Kanda let go of his hand when he was up and motioned with his head for Shan to follow. He walked out of the room. He headed to the kitchen, only nodded his head when slaves past by him. When he reached the kitchen, he told the head chef slave to set the table for two and give him double the servings. He sat down at the table when it was set and told Shan to sit next to him with his hand patting the chair.

Shan couldn't help but feel at least a little embarrassed. It was the first time he didn't go to the kitchen to do any work. He wasn't sure about what he should say or do. What embarrassed him the most was that the fellow slaves probably saw him.

The rumor could now be confirmed. Sure, it hadn't been true before, but now it definitely was. In that case, what if the lady that had visited the master became jealous? What would she say then?

"Shan. You going to sit or not?" Kanda asked him as he looked up at Shan and raised an eyebrow. Just then, the food came and a slave laid it down on the table then bowed and left, giving a look to Shan then heading to the kitchen.

He looked at the food and noticed it was his favoorite. Soba noodles with green tea. He sighed then broke his chopsticks and prayed. "Thank you for the food." He said before opening his eyes and beginning to eat. "Better hurry and eat brfore its cold." He said to the boy as he soaked his noodles in the broth and took a bite.

Shan sat down next to the master, not realizing that he had still been standing. He was just so nervous and unsure, since it was his first time dining with the man. Nonetheless, he ate the noodles that had been served to them.

He still couldn't help thinking about the rumors and how they would affect the master. If they had a negative effect, then maybe it was best for him to just live this life like a normal slave rather than the master's probable lover. As long as the man would be okay, then it wouldn't matter to Shan.

After awhile, Kanda finished his food and leaned back itno his chair. A slave came and took the empty dirty dishes and went back to the kitchen aanother cleard the rest of the stuff off the table. He clossed his eyes as they did and just leaned his head back.

After a minute when they were alone again, he opened his eyes and Kanda lifted his head up and looked at Shan. "so..how are you now..?" He asked as he stretched his arms up then skitted his chair back and got up from the table.

"I'm okay, I guess," Shan answered, though very uncomfortably. There was once again that dreaded silence, but he tried not to pay attention to it. It wasn't like silence was going to hurt him in any way, so there was no need to fear.

Shan searched through his mind for an interesting topic for a conversation, but he just came up blank. There was nothing at all that he wanted to talk about, or sometimes a topic that he wanted to discuss seemed a bit offending and so he kept silent. He could only wait for the master to think of something.

"Come." Kanda said as he headed to the study. He stayed in silence until they reached the study and opened the doors. When they were in, he closed the door behind him then sighed.

He sat down on the couch then looked up at the cieling. After a minute, he looked at Shan then motions for him to sit next to him. "Cone here. I..want to learn more about you.." He stated, feeling a bit akward saying the words since he never showed and interest in knowing anyine but Shan was different. At the moment, he wanted ot know eveything about him.

Shan was a little surprised when the master led him to the study. It was really the first time he could go in there without having to fear the man's anger. Maybe things had changed for the better after all.

When the master ordered him to sit next to him, Shan did so. Then he began to think about what the master would want to know about him. There wasn't anything interesting about him. He was only a pacifist son of a violent family. There was nothing interesting about his life based on that.

Kanda waited for Shan to start talking...but it seemed that wasn't going to happen. Did Shan really have nothing to say about himself? That just struck Kanda odd since he basically grew up with stuck up divas all his life.

He looked at Shan with curiousity then tried to think of something to say. "Okay...How..about I ask a question about you and then you answer?"

Shan nodded, a little relieved that he didn't have to start speaking. It seemed as if an interview in which the master asks about specific things was a better idea than Shan picking a random subject from his life. It wasn't like he had anything to say that could possibly best start a conversation anyway.

"Alright..How old are you?" He asked as he looked at Shan. He guessed that the boy was older than 16...but he wanted to make sure. Looks can always be decieving.

"I'm 18," Shan replied almost immediately. He was sure that the master would be surprised. Other people who had asked the same question were either very surprised or merely walked away. It didn't bother him, though. He had always looked younger than his actual age.

In fact, his appearance had somehow managed to help him escape getting caught by the slave men who are people who look for people ages 15 or older that are considered weak. It was a strange custom in this part of the world that weak people are to become slaves, while those who are strong or look strong are left alone. There are many groups who are trying to get rid of that law, but so far they are unsuccessful.

"Your 18?" Kanda said as he raised an eyebrow. That was not what he was expecting. Shan showed like the age of 14. Kanda never would have guessed that age.

"Well thats interesting. Your face is really young..I never would have thoguht that." He said as he ruffled the boy's hair lightly. "What are your hobbies?"

Shan wasn't at all perturbed by the master's surprise, so he just went along to the next question. What were his hobbies? He hadn't done much besides read or stare at animals.

"I just read and look at animals whenever I see them," Shan replied, not wanting to have the master wait too long for the answer. "They aren't normal hobbies, I guess, but I don't do anything else."

"Their fine." Kanda stated as he shrugged. He's heard wierder. "What sort of animals do you like?" Kanda asked as he cracked his knuckles then neck. To him, it relaxed him. Then he looked back at Shana dn waited for an answer.
