Nah, not really. But i get called emo for listening to them. emo

yeah, same here. plus it doesn't help that i dyed my hair black, wear eyeliner, and oftentimes wear black. But whatever, if people have a problem with what we listen to or wear that's their problem; not ours! 3nodding

Hello? I think the world just died here.
I was categorized as "emo" last year, and still this year because.
1. I listened to My Chem, who are definately NOT emo.
2. I wore Converse.
3. I wore black clothing.
4. I wore black nail polish.
5. I was rather depressed all the time.
But then, this is all stereotypical. And even if My Chem do things that are listed above, they aren't "emo".
That word died a long time ago. It's extinct. Nada. People need to accept it. But if they can't, ******** them.
They sing songs about death. Oh yes. Death. Most people just stereotype them as just sad, little nothing, depressed people. They don't listen to the lyrics, or even to the melodies. They watch them instead. If they do listen, properly, they'll understand why they are called "The Saviors of the Broken, the Beaten, and the Damned." They saved my friends life, and mine. I'm not gonna take in some "emo" stereotype s**t and let them have it.
Wow, that was long.
I can rant on for hours and hours just about this.
God, I hate people who are so prejudiced.

Colors are awesme, and I'm a rather perky person most of the time. Known as the school optimist. But I appreciate black as being the ultimate color for fashion. It will never go out of style! And it's the perfect base for like any outfit.

I usually do black eyeliner and then pink eyeshadow with glitter.

I also have my black nail polish that also has glitter in it.

Glitter is one of the strongest forces known to man 3nodding

They're not emo, they're pop rock.
"Emo" was never intended to be a lifestyle, it just stands for a completly different music genre.

Haha naa i don't think mcr are emo, awesome topic by the way razz i'd say mcr are more punk/rock/horror like in the style of the misfits but more rock and less punk. I think there are 2 main like separations of emo, the old style which i think is emo with bands like...sunny day real estate, the promise ring, mineral etc, and then there's the new emo that MTV has created where they use it as a swooping term to talk about bands with emotional lyrics or whatever that are kinda this metal/screamo breed of band razz hehe. But yer, my conclusion is NO ^____^ mcr aren't emo, although a lot of misled people would say they were. Take care any readers of my little message razz cya!!

No way they're emo...They're just not. Some of the songs are on the sadder side most of them aren't. Besides every artist has an I Don't Love You or Early Sunsets Over Monroeville, so does that mean they're all emo? No.

If they are "emo", then they are "emo".

Do I think of them as "emo"?

No.

Do I care if others think of them as "emo"?

Yes.

But would I seriously care if MCR ever became "emo"?

Probably not.

Why?

Because MCR will forever be MCR.

Do I think MCR are emo?

Definitely not.

And even if they were, they'd still be the awesome band that they are.

When asked about what musical genre MCR are, I usually stick to rock, alternative rock, and the such.

The way I see it, 'emo' is emotive hardcore is a music genre, not a tag for people that look a certain way or act a certain way.

What really bothers me about it is being coined 'emo' for all the usual stereotypes. God forbid I love the color black [and blue xp ] or wear a lot of eye makeup. As if that's 'emo' to begin with. I used to think black and eyeliner and the such were also associated with some rock music in general. Or perhaps, personal taste. But, as it seems, I'm totally wrong in that area. At least according to anyone that thinks I'm 'emo'.

Anyway, I'm straying away in my head. Sorry bout that.. Back to the point.

NO, MCR are NOT 'emo'.

Its not like emo is a bad thing. I don't consider MCR to be emo, but I can see how others may get an impression that they are.

I'm an emo in regular clothes (H&M, Bluenotes, Smartset, Jacob's) and I'm totally at peace with that.

Emo is not a "style", it's more than kids dressed in dark and cutting themselves. Those kids are not emo, they need help. Besides, their giving emo a bad reputation.

Emo is an actual characteristic, it's a personality. To me its a term for people who are a little cynical and depressed, with a little dash of angst and sick humour.

I know emo isn't a bad thing. I just hate how they call people 'emo' only based on inaccurate stereotypical qualities, y'know?

And I'm actually glad to get the perspective of someone who is really emo on what it is without the stereotype.

Thanks.

Sure, anytime. And I understand what you mean. I get a little twitch too when I hear people say their emo. But you know... what can you do?

This world is "trendy".
When 'Emo' was trendy (Though it still kinda is) absolute everything was emo, and everyone basically thought it is cool to be an stero-typical, tight black jeans and band shirt 'Emo'.
Black shirts = Emo.
Black nail polish = Emo.
Long hair bangs that covered your eye(s) = Emo.
Bands that sing about heart break and what-not = Emo.
Plastic thick rimmed glasses = Emo.
Emos = (Stero-typically) Emotionally harmed people that cut their wrists and think having depression is "cool".
I think its all just ******** up, pressuming a band/person that wears black or has black hair is automaticlly Emo.
And whats more ******** up is people believe such bands like My Chemical Romance are 'Emo'.
Some teenie boopers that once wore pink and thought Hilary Duff was cool started to wear black and say My Chemical Romance was the ultimate Emo band.
There's really no point in my rant.
Just stating everything is Emo.
But really, its a matter of self opinion if My Chemical Romance is 'Emo'.
