*Goes up to the Main Bar to get a quick latte before heading out to Upper GGG. She makes her latte, has a seat at the bar, grabs the morning paper and goes through the headlines as she gets her daily dose of caffeine.*

Yawning as she enters the bar, she sees Psy sitting at the bar. Heading for the espresso machine, she greets her as she starts making a cafe' mocha.
"Mornin' Psy....hope you had a good time last night."
She covers another yawn and tops off her coffee with whipped cream and chocolate syrup before taking a seat next to Psy.

*She looks up from her paper and sips her latte.* Every party you throw is a good one. I just wasn't in the right frame of mind and Seth didn't help much. stare

"Pft, he came damn close to getting his a** banned from here last night. He was damn lucky he shut up when he did."
She takes a sip of coffee and looks at Psy.
"Not the right frame of mind? You looked like you were having a pretty good time. What happened?"

It's really nothing. I just need to get used to it I guess. It just seems like I have such little time even seeing William due to his current schedule. *She sighs and shrugs.* I guess such is the life of a cop and I just need to accept it. neutral

"Aw, Psy...I'm sorry. And that's true, you'll have to get used to it if you're going to stay with him. But Dougherty loves you, anyone with two eyes can see that when he's around you."
She sips her coffee and looks down at the bar.
"At least you know how he feels about you. Justin and I were barely more than lovers, so it was a bit easier for me when I decided to end things between us. That, and the activities I had been involved with at that time would not have reflected well on him either...."

I guess I should just be grateful he's got some seniority otherwise it could be worse. I don't understand how the police department could be so understaffed. It's insane! They are running the man ragged! I have half a mind to march down there myself and throw a fit. *tries to not get worked up and sips her latte.*

"Now Psy.....don't go off and do something like that. How would Dougherty feel if he had his girlfriend come to his job and do that? That might not go over well, ya know. And did it ever cross your mind that maybe he's volunteering for the extra hours for some reason? Maybe he wants to buy something and wants to make the money for it by working overtime. Hell, maybe he's saving up for a boat or something."

*Sighs as she realizes Katana is right. No matter how badly she wants to, she just can't go down to the police station and have a fit. stressed * A boat? Why doesn't he just say so. I could find him something quite nice that I'm sure he would like.

She chuckles and looks at Psy.
"Maybe he wants to earn the money himself and pay for it himself. He may not want everything handed to him by his girlfriend on a silver platter just because she's rich and can do it."
She sips her coffee and snickers, "He might think the men he works with would look at him funny if his woman took care of everything like that. He is pretty old school, ya know."

*Sits there for a bit quite puzzled, not quite knowing what to think of that or how to process this information.* But that's what I DO…I take care of things. Why shouldn't he benefit from my good fortune? I would share anything I have with him. *She sighs and sips her latte as it dawns on her about the remodel. She hesitates and starts to second guess herself.* I have been finishing up the remodel of Upper GGG and…well…I've had a room there designed just for him. I've been keeping it a secret and I wanted to surprise him. I remodeled it after and Irish Pub he enjoyed when we were in New York. It's like the ultimate "guys" room and it's almost done. Maybe I shouldn't have. sweatdrop

She smiles at Psy.
"A pub, huh? That sounds great, Psy. But what I'm getting at is this....Dougherty may want to earn his money his way, so that he can do something for YOU on occasion. I know you would share anything with him...we all know that, you've shared so much with all of us. But, he's a man, remember? They don't always see things the way we do. What you see as taking care of, he may see as coddling or being spoiled....and might make him feel less like a man if his girlfriend takes care of his every want and need."
She sips her coffee and gives Psy a grin.
"But I imagine he'll love the little 'man cave' you created for him. It'll be good for him to have his own 'space' there at the estate. An estate that belongs to you, I might add."

*She sighs and sips her latte, not liking this one bit. Here she is caught between wanting to share what she has with him and not interfering or make him feel like she's coddling. stressed * Well where does one draw the line? I just want him to be happy. I don't see how working yourself to the bone and being exhausted could possibly make him happy.

She shrugs and sips her coffee.
"Maybe it gives him a sense of satisfaction to know that all his hard work has paid off? And I'm certainly not saying to stop giving or doing things for him....just maybe don't offer to 'fix' everything for him. Men are funny creatures....they like to be the providers and the problem solvers. wink "
