I've only heard "Miss Murder" by AFI, and I LOVE IT! And I haven't heard many MCR songs ("The Black Parade," "Cancer," "I'm Not Okay," "Helena," and one more that I forget the name of), but I've loved the ones I have heard. I want an MCR CD, and my friend's gonna make me a copy of "The Black Parade" if she ever remembers.
I'm not a fan of actual goth music. I said this in another thread. One of the reasons I don't call myself goth (I might say I'm gothish, but not actually goth) is because none of the bands I listen to are goth.

There's nothing about MCR that really grasps me... but...
AFI and H.I.M. just completely take me. I don't know there's just something about their music that really holds me. I love both of them! FWHEE!

Raven Halliwell SarahArden GilAskan HIM AFI MCR .... .... .... FOB SOM L&R ICP LOL xp LOL C&C I can think of double lettered ones too SP PR LP GD GC COF LOG SatB ASL and my favorite acronyms: SSDD BS In any case, in response to this thread, I've only listened to MCR out of those three... and only "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)", "Helena", and "Welcome to the Black Parade" beyond that, I know little of MCR, and even less of HIM or AFI

MCR is okay, and I guess AFI's old stuff isn't horrible.
I do want to point out that absolutely none of these bands are Goth, though.
In fact, none of the bands listed in this entire thread are the least bit Goth.
Not that it isn't fine for you to like it, but I wanted to point that out, as you mentioned them selling "Goth" to the mainstream or something.
