic skills to provide an offensive maneuver that would likely be used to throw a person off edge before following up with a proper technique. "I can't wait to get my hands on Sensei. I won't allow him to ruin our group's honor.", she said as she spun her blade around and prepared for the final demonstration of her skills.

Chigiri had been schooled in swordsmanship from those familiar with the samurai techniques, having lived in the Land of Iron. Her eyes seemed to fixate on her blade as she coated the edge in a layer of blue chakra, turning the steel edge into something slightly stronger, like titanium-steel alloy in hardness and breakability...or rather lack there of. "So...what about you two?", she said as she looked over her shoulder to Totoko and Akura. "Thirty minutes, so we should make this part quick and start looking for an a** to kick and a spear to take."

Akura’s heart seemed to stop when he saw this new woman come in, he had seen her once before, in the office, moments ago, but he was in the haze of triumph, so he didn’t register her, not really, but now, there was something uncanny about her, her dark hair and clear eyes seemed familiar, the kind of familiarity that comes from a memory that is just out of reach, a word at the tip of the tongue that you just can’t manage to get out, or the concept of an idea, an idea your mind knows how wonderful it is just out of reach, escaping constantly, vexing you, and just as fleeting as that moment is in your mind, that flicker of recognition left him, snapping out as a lightbulb that suddenly burned out. In his face, his mouth, the words ‘do I know you?’ wanted to pour out. They didn’t. He turned his attention to the girl with the bunny, who was talking, but he had partially tuned out. “I think he’s trying to gauge us much more than establishing dominance.” Akura said, giving one possible explanation as to what Belamos was doing and what his intentions were, but he could never be too sure. He excused himself from the group and quickly came back with two distinct scrolls. He let them drop to the floor and sat down, with legs crossed before spreading the two scrolls open, one to his left, and the other to his right.
For the first thing he would learn, he needed tools of some sort to move about, so he stuck his hand into his pouch, and got out five kunai. He laid them all in front of him, between the two scrolls in a semi-circle with their tips pointing outwardly. “Okay, according to this, I need chakra in my hand…” He mumbled to himself as he extended his right hand, while his left arm was down to the side, resting over the scroll, his index finger outstretched, going over the words as he read them. Upon finishing his brief reading, he closed his eyes and let his chakra flow freely though his body, feeling the amorphous force ebb and flow like the mighty sea. Then, he focused it, first on to the palm of his hand where it became visible in its light blue hue; a harmless blue fire raging on both sides. From there, it shot forward, covering his fingered at first, but quickly dissipating, focusing on the tip of his fingers, and then thinning out into threads that, while at first fickle and seeming to be ready to break at any moment gained tenuous form. The fell like water off a cliff, hitting the ground, and then sliding forward, as Akura commanded, until they reached the rings of his kunai, were they wrapped around them. He removed his left hand from the scroll and put it on the wrist of his right arm, as if to stabilize it, and then pulled up, getting the kunai to dangle a few inches, or a foot at most, from the ground, suspended with his chakra strings. “Now, if only I had a real puppet…” He complained bitterly as he moved his arm down, gently allowing the kunai to rest on the ground.

From there, he moved to the other scroll, doing the same thing he did with the first, leaning toward the opposite scroll, and setting his right hand, once the chakra of the strings had been dispelled and the kunai were safely in their pouch, on the scroll he began to read its contents: “Jerk hand violently until wrist pops, then follow by focusing chakra inside of arm, targeting particular threads from within to make them move individually. Seems easy enough.” With that, he began to flick his arm downward then jerking it with his other hand until he felt a slight pop. Then, he let his focusing do the rest of the work. Akura closed his eyes and leveled his breathing, feeling his chakra once again, letting it decide which threads to target, which threads it felt more comfortable targeting. He could feel it, like those strange moments when one’s nerves twitch; it was like that, but instead of slight twitching, it was movement, like a snake, and before long, one thread broke his skin from his wrist, then another next to it, and then a third, extending itself from the tip of his pinky. Every time they came out, he felt a light pinch, but nothing too painful or unbearable. The tendrils moved about freely, and he rose, triumphant at mastering his first two real techniques.

