The only way to truly defeat a Troll is to beat him/her at his/her own game; successfully troll a Troll, and you will have broken him/her. But in doing so you yourself become a Troll, and the cycle is perpetuated. Edit: To which is the possibility for said Troll to achieve immortality, as no one is willing to make themselves into a Troll for the sake of others.

There is a slim chance that one can resist the urge to troll, but it is nearly impossible as the troll used to take down the Troll will have brought out one's inner Troll.
