ShadowedMoonlight Rio Ri Drakon_Luther I'm glade people actually noticed that. It even goes back further then that in other culturers around the world. Homosexual relationships such as the 'shudo' have existed probably sense the time of Babylon. I know it did in Egyptian and Greek times. And Romans. XD I read this book about sexuality through the ages or some such title and it was full of stuff on ancient cultures and homosexuality. That sounds like a very interesting book. And sexy. *lol*

Never knew about Japanese Samurais! o_o
I knew about the Greeks, of course. xd I once found this book entitled "Greek Homosexuality" in my dad's library, and naturally, I couldn't resist flipping through it. rofl
The text was really complicated with ancient Greek words, but the pictures! eek I didn't know they painted scenes like that on their vases! They didn't show those vases in my History book! scream Only vases with mythological scenes and whatnot.
Anyways, on these vases are scenes of men doing it with each other... In groups sometimes! eek And other vases with scenes of men touching each other, which apparently, was "courting". xd

Maybe because it was in your school library, mines the same. A lot of books on Greece and not one peep about those flaming men from Athens.XP Though we did watch a video in class about Greece and it did breifly mention it.

Ah you see, my teacher did not hide Yaoi in ancient Greece from my class.
In Athens, especially, she told us that the government and military actually incuraged male relationships within the ranks. If a man had relations with whomever was fighting next to him, then he would be less likely to break ranks. Besides, back then most men were forced into the military, and had to sneak off to go find a woman. Men were just handier, so it was a natural thing to happen.
Honestly, homosexuality has never been a foreign concept, and it truly is a closed minded, and irrational way to suddenly make it appear so wrong. Just because its not about procreation doesn't mean its a sin.

Homosexuality is not only rich in Japanese history. Tutso mentioned Greece above me. Young boys were thought of as ideal forms of beauty in Greek thought, which is why all Ancient Greeks would be branded as ***** in modern times! xd
There's something else that I am trying to remember... Oh, it's still not coming back to me.

I want to learn more about homosexuality and bisexuality in ancient Egypt and Greece, but an annoying amount of documentaries totally avoid the subject. stare The books in the local public library are also rather lacking. If I ever get the chance I'm going to bring up homosexuality in history discussions. xd Sadly my school doesn't offer a history course.

I remember reading in a sex ed book about Greeks in a section about homosexuality and heterosexuality. Luckily the book seemed to have a very open-minded view about the subject. (My parent's didn't really give me The Talk, they just gave me the book and said if I had any questions I can ask XD) Anyway, apparently they used to encourage homosexual relationships between men in the military! Go figure. No "don't ask, don't tell" there, eh? Tch. But movin' right along. They'd place one partner in the relationship on one side of the battlefield and one on the other side so they would be encouraged to fight at thier best to impress thier partners. A little cruel, really, but it musta been one heck of a motivator.
