Allow me to explain.
It's simple, even with Summertime in play, Ichigo didn't have enough MP to pull of Goburimon and as it's been established before hand, you have to have the mp to use the card before you defend to gain mp.
Turn order:
Passive effect (summertime, etc.) --> Card Effect (Goburimon)--> Tamer action (defend)...
He lacked the mp at the start sweatdrop
Good match to both though 3nodding

Good match to both though 3nodding Yeah, Ichigo had made a previous move, in which he didn't use a card, so I made my final move. Afterwards, he edited his move, asking if it was possible for him to do it, which it wasn't. See Liger's post for why it wasn't possible.
