Not really. Barley's an important ingredient in the old family recipe stew.

I kind of want to play this favourite food game.

Hmmm.... My problem is I'm a total foodie, so there's a lot to choose from. A quick three from Celeblin's favs would be (in dish form) Potato and Leek Soup with Chicken and Onion pie (with sage or tarragon), Beef Cheek Ravioli with Demi Glace as the main ingredient in the sauce and Pad Thai, though it's probably a westernised version thereof. Though I haven't met a Pad Thai I haven't liked.

I recommend an Oolong with these, something that has a bit of personality to stand up to the onion-flavors, but not so strong it will overwhelm the creaminess. Perhaps a Red Jacket Oolong.

A lapsang Shooshong for this one. It has a bit of a smokey peppery bite to it.

Hmm... Chicken in sweet chili sauce, served with plain rice, I'd say. 3nodding

Then I'd go for a light brewing of a nice Ceylon black, preferably one that has notes of caramel and orange.

Wonderful! Thanks! 4laugh

Now I'll just have to find that sort of tea to try it, but if my memory doesn't fail me, there should be a nice little shop somewhere that claims to have the best tea selection of the town. I'll have to check if that's true...

If a tea pouch says 'whole tea leaf pouch,' does that mean it's not floor sweepings? I just got a bunch of pouches from my mother and a few of them say this.

I want to play the favorite food game, too! Mine is broccoli. Steamed. Seasonings optional. To make a meal of it, I suppose a medium-rare steak and red skin, mashed potatoes. But it's all about the broccoli.

Open the bag. If a brewed leaf isn't a whole leaf, then the answer is no.

My bet is that this is one of those "artisan" tea bags. Which suffers from the same problem of all the others while charging you three times as much.

Again, a bold set of flavors centered around the savory side of things.

That said, I think a Bancha would add a further savory aspect while allowing it's inherent ocean-air qualities to complement the broccoli while standing up to the body of the steak.

Oooh! I want to try!

I love lasagnes, spaghetti bolognaise and similar.
My favourite base foods are pasta, parsnip and custard. ninja
