Naito The only Dr. Who I've ever enjoyed was the one from that 90's movie that first aired on Fox(though now you can occasioanlly see it on Sci-Fi). My sister on the other hand was always a big fan so I got her one of the Dr. Who novels last x-mas. She loved it especially since I remembered to get the book based on her fav version of Dr.Who. I don't know one from the other but it wasn't the scarf one, this one looked younger & his outfit made him look like a cheesy gameshow host. Although the Canadian filmed movie achieved the incredible by casting Eric Roberts as the master it failed in one major department. Dr. Who is intriguing because he is not human. Although he demonstrates some human foibles, one he does not posess is the capacity for romance. The film failed because someone who didn't understand the character demanded a love interest for the Doctor. The new series is much truer to the Dr. although his Eccleston incarnation was racy, he was not interested in his hot assistant in any more than a concerned Uncle sort of way.

Unfortunately, they seem to have decided there was some romantic interest between 10 & Rose. rolleyes There may also be some to come, between 10 & River Song (who calls him "pretty boy" & "sweetie"). A lot of people in the Doctor Who Guild seem to be tired of companions who are in love with the Doctor, though. That's one of the big reasons Donna was liked--she wasn't throwing herself at 10 or mooning over him. Once or twice there's a hint she might think he's good looking, but she just doesn't let their friendship go that way.

That's the main reason I don't like the vast majority of the episodes with the Tenth Doctor.

According to UK's The Sun tabloid, so take it with a pinch of salt: Mr McGann is to return in one of the four feature-length adventures that will tide us over until the series returns. Apparently we finally get a glimpse (presumably flashbacks) of what happened in the Time War and maybe, if we're really lucky, how we got from McGann to Eccleston?
Interested parties should probably drop by the Doctor Who guild - I imagine they'll have far more info than me, as I'm just dropping a line in during my lunch hour.

I like to say that 1) I like Rose, but not when she's together with the Tenth Doctor, and 2) Martha became so much cooler after she left the Doctor (see any episode of Doctor Who or Torchwood where she is not the Tenth Doctor's companion for evidence). I am really going to miss Donna. I am totally excited about the new writing team. I hope the show will continue to progress. I'll admit that I do dread the River Song saga... *facepalm* I hope that they never get around to that story. I should really stop being lazy and join the Doctor Who guild already. >_>

I wish eccleston would have agreed to do the season closer. Then the story line would have made much more sense.
I too am SICK of companions that moon over the doctor. It is okay that they like him, but do we have to see them gushing every second... and does it have to be EVERY ONE? I am GRRRR... I loved Donna, but look what she got for her trouble. I guess only the silly, stupid mooners are the ones that end up with him in the end... until he abandons them.
Donna was an awesome breath of fresh air. But even Riversong moons over him... stupid gay writers and their moody angst comming out in the Doctor's companions! Still I can't b***h about it too much because if it wasn't for RTD there wouldn't even be Doctor Who on the air right now.

Oh my, does this ever bring back memories of staying up late and watching the good Doctor on public television....I remember precious few of the old episodes, but I nearly danced when they brought him back, first in the afore mentioned Fox movie and then in the series, which I've been fairly pleased with, I'm glad i'm not the only one who remembers ^_^

David Tennant is going to do Shakespeare. Isn't that cool? I wish there was a bigger season of Doctor Who, but it's still cool. 3nodding

I liked the concept of Donna, but the hammy acting of Catherine Tate ruined it for me. I couldn't take her seriously as a character (even taking into account the utter tongue in cheek nature of the show).

After losing my ability to watch Doctor Who on TV, I rented the entire 2nd Season and watch that and now I just need the 3rd season I've seen a few from YouTube but not all the episodes are there. So is there any way to watch the episodes that's not youtube?

Boy, I'm glad I found this thread again! There were some nifty posts whilst I was away.

Never a big fan of romance on Doctor Who myself, I was releived to find it mostly being shifted to Torchwood... until I watched the first season of Torchwood and found myself irritated and bored.
Oh well, I still like the Sarah Jane Adventures spin off! I'm really looking forward to the next season, which is rumored to have an appearance by Nicholaus Courtney in his old role as the Brigadier! Whee!
