Demitri gave two cards to Somuka, looking at her with a blank mask set on her face. "Don't tell me what you have now. It's a secret." The darker girl reminded the lighter, looking up and smiling emotionlessly.
Dustynn finally stepped out of the closet. Kaisin had burned Lorin to ashes, right? No way that Lorin would be able to live through that. Unless, however, Kaisin was lying and did not burn the ashes of his twin. "Kai." The gang leader called out, looking down at his right-hand man. The member looked up. "Where exactly did you scatter Lorin's remains?"

Olan couldn't help but feel that something was wrong, but he didn't want to tell Somuka or Demitri-san, since he didn't want to interrupt their game. Deciding that he just couldn't pass time thinking or sleeping, he crawled out from under the sheets and sat next to his sister to watch the game. By then he felt more comfortable, since his sister's mere presence could chase away his fears.

"Hit or stand?" Demitri asked, but then the door burst open and Dustynn walked in. "Ah! Nii-san! Perfect timing, want to play?" She asked, but the purple haired boy had other things on his mind. He walked over to his window and looked out. A bright red flare went up a few blocks down, and a small beeping sound was heard from the boy's hip.
"I saw it.... okay... Got it." Dustynn muttered into the walkie-talkie. Then he turned around and glared at his sister. "Onee-san... 21?" He hissed. Demitri just smirked and nodded, tossing him two cards pressed together so that nobody could see what he had. The boy caught it and looked down. A king and an ace. 21.

When Dustynn entered the room, Olan scrambled back under the sheets, not wanting to talk to him for now. It wasn't that he was angry at him or anything. Actually, he just didn't feel like talking to the gang leader. It was just a feeling and nothing more.
Olan heard Dustynn mutter about seeing something, but he didn't try to ask. For all he knew, the gang leader wouldn't hear his thoughts and he didn't want to mouth any words. Dustynn probably already had enough on his schedule and probably didn't need to answer any questions.

"You should learn, Demitri, that I have grown quite lucky since the last time we played." The purple haired boy growled, tossing the cards face-up on the ground. The ace and the king shown plainly that he had won. Unless, somebody else had something better. "Somuka-sama, what do you have?" He asked, completely out of politeness.
Upon seeing the lump on his bed, Dustynn walked over to it and knelt down. "Olan, come on out." He whispered quietly, his eyes turning a misty tint.

Somuka just showed her cards. "Fifteen," she said, and then she looked at Olan, who had merely shaken his head. It was a little hard to tell, since he was hiding, but she could see that the movement wasn't a nod. He seemed a bit afraid of something, but he wasn't thinking any thoughts.
Olan knew he was once again disobeying, this time on his own will, but he just didn't want to listen. He was already aware of the gang leader's presence being next to him, and now he was shaking a little, making a little note in his mind to expect an unwanted reaction.

"...Olan..." Dustynn whispered, his voice taking on a tone that dark spirits like his sister could use. It was a tempting voice, used for those who are less than willing to comply. "Come out. I'm not mad, don't worry." The gang leader said.
Demitri hissed when she saw the cards, incredibly pissed off that she had lost to her brother. She was sure that the twenty was going to win her something. Then the voice she heard coming from his throat frightened her, even her! Someone who used that voice so many times to tempt him into giving in, the same one who used that voice to make mortals obey... how could he use that voice? How could she be afraid of her own voice?

A bit relieved, but at the same time skeptical, Olan peeked his head out from under the covers. The tone of voice that Dustynn used scared him, which is why he peeked out. If he had a choice, he would just keep his head under and pretend to be asleep.
'I'm sorry,' Olan thought, though he wasn't sure if Dustynn could hear. He wouldn't expect it, but he also wouldn't be surprised if the thoughts actually reached him. Either way, it wasn't really important. Nothing that was going on was really important at this moment, or at least in Olan's case.

Dustynn blinked for a moment and smiled, lightly kissing the younger boy on the forehead. "That's alright. Don't be sorry." He whispered quietly, his voice losing the edge that it had earlier. "Just... don't do that again, alright? Lorin may have turned his weapon on you instead, then what?"

'I didn't know what happened that time,' Olan thought, still feeling guilty. 'I really wanted to listen. I just don't know why I stayed there. Maybe it's because I was worried about what would happen to you.' He turned his head away and stared at the window since he was still ashamed.
He felt very much like a threatened turtle, but there was no threat. Olan was just full of regrets and he wanted to disappear right then. His thoughts then would be for Dustynn to leave him alone or something, but there was no reason to think those words.

Dustynn smiled plainly, smirking as he pulled Olan out from under the covers out more. "Olan, it was more dangerous for me if you stayed there, do you realize that?" He asked, lightly stroking his head. "I don't mean to lecture you, but this is how things work on the wrong side of the tracks."
With a sigh of relief, Demitri turned back to her game. She no longer wanted Dustynn to play, since she would probably lose to another instant 21. "Well, Somuka, my light-spirit-opposite-of-me-friend. Would you like to continue?" The darker spirit asked.

Somuka, after watching the two boys for a while, looked back at Demitri. "Sure, no problem," she said. "So, you're gonna shuffle the cards?" She was aware of some relief, but she didn't question about it. Any question concerning that air might ruin the gaming mood.
At being pulled out, Olan wanted to hide once again, but he didn't in fear of angering Dustynn. 'I don't mind the lecturing, really,' he thought to the gang leader. 'I just didn't realize my presence was dangerous.' He had already been aware that Dustynn was concerned for him, and for a strange reason he was glad.

Demitri just shook her head as she removed the cards spread out on the floor already. "Shuffling the cards isn't how you do it in Vegas. You just push the cards to the side that you've already used, then reshuffle once you have run out of cards." The dark spirit explained patiently, remembering how she had tried to teach Dustynn how to play Texas Hold'em. Took forever and a day.
"Olan, I'm not going to lecture you. I can't lecture to save my life." Dustynn smiled quietly. "But you're my weakness. If you get hurt, then that hurts me too. The rest of the gang knows this. They just have to threaten you and they have me wrapped around their finger. I'll bend over backwards for you." Dustynn said calmly, as if explaining a complicated trigonometry problem to a ten-year-old.

"Oh, so that's how it goes," Somuka said, feeling a bit like a child learning something at school. It seems a bit reasonable, though. Demitri looks like she's older, and she probably was if she is older than seventeen in human years. If she isn't as old as seventeen, then maybe it's just Somuka's inexperience of gambling games.
'Oh, I see,' Olan thought afte rhe heard Dustynn's explanation. 'But why did I have to be your weakness? It'll only make it easier for your gang to control you if any of them wanted to. You already know that I can't protect myself or anyone, so why me?' He was also very sure that not every member of the gang liked Dustynn as their gang leader, which may create thoughts of mutiny.

Demitri just smiled, slightly in her off-kindness way. "It's okay if you don't understand it yet. If we play more, it'll become almost second nature." She said quietly, using the same voice she had used when Dustynn had been found crying in his room after their father nearly destroyed him. Even though she was her father's daughter, she really couldn't forgive him for that.
Dustynn gave a low, exaggerated sigh. Olan still didn't understand yet? "Olan, how many times must I say it?" He hissed, glaring at the younger boy with his obsidian pupils. "I. Love. You."
