If I get my own Digimon finished (I'm in the process of designing one) and posted up somewhere for mod approval, can I use it instead of one already listed? I'll share mine with the others too.

If you check the main forum area you'll find the Digimon list. Check that to see what Digimon you can select. As far as I know however, you won't be allowed to use a Digimon that doesn't have an official DMA page.

Check this for what you can use and check the list to see if you can get a match.

hey Akuma, welcome DTI, anyway just to let you know Nyaromon is a limited Digimon which means you can't select it as your starter please check this list for another one http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=10823311 but anything tagged limited,restricted or special can't be chosen as your starting Fresh,in training or rookie digimon

Welcome to DTI!!! Heres your new partner, Chibomon. Let me introduce you to him/her.

This is a small, blue dragon Digimon of the Baby level. Although he seems small and weak, he hides the chances to evolve into a random Digimon of the Dragon type. Therefore, this draconic Digimon has proven to be quite valuable amongst Tamers and researchers alike. Unlike other Baby-leveled Digimon, Chibomon is highly curious and open-hearted. Like other Baby-leveled Digimon, however, he remains powerless, but can spit out acidic bubbles to fend off his enemies. (Chibo is a mispelling of Chico, which means small boy.)
Common Attacks: Acid Bubbles / Bubble Blow.