Belamos' reintroduction caused Totoko to look up from her studies to listen to him more intently. Sure she could see him regardless but that was besides the point. It was important to let the speaker know that you were actively listening to them. In this case that meant turning to face him. At the mention of doing a team building exercise her ears perked up. That sounded rather exciting. She wanted to get to know her new team better. Weirdly though it seemed as if they would be playing some kind of hide and seek game.
While the poor girl wasn't able to keep up with his movements when Belamos vanished from where they all were, the academy really wasn't all that large and well Totoko had three hundred and sixty degree vision that detected all life even through obstacles. So when his light vanished from the spot where he was it didn't take her long to identify the new blip of life on the roof. However she wasn't exactly sure if Belamos knew of this aspect of her kekkei genkai and if he didn't well she'd be ruining what seemed to be the goal of this activity. Indeed she could inform the others right now of his location but then he might be upset if they found him too quickly. It could be embarrassing to him and she had no desire to do that to her new superior. The last thing she wanted to do was make Belamos mad at her again. So in her mind, there was a danger in revealing his location.
Rolling up and pocketing the genjutsu scroll for the time being she stood up and looked at her two squad mates. They both had begun to learn before seeking out their leader so hopefully they were ready to go. Apparently they had lingered in the office far longer than she had though so who could say. That was when a light more beautiful and blinding than any other she had seen to date entered into the academy. It was not only bright but it also seemed to move and swirl with action as if it were made up of countless smaller sources of life. Totoko was momentarily taken aback and even blushed at this new comer. Were it not for the need of finding their sensei she would have simply turned off her life sight to not be as distracted. More to the point the newcomer, who was apparently female, knew of Belamos and offered additional help with their training. If it weren't for already being burnt out from studying so much already, she would have gladly and sheepishly accepted the offer.
That being said her team took priority. Chigiri seemed to think that splitting up was a bad idea and Totoko was inclined to agree if only because they had no means of relaying messages to each other while apart. As well getting to know each other was a good idea, one that she would at least contribute to in part. "I'm a genjutsu specialist... no physical skills to speak of really. I do know a lot already though, for example I can cloak myself and be silent." For now she remained silent on the questions of what their leader was doing. Honestly if she had to guess.... he was reading? It was hard to tell since she couldn't see what his hands were interacting with, just how they moved occasionally. "So um... where should we start?" she asked nervously while knowing full well where Belamos was.
He sat atop the water tower, his legs dangling over the side, reading through their information. First up Chigiri Sonozaki. By the high marks she got on her swordsmanship exam in the Academy, and her last name, she was undoubtedly tied to the Sonozaki Crime Syndicate. She had very few complaints from her instructors, but her attitude in this exchange was rather sour. He would have to teach her how little her background mattered, and hopefully bring her self-importance down a peg. Her role as a tamer was one the village did not currently possess, and perhaps her ambition would prove a boon. It would be interesting to see how it played out.
Totoko Kurena huh? Well he already knew everything this file said, and that which he didn't know he could guess. Timid, shy; this girl was an introverts wet dream. Her Genjutsu aptitude was through the roof, which confirmed what she told him earlier. With any luck, her growing strength would cause her to grow equally in confidence. Aside from that, her file didn't really hold any-, wait, what is this? Silently mouthing the words, he skimmed over her psychological examination 'Ms. Kurena is, by every sense of the word, a typical shinobi. She functions well in small group environments and attempts to please others, some would argue to a fault. However, when significant stress is placed upon her she has shown more aggressive tendencies. This is likely stress related, but could also be indicative or deeper, more violent, tendencies. Regardless, she is cleared to graduate' So, stress huh? He could manage that.
Lastly, he skipped over to Akura Bashirou's. As the youngest of the group, he would naturally be playing catch-up a lot. Still, his Kekkai Genkai definitely set him apart. He had encountered one such as him in his past, and he shuddered at the thought. Whether Akura knew it or not, he was, effectively, immortal. His wide Ninjutsu arsenal also made him a very versatile combatant, and when you added his Puppetry, which he got perfect scores on in the academy, it made him a very tough opponent. It would be hard to tell what he was going to do. All in all, he was likely the most dangerous out of the three of them.
"Welp, they've had long enough to prepare, let's kick this thing off" Dropping down from the water tower, Belamos weaved a single sign as he hit the ground. As soon as he did so, 2 copies of himself appeared before him. The Shadow Clone Jutsu was split his chakra into perfect copies of himself, indistinguishable from one another. With a nod, all three of them vanished in another pillar of fire. One appeared outside, behind a boulder in a courtyard. Another, atop the bleachers in the Gymnasium, and a third one would reappear in the kitchen of the academy's cafeteria. Which one was the real one? They only had 25 minutes left to find that flag, or else Belamos's punishment would be dropped onto them all.

