lurichan This is fun little thread to talk about what weapons you have or would like to have one day. ^_^ I Have a short sword, a long dagger, and a normal dagger so far. My BF has more....but I'll let him post about that. 3nodding So what weapons do you usually have on you, and do you know how to use them effectively? ...If you wish it so. I have a naginata- the type of spear japanese women used to defend their homes, not the 9' long cowardly weapons the samurai used, a well-cared for footman's warhammer, a self-forged handaxe, a shortsword of African/Brazilian make, once belonging to an accomplished warrior(and human-blooded) which belonged to lurichan's departed grandfather and which I tend with reverence, and my greatest honor; a sweeping, single-edged 3,000 fold damascus shortsword with tapered "I" crossguard and circular pommel of brass, lurichan's symbol etched thereon, dedicated to the defense of her honor, diligently and excrutiatingly crafted by myself. I am well-versed in the use of all melee weaponry, though I admit to being most proficient with shortswords.

Veruniel ceilisidhe You can never get the scent of old blood out of a blade - a chemical reaction of the iron in the blood, the ferrous blade(which is filled with the tiniest pock-marks from forging) and the oils used to clean and polish. The thing is, I'm not convinced it was ever used. It's supposed to be a ceremonial blade, so it's unlikely that it would have seen any fighting. Then again, I rather like the old blood smell. It lends it a certain mystique. If it ever has wounded someone, I suppose that makes its story more interesting...
A Cossack was only believed to be a man when his blood had been shed, so maybe that was the ceremony it was used in? A blooded blade does make for an interesting tale...
