She had figured it was probably part of the were junk, the wanting to go and see and whatever. So Preacher went, although she packed up her tent neatly beforehand. She'd maybe have a place soon, fingers crossed, but not yet. The forest changed a bit as she walked, and Preacher no longer recognized it. Other people stood around her and that was right ********' weird, too. Mercer was over there, n' Zac, and other familiar faces from around town.
There was a hole. A rift, or whatever. It had stars in it and that was also pretty weird. Even stranger was the person standing across the chasm. Sunny. She looked kind of.. creepy, Preacher thought, but she shrugged.
"HI, SUNNY!" Preacher yelled out cheerily, cupping her hands around her mouth. Her sense of reading the mood has always been abysmal, especially when concerned with spooky s**t. "WHATCHA DOIN'?" This was then punctuated by a wild waving of her arms. Preacher was short and easy to miss.

"I'm good enough to be out here." Alexis' voice was -- less emotional than it'd been. "To answer your question -- no. Dunno if I'll be for a while." They cracked a weary smile at him, pushing a stray flyaway wisp of hair back behind their ear. "But I get where you're coming from. 's...hard to be what you were."
And then they were quiet for the walk through the woods, surprisingly contemplative, and didn't quite look Rabbit in the eye. They looked guilty.
(Upon seeing Sunny, their smile flattened out into a thin line, leftover rainwater coalescing from the surrounding area to circle their feet like it was a living being. They didn't want to threaten, but she made them uneasy, and they -- they couldn't quite control this, yet.)

"Watch what," Ashton inquires, polite as always, subtle and small. She's still in her costume -- her skin pale, an elegant faux-tux, white streaks in her hair and a touch of tooth-black to make her look fangier. (She doesn't want to speak yet, to tip her hand any more than this -- this is unfamiliar. It burns. It knows.)

Offering the others a wave and a subdued smile and How do? to several familiar faces, America walked along with the group, excited and pensive and watchful. Mr. Bitterberry pops his head out of her pocket to greet Leila but otherwise stays put, his small body shivering as he hunkers down.
There is magic and it is real and America has known this, but across the strange rift is magic as a revelation, wild and strange and familiar. There is magic and it is real and it is Sunny.
It’s beautiful, compelling to the pieces America's shut away more and more without an endless desert at her feet, a swamp rising to breathe hungry life into every moment. But even so, the sight of Sunny inspires a thrill of fear, a crackle of tension.
"Hey, Sunny," America finally manages to call in greeting, "You okay, hun?"

Drawing in a deep breath, Shun kept his gaze locked upon Sunny for now, not sure what she was going to do. If she was going to do anything even. Others had gone up to question her, but he remained silent, and instead just answered his boss.
"Agreed."
Letting out a breath, a flash of pink hair caught the corner of his eyes. He glanced over briefly to see Chel wandering in. Of course. And Jack was here as well.
"The cage is broken. It held the enemy in place, as well as us, but... "
Whatever was going on, he was partially to blame. Whatever was about to happen, he was going to need to make sure he did his damnest to fix things. If he even could. He was going to need to try regardless.
Failure was not an option.

Chester lurched forward, sure that he felt a second call, but it was only a pleasant young woman in a witch's costume brushing his side.
"It's not a problem," he said, nodding in greeting as he continued forward, encouraged by the movement of the crowd and the call that hadn't ceased. He stopped in his tracks again when he saw Sunny, only barely recognizable as one of the people who Knew Things at the ball. Now she was feral and terrifying, asking them if they'd come to watch. Watch what? A hole in the ground full of stars? He wanted to turn around and go home, but Professor Mercer and Jeremiah were here, which meant safety, and he couldn't bring himself to move anyway.
"You're seeing this as well?" he asked the one who had bumped him, staring at Sunny as if he expected her to jump. At him, into the chasm, whichever she chose, it wouldn't be a surprise.

Connor had been busy. Too busy, really. It felt like ages since he had a day off, or even a night for that matter. He'd barely spoken to anybody outside of work in what might have been weeks, between that and learning about what he was and what to do about it...there just wasn't the time, or even the compulsion, to do so.
But tonight he was being pulled. Summoned seemed more accurate. While he was loathe to answer that call, he found that he simply could not ignore it, and though Peeble's whined at him urgently as he got ready to head out the door, all he could do was apologize to the canine, and tell her that she couldn't come. He wasn't in control of his warg powers yet. He didn't want her to come to harm.
He hoped he was making the right choice, leaving her at home.
The forest was the last place he really wanted to be, but anywhere but back at his apartment fell pretty low on his list. He followed the winding trail, deeper inside, catching glimpses of others, familiar faces and familiar voices. Catching up with them, he made his way towards his usual group, looking tired, a hand reaching up to rub at a stubble covered jaw. His gaze flickered to Sunny, before he turned toward's Temperance.
"A hole in the world?" He asked, eyebrows rising. "Wow, I must really be out of the ******** loop."

"Held us?" Jack parroted with a frown, perplexed. Did that have to do with the sudden development of apparent magic he had, and the dreams as well? God damn school and his work ate his time up; he needed to actually find time to ask all the questions he still had.
For now, he had to take it slow.
"Usual magic bullshit," he told Chel as he let his camera hang once more, shivering slightly as the rain bled through to his skin. "If I recall, you left me somewhere past midnight with some hot zombie bride and didn't come back. Sorry I didn't stick around to wait 'til dawn."
Leave it to Temperance to put it in blunt terms. Jack did notice, however, that she was leery of being near either policeman; one more thing to file away. (The masked ball, most likely. He wondered how that had enfolded afterwards.)
"A hole. What makes you say someone like her," he motioned with his head towards Sunny as he asked everyone, "didn't cause it? Because I haven't done s**t, don't know about you. Just the damn dreams." It didn't seem like Professor Mercer enjoyed seeing Sunny either.
In short: Connor voiced his thoughts exactly as he approached. Great.
"It's the end of the world as we know it," Jack sang ironically. "Where's Peeble at?" He knew his friend was pretty attached to her--or at least, the dog was to him. But seeing as someone else's dog seemed loathe to come along...
