It's about alcohol, because Gerard stated that it was about his drinking problem.

'Give me a shot to remember and you can take all the pain away from me' I think he's talking about killing himself. Like if you are emotionally hurting or physicly, (sp?) killing your self with a gunshot in the head takes the pain away, when your dead you feel nothing.

Hmm. When I first listened to the song, I thought he was talking about getting shot. A gun. But after reading some of these posts... I guess he really was talking about alcohol. It makes sense, because at the begining, the lyrics go, 'I've spent the night dancing, I'm drunk I suppose.' ~3

I vote drink, probably for the first part talking about his drunken antics,a and the chorus about having been on a bender and stuff.
I guess it doesn't really matter - the same self-destruction idea's being projected either way.

I'm guessing needle or gun, because the people holding the gun kills someone with the gun, "And you can take all the pain away from me," Hint hint: die. And Needle because of the same line because, drugs can take the pain away from some people but not dieing maybe because of the verse, "The sharpest lives are the deadliest to led." Maybe they mean sharp like a needle! razz
