Geoff Kizai had had many years to practice hiding his emotions due to questioning with suspects, but all those years failed him now and his surprise showed clearly on his face. "You didn't feel safe at home? You should have told me that you were leaving at least. I was terrified that... that criminal had hurt you somehow."

"Kenichi wouldn't hurt me, his feelings won't let him," Utsuki said. Now he was just plain shocked that he heard the word 'terrified' come from his dad. "Anyway, how could I tell you I was leaving? You would have gotten angry."

Geoff raised his eyebrows. "Of course I would have, Utsuki, and for the exact same reason I am now. There was a dangerous criminal on the loose. One that I found out last week has been stalking you? Why didn't you tell me that at least, Utsuki?"

"Of course I care about you, Utsuki," Geoff growled. "You're my son. Now, what is this you're telling me about that criminal threatening you? If he did anything to you, I will make sure he never gets out of jail."

"Kenichi didn't do anything. Well... not anything bad, at least," Utsuki said, not resisting the urge to defend Kenichi. "All he did was tell me that I would be sorry if I told anyone about the stalking. From the point, he just visited the house, and he managed to get me to go outside for once in my life."

The chief's jaw dropped slightly. "You let him in our house?! Why didn't you report him?! I'm glad he got you to go outside, but Utsuki, he's a criminal. A dangerous one at that."

"I'm pretty sure that Kenichi's record is bad, but don't you think he should have killed me by now if he was a really bad person? Most stalkers, especially one with his kind of record, would have gotten rid of their prey by now."

Geoff's eyes narrowed. "How long has he been stalking you, Utsuk," he demanded, voice terribly low and demanding a direct, straight answer.

Utsuki couldn't help being worried, but he didn't really have a choice. He was going to have to wait for his dad to run out of topics before bringing up his own concern.

Chief Kizai sighed when he looked up and Utsuki was still standing there. "Utsuki, do you need something else," he asked, obviously trying to remain patient.