Chigiri paused for a moment as time was ticking and there was very little time to account for everything. "We know from the profile of our Sensei...he's probably interested in places of training, as he did not seem like the studious type. The nature of our mission may involve combat, so we can likely assume it would be a place were collateral damage is unlikely... I doubt he would like to explain to Sergeant Skelly about a ruined class-room or damaged facilities not intended for such.", she muttered as she considered this from as many angles as possible. "Let's check the training field or the gymnasium as those seem like the two most likely points we will encounter him...though, keep your guard up and let's move as a group. I'll take point, Totoko in the middle, and Akura can take up the rear... Need to keep the non-physical asset protected so support can be dished out.", she said as she clapped her hands together. Chigiri had come up with a plan of action, and unless anyone objected, that seemed like the best way to go about it.
Then Kuro jumped up and waved a paw as if to get Chigiri's attention for orders too. The bunny seemed eager to have her own role to play in the mission at hand. Chigiri smiled and nodded to the small black rabbit. "Oh right...and Kuro, stay close and in the shadows. Thump if you see something.", she added as she gave her rabbit a command, only to receive a salute from her intelligent companion. So far it seemed more logical to keep Kuro close at hand.

Nah, it was fine Katherine hadn't wanted to cash in on a mission helping to teach anybody. Twas totally fine that nobody had made any mention of her helping them, I'm not tilted. It was all good though because she had a skill she wanted to learn while she was there herself. It involved using her insects, and as such she would clear away from the fresh genin who were off to the races trying to catch Belamos.
Katherine allowed a bit of her swarm to crawl free from her sleeve, buzzing about around her open palm. She focused her eyes on the bugs, seeing buzzing wings and feeling how powerful they could be. She focused in on the buzzing, and sent some chakra through the network to all of the stronger buzzers, causing the strain to Abathur its way to all of them and increase in power. She now had a skill that would and could be easily used on an opponent that was entrapped by her bugs. [Custom Bug Buzz learned.] With that done, she would take off, only to return after some tai training.

Akura’s first gut reaction was to split up and try to find him first, covertly, and then, once they had located Belamos, regroup and make a plan, but Chigiri seemed to be sure that the way she had planned for their movement was the best. This way, while they covered ground slower, they were all safer. As individuals, they were never going to be able to retrieve the flag, but maybe if they worked as a single unit, they might stand a chance. Staying together meant that they wouldn’t be picked off one by one, so that would, ultimately, prove to be the better strategy. “I agree with her.” He said after a moment, although somewhat reluctantly. “This is probably a combat mission, as such, the best way to do this is to work as a team, so lead the way.” He said to Chigiri, and motioned for Totoko to step ahead of him so he could take the rear of the group. His job was both to ensure that Belamos didn’t sneak up on them, and ultimately, to protect Totoko in the off chance that he got the upper hand and attempted to break them up.
Totoko listened to her comrades intently. She wasn't really sure about the notion that this was a combat test. But she wasn't one to speak up in opposition to her teammates. Keeping an eye on their sensei she watched as he jumped down to ground level. It wasn't long after that before two more copies of him appeared. However they lacked the light of life that the original had so when the three scattered via that jutsu once again, she was able to keep track of the real one. That being said this little maneuver assured her that Belamos did not want to be found quickly. "Sure thing" she replied to Chigiri and Akura as she stepped in between them. Perhaps after a few minutes she would reveal their leader's location.
Belamos's First Clone, the one in the classroom, exited via the window and walked on the exterior walls to the roof. He removed his flag from his arm and placed it onto the water tower. He then hid behind some type of water heater, waiting to see if the kids would come up here and take the bait. The second clone did much the same in the gymnasium, except he placed his in the center of the room on a pole and his behind the bleachers. Before he hid, thought, he smacked the floor quite loudly with his boot. When they walked in they would not see him, he made sure of that, but would definitely see the flag.
The real Belamos leaned against the boulder, looking up to the Sky, daydreaming. He would hear them when they arrived. He wasn't so aloof as to fall asleep after all. He meditated, working on expanding his inner chakra pool. He needed to get stronger, even more so than he already was. He was, by far, the strongest shinobi in his village, but there we other people; other villages. He needed to eclipse them all. He thought, long and hard, about who he was and who he needed to become. He had Vivian and Katherine firmly by his side. The potential for 3 more fingers allowed him to form his first fist. It would be the fist he used to smash the UHV. He had developed many different forms of jutsu. His fire had grown in strength. It was unparalleled. He was unparalleled. It wasn't good enough, he had to press on. Horace, on that day, sneered down at him from his mahogany throne. He would burn it with the man still on it. Burn the whole damn lot of them. His students, they would play a helpful role. The stronger he got, the stronger he could help them get. The cycle would continue. Should he fall, one of his subordinates would continue his legacy. He knew this to be true.

