"Let's go!" Erik said as he wiped Bachi's face with an unbandaged thumb and ran his hand through her hair again. Maura passed him walking out of the door and waiting for them on the other side of it.

Bachi nodded and placed an arm on Kiki. Her hand burned and healed over and over again. But Bachi wasn't in pain. "Walk forward, Kiki," Bachi said, pushing her along slightly.

Kiki's almost lifeless body moved with the push. But her soul was screaming. It was scared and confused. Why was this happening? What was she really? What had Bachi hide from her....

Bachi felt guilty for not telling Kiki what she really was, and she knew soon enough she would have to tell her.

They'd gotten to the edge of the city and Erik was beginning to get tired. They hadn't been moving that fast, but it was a good enough pace to get to the river in time. But then again, it really depended on Kiki. She seemed to be getting worse and worse but she wouldn't move any faster. "We can make it! We're so close! Just another few minutes and we're there!" he thought.

Bachi could see the river from where they were. They were so close! "Come on Kiki, we're almost there!" she said in a dead tongue.

Kiki could hear something...words? She lifted her head to look at Bachi, her eyes nothing but flames sealed off by her lens. She smiled, as if nothing was wrong. Her face was nothing but pure inocents.

It nearly broke Bachi's heart to see that smile. "This is my fault...if only I had told her sooner what she really is...this could have be avoided." she said. Of course this was a lie, but that's how she felt.

The whole time, Maura had been just in front of Bachi and Kiki, to keep watch. Erik was slowing down, though it was fine because she could see the river. She knew exactly the area Erik was headed. The water there was only about 4 feet at the deepest and didn't flow as fast since there was a convinient grouping of rocks the slowed it. Once they made it, maura waved the two girls on to get Kiki into the water as fast as they could. "Hurry and get her in Bachi!" Maura shouted. She was on the verge of tears.

Bachi almost pushed Kiki into the water, tears now coming to her eyes. It was so heart breaking to see Kiki in such a state.

Steam burst around Kiki's body like a tornado on a rampage. Her eyes seemed to foucs a bit, but only a little. The steam almost looked like wings on her back...

[color-red]Bachi gasped, "Oh no....it's coming sooner then I thought..." she said, looking at the wings forming on Kiki's back like whirl winds. She turned to Erik and Maura,"Your day of recining will soon come...." she whispered.

"Day of reckoning? What the hell are you talking about Bachi?" Erik asked backing away from the water's edge. This was going to get rough, he could tell without anyone telling him, but what exactly was going to happen, was beyond his grasp right now.

Maura could only stand by Erik and watch the sorrowful sight her mind would not be able to rid itself of. But she answered Erik's question saying, "The time when we are called to account for our actions, to pay our debts, or to fulfill our promises or obligations. So we'll be judged by our past actions concerning them."

Bachi only stared on at Kiki, whom was completely ingolfed in steam, the water around her feet was no longer water, but steam. "Kiki....will judge you all sooner then I expected. I thought you had at least two years. But from the look of how quickly her wings are forming...I wouldn't even give it a year." she ripped her eyes away from Kiki for a moment, "You have until that day to change Kiki's mind about this world. She is still uncertan that humans desrive to life on top. She has been treated so badly before she met you two...I doubt her mind will change." she sighed.

The steam around Kiki's body slowly disapeared, her body becomeing cool yet again. Her mind became clear with her thoughts again. Her knees buckled, "What...." she fall.

color=red]Bachi caught Kiki before she hit the water, scooping her up into her arms. She was stronger then she looked. Bachi looked down at the sleeping Kiki in her arms, she sighed. "You two maybe the only humans to live through what this little girl is going to dish out..."she mumbled. Bachi fingers brushed up Kiki's bachi...feathers. Bachi slowly lifted Kiki a little, so she could view her back. There, growing from Kiki's shoulder blades...were wings. They looked like baby angel wings at the moment. One black, one white. "by the end of the year, these will be beautiful, large wings. When they finishing growing. Your time will come..." she sounded sad. She hugged Kiki tightly to herself, a single tear rolled down her cheek. "I am sorry milady, such a burden should not be for someone so lovely and pure. For that, forgive me..." she hugged tighter, turning to looked at Erik and Maura. Her face suldim.

Erik now fully understood after Maura and Bachi explained. "Then it's settled. We have no choice but to keep watch over Kiki and show her that humans deserve another chance. We have a year, we'll do it in less than that," Erik said taking Kiki from Bachi and carrying her as he began to walk. "Let's get going, ladies! Time is of the esscence!"

Road finished eating and helped Emmy get dressed and took her outside for a walk.

Emmy walked beside Road "are we going somewhere?"

Kiki awoke in Erik's arms, who seemed to be in a stream? She looked up weakly at him, "What happened? Why are we outside? Did you finish your breakfest?" she asked, acting motherly yet again.

Bachi looked at Erik, her face scary 'Don't tell her a thing! She must not know! and we need to hide the wings from everyone, now!' she told Erik and Maura in thought.

Erik suddenly paused, somehow hearing Bachi's frantic plea. First, he put her down, smiled warmly at her and pushed some wet hair behind her ear. "Yes Kiki! We all finished breakfast and it was great! You'll have to cook for us again sometime!" He then gave her his jacket explaining that she was soaking wet and it really wasn't a time to be getting sick. There, no wings showing.

Maura finished the mission and explained, "We all decided tooo...take a walk! You kinda umm...tripped and fell in the water!" It was a terribly unprepared lie, but it would fool Kiki.
