Man fears what he does not understand. Most people who hate Yaoi, fear it. Just because they can't see past the smut to the actual relationships. Take Pandect. Yes, there's usually a bit of smut when you get Edgar and Noah together BUT you also learn alot about their characters and, the way their relationship is developing is intriguing to say the least. Most of the people associate who associate Yaoi with porn/hentai are associating it with mainstream porn. (Which is a lot of smut between completely flat character with only enough plot to get them from one sex scene to the next.) Hence, why much of what gets published is like that. (The ones publishing the crap aren't the ones reading the Yaoi.) But good yaoi is like Queer as Folk. A little smut and alot of character and plot.

As to the feminine guys thing. That ties back to homophobic stereotypes of old. The ridiculous thought that there HAS to be one "feminine" character and one 'masculine' character in the couple. This stereotype also gets applied to lesbian couples. Howeven, like I said, that stereotype is both ridiculous and outdated. But you'll always get those people that are too stupid to shut up until they've actually checked something out.

If you love Yaoi and love to draw unique and intriguing mangas, go for it. And post a link. I'd love to check your work out. And I won't flame. Flaming is for the weak and small-minded.

but yeah, i hate it how some guys act just like girls, butbut, if you think about it, most gays in real life act more along the lines of girls than guys. (NOT making fun of, or anything of the sort. it's nice for a change of pace ^_^)

O whole heartedly agree with For-Chan Cookie. The problem is that fangirls are squeeing over mediocre work and companies are learning that crap sells better than art--and it's usually cheaper too. Everyone is to blame.

The publishing companies only wish to appease the masses who will stand for trash.

the sad fact is we will most likely always get steriotypes.

and as for haters,well as long as most the world remains homophobic they will be there to.

The best thing to do is not let it get to us.

plus we always have the yaoi classics like level c, ai no kusabi and kizuna we can always watch.

and there are a few good manga's sdtill out there, including Earthian, Gravitation ex and loveless to read, plus gakuen heaven and man's best friend.

So people who say all this steriotypical crap are speaking out there a** so to speak.