Chigiri and Kuro lead the way on their group expedition to locate their sensei and to attempt to separate him from his spear. As the tamer lead the group, she could not help but feel completely defeated already at the level of impossibility that was set before them. There was no point to this in her mind. Three genin were not going to even make a jounin break a sweat, even if he was only a chuunin until recently. It just meant that there was ambition, and it was a dangerous emotion to contend with...she knew it all too well, being the ambitious one herself.
Chigiri only let herself dwell on her introspective analysis of her sensei and his assumed profile a little longer before she looked over her shoulder as they neared the first stop, the training field. "Step to..We're near our first mark.", she muttered. "You two might want to resort to sneaking around the edge. Let's sweep and clear, and move on if Sensei isn't there.", Chigiri added as she placed a hand on the handle of her katana and strode forward boldly into the training field.
The raven haired kunoichi was not afraid, or if she were, it was not shown on her face as she smirked and drew the blade from it's sheath at her waste. The katana Chigiri wielded was nothing spectacular, and seemed standard issue for anyone from the Land of Iron. She made no verbal sound as she walked further into the clearing of the training area, looking to the dummies and boulders were people would usually aim their attacks and jutsu for practice.
With a signal of two fingers, she directed Kuro to sneak through the brush, just around the outside, giving her a set of eyes north of her to view the other side of the field and anyone hiding behind objects that Chigiri and the group could not readily see. If Belamos were there, and spotted by the rabbit, a steady thumping sound would be audible as the furry creature would slam a hind foot against the ground in a rapid five-tap burst. It was usually used by rabbits to signal to other rabbits that 'Hey, this is my turf!', but in this instance, it remained a warning signal to Chigiri that they were not alone..and also not a signal that many ninja were aware of, since it was easily disguised as nothing more than wildlife ambiance.

Akura was constantly looking around, keeping an eye on Belamos, hoping to catch a glimpse of him, but for the time being, he had no such luck. This felt like it was a waste of time, if they were to split up, he they could cover more ground and maybe find their teacher, there was more risk in doing it this way, but the benefits outweighed the risk in his view. Still, he said nothing, and followed orders. He had no idea what she meant when she said that they were near their first mark, but he fell to the left, shadowing the edge of the training area, moving in tandem with Chigiri and Totoko, should she also fall in line. He looked around him, scanning the area around him and around the two women, but saw nothing. “We should move on,” He said to himself after a while.
As they moved through the academy towards the training field Totoko was able to tell that were approaching their sensei's location but she said nothing. So far it seemed as if they would simply find him by sheer dumb luck and/ or Chigiri's instincts. Either way was fine since it meant she wouldn't get in trouble for outing their leader. Sweeping to the opposite side from Akura she still remain relatively close to Chigiri so that if a need for protection were to arise the girl wouldn't be far off.
Chigiri sighed softly as Belamos seemed to be one of those types to never pull any punches when it came to hard lessons.
