Seeing the annoyed look on Dustynn's face, Olan had to look away. He nodded, however, to show that he understood. It seemed that he kept forgetting that the gang leader had feelings for him, something that he still had yet to understand why exactly.
Somuka merely shrugged at the mention of a second nature. "Well, it's not like it'll be needed, but this being something like a 'second nature' doesn't seem so bad," she said. She had no need for any skill in gambling games, but it still wouldn't hurt to just learn.

Demitri looked up and smiled at the lighter spirit. "Having gambling and such as a second nature is a good thing. Whatever should happen if somebody decides to threaten Olan's life? You'd have to bargain and gamble your way out of the situation. Even giving in is bargaining." The darker spirit explained, dealing the cards again. She looked at her cards. Eight. Crap, she'd have to hit.
Dustynn plainly stared at the younger boy. "Me quitterez-vous, s'il vous plaƮt [Will you go out with me, please]?" He asked in plain French. There was only one place in town that anybody on a hit list could walk around and not get caught. And in fact, it was decently flattering.

"Hm... Yeah, you do have a point," Somuka agreed. "Looks like gambling does have a good side to it after all." She looked at her cards once Demitri did. It was sixteen. It looked like quite a high number, and it didn't seem to be worth hitting. Maybe she should stand.
Olan tilted his head a little in confusion. Apparently, Dustynn had spoken a different language, and according to the tone it seemed quite questioning. He wasn't sure how to answer, since he didn't know what the question was. Should he nod? Should he shake his head? Or maybe he should send a thought to Dustynn telling him that he didn't know?

Demitri looked up from her cards, glaring at her brother's back. "Now, now, Dustynn. Be nice and speak in English." She said, then turned back towards Somuka and the cards. "Hittin' or standing?" She asked, tapping the top card of the deck.
Dustynn did not turn around to look at his sister. Instead, he just smiled and repeated his question in english. "Will you go out with me?"

Replacing the confusion was now a sense of conflict. Olan wasn't exactly sure what how he was supposed to answer. The question just seemed... odd to ask at a time like this.
"Stand," Somuka replied, though most of her attention was focused on what was going on between the two boys. She could sense her brother's uneasiness and she was anticipating his answer. To her, this is practically a chance to see something positive and interesting.

Dustynn just smiled and stood up. "I knew it. Never mind then, it's not very important." He stated plainly, then walked out of the room. He wasn't heartbroken at all or anything, really. He knew the question was inappropriate and out of his league.
Demitri watched her brother walk out of the room, but plainly ignored him. She knew that he knew that he wasn't going to get a favorable answer out of Olan anytime soon. When Somuka gave her her answer, Demitri flipped her second card over, exposing the five which gave her eight. "Below seventeen, dealer hits." She muttered. An ace popped up. She decided to take it as a one and hit again. This time, another ace popped up. Two aces? In a row? Well, the rules did state that you could not use an ace for the same number twice, so she tossed her cards in. "I bust, you win."

Olan felt a little guilty for not answering, and just crawled back under the covers. He had suddenly felt tired and just wanted to sleep, probably until the next day. It didn't seem like anything else was going to happen today, so why not rest until tomorrow?
Somuka, disappointed, turned her attention back to the game. "So, 21 sounds like a game of chance, right?" she asked. After all, most gambling games had either to do with chance or strategy. This game, however, had mostly matters of chance in which one player wouldn't know what card they will get until they get it.

Demitri smirked and took away the cards, picking them up and setting them aside as she dealt the next hand. "Chance, huh? Lots of women play 21 because they have 'Lady's Luck'. Whatever, I don't believe in that hocus pocus. Before I died my dad was teaching me to count cards, which really is like cheating. You know what card is coming out next." She said quietly, flipping one card over as the dealer always does. A king showed its face to the two girls.
Stealthily, Demitri took a peek underneath her hand. A queen looked back at her. Perfect, she was sure that his time she wasn't going to lose.

"I don't really believe in luck either," Somuka said. "I tend to think about it all as a coincidence or just chance." It seemed nice to have a conversation with someone, though that person was the exact opposite of herself. It wasn't all that bad, though. Every individual was different, so she told herself.

"Chance falls under the definition of Luck." Demitri immediately corrected. But she she was ashamed afterward. She had been a walking dictionary when she was still alive. Not something nice to be called at school, but that's how it was. And she had let her old reflex get the best of her again. "Sorry... reflex... you know?

"Don't worry about it," Somuka replied. "Everybody has reflexes. You don't have to be ashamed about it." She herself had a reflex as well, and it was most likely more weird than a simple word correction. "Would you like to know what my reflex is?"
Olan listened to the conversation, though it was slightly muffled through the sheets. Still, he could tell that they were talking about something they called reflexes. He actually thought of that as an instinctual reaction, though it kinda meant the same thing. In other words, he'd rather call reflexes 'instinctual reaction'.

"Does it involve hurting somebody?" Demitri guessed. She loved guessing games. Even though she wasn't good and nowhere near the best, she had always loved guessing games. She could remember when Dustynn and she had been playing such a game with her mother one day. It was amazing how good at guessing her brother was. He guessed everything right.

"Yes, yes it does," Somuka replied, grinning. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Somuka can hurt people. "Usually, every time I get insulted or somebody says something bad about Olan, I whack a punch or slap to the offender's face." Not everyone can really be pure, and she had to be able to protect her little brother when she was alive.
As he listened, Olan couldn't help but giggle silently. When he was a child, he had always laughed when Somuka let out a punch or so. It wasn't really the inflicting pain that made him laugh, but the surprised face that the victim made. It was as if the person thought Somu had been taken over by a demon.

Demitri nodded her head, glad that she had finally guessed right. "Mm, Dustynn is like that. I remember one time when some older kids from my school were bullying me. Dustynn just popped out of nowhere and began fighting with every single one of them. The principal came and my brother got in trouble... and well..." Demitri suddenly grew quiet, remembering what had happened after that. "...It wasn't a very happy ending."
Dustynn walked all the way down the stairs, noticing that Kaisin was sitting in the living room with Marissa and Dylan and Michael. "I'm only guessing that it's bad news." The gang leader murmured, which turned all the heads in the room. "How'z Olan doing?" Marissa changed the subject, knowing that the boy was now presently mute.

Somuka let her grin expand just a little, and she was sure that she looked like a little girl who just got a lollypop. "Oh, the consequences of violence," she said in a mock sympathetic voice. "Poor defender being punishd for trying to protect another." After a moment, she decided to cut the act. "Anyway, so what happened to the bullies? Didn't they get in trouble at all?"
Olan now crawled out of the sheets and sat next to his sister just to listen to the conversation. He had nothing better to do and he just couldn't sleep. As much as he would like to add his own thoughts into the conversation, he can't say much unless the spirits decide to let him join.
