One of the few rap/hip hop videos I like. Mostly because it tells a story. it's not about clubs, bitches, or cash. 3nodding

You find a lot of that when you look outside the mainstream. 3nodding I think rappers do that sort of thing in their ballads (if you can call their performances ballads -- I doubt it myself) for the same reason that Kelly Clarkson won't seem to shut up about her million cheating boyfriends -- because it sells. For some strange reason, people will buy their records for precisely the same reason that others will hate them -- that's true about many genres of music. I can't tell you about how many country songs I've heard about people drinking themselves to sleep or putting shotguns in their mouths over girls that left them; you could take the lyrics from those songs and immerse them in different backdrops, and re-badge them as emo songs. XD
